Chapter 23: Max Gets Back on Track

It was a cloudy day at the school as Max went for a walk. A girl passed him as he continued.

"Hey, I know you! Aren't you-" she started to say, making him stop and smile.

"Yeah. Max," he answered.

"Goofy's son! Ahh! He is rad!" the girl exclaimed.

Max sighed sadly as she walked away after she opened her umbrella. It started to rain, so Max lifted his jacket collar and kept walking.

When he finally made it to the Bean Scene, his friends and girlfriend were sitting together. PJ was dressed a little like Mocha since they were dating as well.

"Hmm? Do you ever wonder why we're always like...wearin' gloves?" Bobby wondered.

Max didn't go and sit with them; he just went to get his coffee.

"Grande cappuccino. Make it a double," Max ordered.

"Hey, Max!" PJ exclaimed when he saw his friend.

"Grande cap, double it," the barista called.

"Be here now, bro! We thrive on the singularity of the you that is one with your selfness," PJ said as he stood beside him and Jamie and Bobby approached him.

"That's just the new PJ speak for 'Where you been, buddy?'" Bobby translated.

"I've decided this school's only big enough for one Goof," Max answered after drinking some of his drink, took a deep breath, then said, "I'm transferring outta here."

"Excusez-moi moi?" Bobby asked.

"Max," Jamie replied, taken back.

"Wait a minute! Hold it, Max! That means you can't be on the "X" Games team," PJ cried as he tried to stop Max from leaving.

"Exactly. You don't want me on the team, anyway. I lost in my best event!" Max pointed out.

"Ah, c'mon! Hey, Maxman! That was a one-time freak-fest. You can beat any of those losers any day," Bobby assured.

"I've already decided. I'm outta here," Max said then headed for the door.

"Max, Max, Max. Admit defeat, and defeat will surely admit you into permanent custody, my man," Mocha remarked, making Max stop and sit across from her.

"If I can't even beat my father, who is probably the most athletically-challenged man in the universe, how can you expect me to beat the other competitors? We're starting in last place because of me!" Max exclaimed.

"Max, I know that you feel like you let us down. But I'm gonna tell you that you didn't. You have our full support on this. And let me tell you something I haven't told you yet. When we first met and I was skateboarding towards that couch, I didn't know anything was there until you warned me," Jamie explained.

Max looked at her, eyes wide. She didn't know someone came out with a couch that day?

"If it weren't for you, I would've gotten hurt. That showed how much you care and how much teamwork means to you. So when we say that you can take on the Gammas, we all have got your back. We can't let Bradley win. Together, we can do it!" she continued.

That was the turning point for Max. Knowing that he helped someone made him want to help his team win the "X" Games.

"You're right! We can still beat 'em! Let's whip those Gammas!" Max said.

"Whoo-hoo-hoo! Mission: Possible!" Bobby cheered.

"Let's do it to it!" they all shouted, doing their handshake and leaving the Bean Scene.

"Boys...will be boys," Mocha told Jamie.

"You know it. I better go with them," Jamie chuckled.

She went after them to practice more for the "X" Games.

A/N Jamie got through to Max about staying and taking down the Gammas. Way to go girl! Lol! I'm cheering for myself. 😜
