Prologue

"You ready, Blitzo?"

"Born ready."

Then they jumped, from their boards. The performers in question were children. One was an imp demon, with a red clown nose on his face, and large black and white striped horns. He wore a clown outfit that was green-blue with red buttons.

The other one was an angel. He had blue skin, purple eyes, and long golden horns that curled up into hearts at the end.

He wore a pink sleeveless shirt with black suspenders, and baggy pants. Floating above his head was a yellow halo, and he had gray and purple wings that sprouted from his back.

If you were a local sinner or even a hellborn, you might be wondering. What's an angel doing in Hell?

Well, this angel is Blitzo. He was a curious, wandering child that got stranded in this world, alongside his sister, Barbie Wire.

It wasn't before the two were found by a ringmaster, who decided to make them part of his circus. Therefore, the twins stayed in Hell for a while. Presumably three months.

While the ringmaster, Cash Buckzo, wasn't exactly the nicest, they wouldn't call their time in the circus terrible.

Blitzo and Barbie made friends with another imp their age, Fizzarolli, who is also that particular imp participating in the show with Blitzo as they jumped from their teeter boards.

Not to mention, the two got to see more of Hell as they stayed. They pretty much stayed in the pride rings most of the time, but still.

They got to learn a thing or two. Their stay wouldn't be forever, but still. Blitzo had to make the most of it.

Fizzarolli grabbed onto a swing, and Blitzo had managed to catch his hand. As they swung, someone in the audience watched. Their attention was directed mainly on Blitzo.

And that person just so happened to be a young goetia prince. Stolas, a owl-like demon with gray feathers and a white face with wide red eyes, wearing a yellow crown and a red royal shirt with yellow buttons and white sleeves.

Apparently, it was his birthday. Stolas was expecting it to be wonderful. It was the day he was old enough to figure out his purpose and responsibility. He was delighted when he learned it.

However, Stolas's mood instantly changed when he learned he was engaged. And he was horrified when he saw who it was. The girl on the photo....she was a complete monster.

Upon taking notice of Stolas' devastation, his father, Paimon, had decided that a trip to the circus could cheer him up. And there they were in the front bleachers. Stolas, with his new grimore in his possession, the butler, and Paimon, who was watching the show through a magic mirror.

Stolas was hardly impressed with what the circus offered. But then, he saw him. Blitzo. He felt the red rush to his face when the angel had swung by him.

Stolas often read books as a hobby. Sometimes he read about the angels. He never saw an angel before. Sure, there were the exorcists, but he wanted to meet one in person. An angel that was more sweet and gentle and not some bloodthirsty maniac.

He always thought angels often remained in Heaven, so it was a surprise to see one, especially one that was around his age, in Hell of all places.

Eventually, Blitzo let go of Fizzarolli's hand and landed onto a big, rubber ball, eventually jumping off it with a big hearty laugh.

"Heya folks," Blitzo started as he pulled out a green balloon. "Wanna see me make a horse?"

With that, the angel blew into the balloon and went on to making his horse. Instead, he formed a ball, and it lasted a second before popping.

"Crap."

He repeated the process, but with the same result.

The audience watched as he repeated the whole thing over and over. Blowing into the balloon, and shaping it into a ball while attempting to make a horse, only for it to pop every time.

"Horse..!" He said with a nervous chuckle as he finally got it right. He held up the horse to the audience. Due to the balloon horse having no legs and only being partially completed, the audience was hardly impressed.

Blitzo frowned, looking a bit discouraged before lighting up with a grin. "Well, it was a horse, but then it ate too much sugar and its legs stopped working, so they had to amputate. Now it's a gross worm horse."

While everyone was still unimpressed, Stolas started giggling at the angel's joke. "See, he gets it?" Blitzo said, smirking when he heard Stolas laughing. "These horses, they make no sense."

That was when Fizzarolli hopped down next to him. "Alright, Blitzo, that's enough horsing around," Fizzarolli said, shaping his own red balloon into a fully completed horse with legs. "Hey, everybody, look at this. It's banana pudding the clown horsie!"

