Chapter 24: Goofy and Sylvia
Sylvia was placing books on their rightful places while still upset about Goofy not showing up for the dinner she prepared.
"Hmm. Stands me up. Doesn't call me, doesn't apologize, doesn't write to me. He could send me a little note, something," she mumbled.
She moved four books to see Goofy, smiling awkwardly.
"Hmph," she huffed.
"Sylvia, I... Oh, if you'd let me, I--" Goofy said.
"Shh. No talking in the library," Sylvia remarked and shoved the books back in.
"Oh, gawrsh, Sylvia. I really care about ya," Goofy replied.
"Well, gee! If a certain someone truly cared about another someone, you would think that the certain someone would show up for a certain special dinner, or at least apologize for not showing up, or even call or something!" Sylvia stated and shoved more books on the shelf.
"Ohh! You're right. I'm so sorry. I let my head get so filled up with fiddle-faddle, that I plumb lost track of everything that's important to me. Counting you," Goofy explained.
"Oh!" she gasped.
"Can you ever forgive me?" he asked.
She turned around to see Goofy, clearly upset that he hurt her. She just smiled warmly at him.
"Oh, how can I not forgive you?" she answered.
"Oh, Sylvia, I gotta get my grades up, and quit those dumb ol' Gammas. And most important--" Goofy started.
"Shh," a librarian told him.
"And most important, get my son back," he finished, whispering.
"Well, what are we waiting for? I've got a yearnin' for some learnin'. Ah-yuck!" Sylvia said, kissing Goofy's nose.
"Ah-yuck!" Goofy laughed bashfully as she walked away with a smile.
When he tried to get out, his head was stuck in the shelf. When he kept trying, he felt the shelf start to tilt.
"Huh?" he asked.
Then as it toppled over, it bumped into other shelves like dominoes. It shocked everyone, but Goofy was focused on one thing.
"Oh Sylvia?" he said.
Then as the week went on, Sylvia had been helping Goofy study for the Mid-term exam. Well, it was actually that plus working out. He finally went in and took the test.
"Let's do it to it!" he said.
When the results came back, both of them looked under Goofy's name and he got really good grades.
"Oh! Oh, you did it! You did it! Look! All A's," Sylvia exclaimed.
She laughed excitedly as she hugged and twirled Goofy around.
"Oh, I am just so proud of you, Goofy. Let's go celebrate," she requested.
"Oh, you know I'd love to, but I got a few more things to take care of," Goofy stated.