Fizzarolli made a neighing sound and smiled as the audience began applauding him. Blitzo frowned in response, as the audience was hardly impressed with his own horse.

From the magic mirror, Paimon began applauding as well, while Stolas didn't look impressed, as he liked Blitzo's tricks and horse joke.

"I liked his broken horse joke," Stolas started. "It was funny. Their legs do stop working when they eat too much sugar. It called... laminitis."

Paimon looked at his son with a raised brow. As Stolas let out hooty laugh as he watched, Paimon looked at Blitzo, who held onto his horse with a bright smile on his face as he played on the big bouncy ball with Fizzarolli.

....

Cash Buckzo wasn't the kindest imp. What he mostly cared  about all the greed and the riches he could obtain. When he found Blitzo and his sister, he only took them in because he thought that with a pair of angels, he could obtain a fortune that was enough to get himself a bigger and better tent.

The children were more seen as regular imps compared to the exorcists. Sure Barbie had gotten the hang of performing, but Blitzo...sadly not.

He still kept the angels around. He never knew if one day they still be useful.

"What a show...real great."

Cash Buckzo was taking a drink out of his wine when he saw a particular butler approaching, holding mirror in which he saw the goetia king inside.

"So, ahem," Paimon cleared his throat as Cash looked at him. "That little clown you have. My son really enjoyed that one. I was wondering if I could buy him?"

"Buy him?" Cash Buckzo questioned.

"Yes, purchase him. Accurate."

Cash raised a brow.

Paimon clapped his hands repeatedly. The imp butler pushed a button on the mirror,  which extended far up close to Cash Buckzo's face, much to his surprise.

"My son doesn't have any friends, you see," Paimon started. "And he liked the little clown boy. It's his birthday... he's so sad and I don't want to deal with him. Can I write a check?"

"Well, Fizzarolli is a big draw," Buckzo started to explain. "He has a more shows to be in today, so it would be pretty expensive."

"No, no, the other one," Paimon corrected. "The angel."

"Blitzo?!"

"Yes. How much?" Paimon requested.

"Uh well..." Cash Buckzo stammered. "He's an angel. Since angels in Hell are a big deal, I kinda need him to keep the audience coming, so...how much you got in your pocket?"

The imp butler dug in his pocket. "Hmmm...a wadded up $5 and a slim fit condom," Paimon explained as he pulled the items out.

"That's plenty," Cash Buckzo added. "Done."

"Splendid," Paimon smiled as he was extended back to where the imp butler was. "Fetch him for me and we'll be on our way."

With that, the king clapped his hands once more. In a big blast, he and the butler were gone in a second.

....

"I'm Banana Pudding and I like to dance."

"I'm Worm Horse, and I'm sad."

After the show ended, Blitzo and Fizzarolli were playing with their balloon horses.

Even though they only knew each other for a few months, the two became rather close. Fizzarolli didn't care that Blitzo was an angel. He didn't thought it was cool to see an real angel in Hell.

Blitzo thought the same way about Fizzarolli. Throughout the span, the imp and angel had became the best of friends, often participating in the circus show and playing together afterwards.

"Why are you sad, worm horse?"

"Because...I have no legs."

"Oh, well, that's okay."

"I lost my legs in the war."

"The war?!"

"The Great Pirates War."

"No, no pirates."

"The great pirates waaaarr!"

Fizzarolli narrowed his eyes at the angel. "If you keep talking about pirates, I will punch you."

Blitzo ignored the little threat and continued playing. "I fought bravely but I could not run fast enough...they took my legs, there was blood everywhere!"

Fizzarolli bursted into laughter. Ever since Cash Buckzo started him and his sister out of the circus more often, they got to see more of Hell.

Which meant they saw things that children aren't supposed to see. One of those things being blood.

"Ew, no blood," Fizzarolli giggled. "Blood is disgusting."

"No, it's cool," Blitzo said as he began laughing.

"Well, Banana Pudding is here to save the day," Fizzarolli said with a smile as he played with his balloon horse. "With his magical feet he dances around with, he will dance around Worm Horse and make him feel better."

"And then..." All of a sudden, Blitzo started squirting ketchup on his green balloon horse. "THERE WILL BE MORE BLOOD!"

"Blitzo, that's so gross," Fizzarolli giggled. "Stop!"

"NEVER!" Blitzo hollered as he waved the ketchup bottle around.

"Boy, I got a job for you," all of a sudden, Cash Buckzo showed, grabbed Blitzo by the arm and began to drag him away. "You're gonna spend a day with one of the goetia princes."

"Ew," Blitzo started. "Why?"

"Because money," Buckzo snapped, and turned face to face with the angel. "Now, listen carefully. You are being brought out to be his playmate. But I want you to steal as much from those rich fuckers as you possibly can."

Blitzo's eyes shrunk when he heard that last part. As an angel, he was taught that stealing was wrong, not to mention sinful. Besides, he was stealing from royalty. Who knows what could happen if he got caught?

"Steal...?" Blitzo shuddered, pulling his hand away. "But... that's wrong."

"It's Hell, sport," Cash started. "No one fucking cares. Besides, don't you want us to buy a bigger tent. Better food? Don't you wanna go back home and see your momma again?"

"Of course I wanna see Momma!" Blitzo protested.

"Then you gotta do this," Cash Buckzo told him. "Everything those rich fucks have will be worth a fortune."

"But...if I'm caught....I'm scared, Cash."

"There are scarier things," Cash smiled as he placed a hand on the angel's shoulder. "Aren't there, son?"

"But..."

That's when he did it. Those eyes. Big and wide, on the verge of tears. Made precisely to guilt trip him.

It worked. Blitzo relented. "Yes, Cash."

....

They had arrived at the palace. Where Paimon and his son, Stolas resided. Cash walked Blitzo up to the two royals, in which the feisty angel pulled his arm out of the imp's grasp and shrugged as he looked at Stolas.

Stolas recognized the angel, and blushed in response, much to Blitzo's confusion.  "Here is your new friend, my son," Paimon told Stolas, gesturing towards Blitzo. "Happy birthday."

"A friend?" Stolas lit up happily.

"I guess, " Blitzo shrugged as he introduced himself. "Hi, I'm Blitzo."

"I'm Stolas," Stolas bowed to the angel as he happily introduced himself. "It's nice to-"

That was when Paimon smacked him on the head. "Don't bow to that one," Paimon scolded. "He bows to us, idiot."

"Oh, right...sorry, father..." Stolas apologized as he rubbed the spot Paimon smacked him at.

"I'm so good at daddying," Paimon smiled as he stood back up. Blitzo and Stolas just stared blankly at him.

....

Blitzo had spent some time. Listening to Stolas telling him about the different types of book he had. The angel was getting bored at this point.

He yawned, and was on the verge of shutting his eyes as Stolas continued listing his book. "This is my book on the difference between frogs and toads," Stolas continued, holding up a book with a frog on it. "There are lots of differences."

"And this is my book on plants and herbs," Stolas said he pulled out a book with the word "botany" embroidered on it, along with a picture of numerous flowers kept in a hexagon shaped glass base. "Did you know plants can hear you-"

"This is boring," Blitzo interrupted as he stood up. "This is all boring stuff."

"Oh...I'm sorry," Stolas frowned. "I never had a friend to share my books with.

That was when Blitzo had an idea. "You would be fun?" He asked as he stepped closer and slowly pushed the book down a little. "A game. Let's play treasure hunt.'

"What's that?" Stolas raised a brow.

"It's where we pretend to be pirates," Blitzo started, picking up a big feather and pretending it was a sword. "And we go around the house collecting all the nicest things, and then, we throw out them out the window."

Stolas was confused. "Throw them...out the window?"

"Yes," Blitzo nodded.

"Since when did pirates throw things out windows?" Stolas asked as he tilted his head.

"Since the dawn of time," Blitzo scoffed as he jumped off the stack of books he was standing on. "Pirates are always throwing things out windows."

"I... don't think they had windows," Stolas said.

"Did your book say that?" Blitzo deadpanned.

"Yes, actually," Stolas answered as he pulled some of his books. "Several."

"Well," Blitzo said as he grabbed the books he was holding and tossed them aside. "We're throwing them out the window because it's fun."

"That's an odd game," Stolas started, before gasping as his tone became enthusiastic. "Is this an angel game?"

"Sure, why not?" Blitzo shrugged his shoulders.

"Well, it's what you want to play-" Stolas paused when Blitzo wrapped his arm around his shoulders. Stolas blushed a bit in response.

"Let's do it."

....

The two wasted no time getting to the game. As soon he got his hands on a big brown sack, Blitzo took off into the hallway, rapidly wrapping his wings as he soared through the air.

"Come on, come on, come on!" Blitzo reclaimed, the angel snatching every object that laid on a pedestal and tossing it into the bag as Stolas chased after him, trying to catch up with the excited angel.

In another room where there were more valuables than ever, Blitzo climbed up the shelves, tossing a few objects into the brown sack Stolas was now carrying.

The angel gave Stolas a thumbs up, which the goetia smiled and did the same. The two opened up a chest filled to the brim with gold.

They tossed all the gold into the sack until the chest was empty. It wasn't long before the shelves were both empty, and they moved to the next spot.

The two were playing fun with another shelf, laughing as they swung on a tall pink ladder, laughing as they took several items at a time.

In one more hallway, they even saw a chandler with dozens of shiny beautiful pearls. Blitzo had even taken a few lines of them. The two admired the sights, eventually falling on their backs and laughing it off.

Later, Blitzo was  running after Stolas, when he heard a whistle nearby. He walked up to the balcony and peered down at the bushes.

Popping out was none other than Cash Buckzo. The imp gestured for the angel drop down the sack full of the valued goods he had snatched.

Blitzo turned around to see Stolas, who was on tool, trying to reach for something. The angel wasted no time as he picked up the bag, and tossed it into the bushes.

With that done, he heard Stolas say with excitement. "Blitzo, come here!"

....

The two were outside. Stolas was sitting against the black tree, looking at his grimore as Blitzo soared into the red sky, looking at the scenery for a quick second.

Blitzo flew back to Stolas, upside down in mid air, flapping his little wings. "So what is that?" Blitzo asked when he noticed the book on Stolas' hands. "Your diary?"

"No, this is my new grimore," Stolas answered. "It's a spell book. I have to learn it so I can access the living world."

Blitzo's eyes widened in amazement. "The living world? With all the humans and stuff? Where the sinners and winners come from?"

Stolas nodded.

"That's cool," Blitzo said as he landed next to Stolas on a tree root, right side up.

"Yes, I'm supposed to learn to use it to study the sky," Stolas explained.

"Why?"

"My dad says I can find prophecies. But I don't really know...but I'm supposed to, that's what my job will be when I grow up. To join the Goetia family."

"Well, you wanna know what I'll do when I grow up?" Blitzo started with a smile. "Originally, I wanted to become one of the heaven higher ups, but now...I wanna come back down here one day, and start my own circus. And I'm gonna be the famous angel ever."

Stolas watched as Blitzo slowly began to take off into the sky, fluttering his wings as he did. "And I'll be able to do what I wanna do, all day. I'm gonna make so much money and buy myself a big building with a big office."

"A big office?" Stolas raised a brow. "For a circus?"

"Yeah, a big office," Blitzo hyped up. "A circus business with clowns and horses! And the horses will have good names. Like Stapler and Biscuit Queen."

Stolas giggled a bit. "I'm sure you will. That's a good business."

"Yeah, and if you apply, I'll hire you, maybe," Blitzo offered.

Stolas laughed again. "You'll hire me?"

"Yeah, if I feel like it," Blitzo chuckled.

"Well, I hope I qualify," Stolas said as Blitzo landed on the same tree root. "You'd make a good boss."

"You say that with the sarcasm...but I totes would!"

The two children then laughed happily together as the day went by.

.....

"And that, my dear Via, is how I met an angel for the time."

Years have went by since that day. Stolas, having dreadfully been married to the wife he called a monster, was telling the daughter they had together, Octavia, the story of how he met Blitzo.

The young owlet was nearly five years old. She had listened to each detail with intrigue, and smiled by the time he was finished.

"Wow, I wish I could meet an angel, daddy," Octavia grinned with excitement. "Did he ever come by so often after that day?"

Stolas frowned. That day was the last time Blitzo ever visited. And it really saddened him at first. He didn't know what happened to the angel until some years when he was a teen.

He had first meet Blitzo's best friend, Fizzarolli, during a family trip to Greed. Stolas had kept some photos of Blitzo with him, and upon seeing them, Fizzarolli answered the life long question the goetia often asked himself.

Apparently, Blitzo's mother had spent the few months searching for her children, getting the exorcists and even the seraphims involved with the search party.

Sera had constant meetings with Lucifer about the missing children. At first, Lucifer didn't have any idea that there were even angel children stranded in his kingdom to begin with.

By the time, Lucifer did find out, it was about a few days after Stolas' birthday. The king had taken his wife and daughter to the circus, and it was only when he saw Blitzo and Barbie together that he instantly pieced everything together and figured it out.

At first, Cash Buckzo didn't want to give up the angels. But Lucifer had threatened to sentence him to death if he didn't comply, so he gave the king the children.

Soon, Lucifer notified Sera, and it wasn't long before Blitzo and Barbie were sent back home.

It explained a lot of things. Fizzarolli was saddened by Blitzo's departure, but at least got a chance to say goodbye before he left.

Meanwhile, Stolas was even more saddened. His first friend finally got to go home. He knew it was the right thing to do after all. But still. He wished he knew of this. He wished that, like Fizz, he at least got a chance to say goodbye.

Octavia sat there, waiting for an answer. "Sadly, he went home, and never got to visit," Stolas finally answered.

Octavia frowned. "Do you think you'll see him again?"

Stolas smiled. "I'm sure I will. I think he would even love you."

....

Meanwhile, back in Heaven, Blitzo had finished the same story to his ten year old adopted daughter, Loona.

Loona was a wolf-like cherub. Blitzo had adopted her about five years ago, and so far, it was the best decision of his life. She was such a sweetheart, so pure and kind hearted.

He would die for her.

"So not only was your friend a demon, but an actual prince?" Loona said,  a bit amazed. "That's so cool, Dad."

Blitzo smiled a bit. "Aww, Loonie, just wait until you meet him in person. You're gonna love him."

"Are we gonna visit him one day?"

Blitzo didn't answer for a moment.

He regretted leaving Hell that day. Sure, he was glad to be back home. With his mother, and surrounded by all the other angels.

But still. He was glad to at least be able to say one last goodbye to Fizzarolli. But Stolas...he didn't have a chance to say goodbye to him. A part of him felt like Stolas would start thinking he abandoned him.

I mean, what kind of friend just disappears from your life and never came back?

Ever since Blitzo came back home, he was never allowed back into Hell. He understood why his mother and even Sera forbid it.

Blitzo planned to come back when he was older. But work got in the way. He became a member of the angelic court, something that was deemed a marvelous path.

He hardly had time to tend to seeing his long lost friends. Another thing that stopped him was parenthood. Five years ago, Loona's parents disappeared.

Poor Loona was only five years old back then, and she had no other family left to take care of her, and all those tears had made their way into Blitzo's heart.

So the angel adopted the cherub and started raising her while juggling work at the same time.

He hardly had time to go down to Hell and see his long lost friends and had spend all of it providing for Loona and drowning in paperwork.

Loona waited for a response, tilting her head to the side. Blitzo finally answered with a warm smile. "Perhaps, one of these days, we will Loonie."

Perhaps one day, the goetia will find his angel again.
