Chapter 2: Packing (Max)
Later that night, Max was packing up everything in his room as he was mumbling to himself of how excited he was.
"Ooh, I can't wait to get out of here," Max mumbled as his father came in.
"Here, let me help you pack," Goofy offered.
"Dad, I can do that," Max insisted.
"I sure hope so. I'm not gonna be there at college to pick up after you. In fact, it's gonna be a long time before you see your old man again. What, maybe Christmas?" Goofy explained, wiping a tear from his eye.
"Ah, Dad, it'll go by fast. Not too fast, I hope," Max assured, whispering the last part.
"It's time to take charge, live your own life. You're a grown man now, Maxie-Poo," Goofy said, holding a familiar bear up to Max's face.
He placed Ol' Stuffed Bear in the suitcase, but Max gave him a look like "Are you serious?"
"I'm not takin' Ol' Stuffed Bear to college, Dad!" Max explained, putting the bear on the bed.
"Sure you are," Goofy insisted, gently shoving the bear towards his son.
"No," Max refused, pushing it away.
"What are you talkin' about? You love Stuffed Bear. Come on. You're gonna need him," Goofy replied while they both were playing Tug of War with it.
"I'm not kidding! No!" Max yelled.
Max got him out of his father's hands and threw him on the bed, only to fall off it and onto the floor. Goofy looked from the bear to Max sadly as his son finally managed to close his suitcase. Then his face brightened up when he remembered something.
"Well, then, I got somethin' else for you," Goofy remarked.
He ran to get it as Max lifted the heavy suitcase off the bed. He sat down as Goofy brought in a present.
"Son, I want you to have this," he said, laying the present in his son's lap.
"Oh! It weighs like a ton! I bet it's one of those combo TV/CD/VCR/Laptop/Scanner/Fax things, right? Oh, man, they are so cool!" Max replied excitedly as he ripped at the wrapping paper while his father just smiled.
But when he opened it, it was a typewriter. He was looking at it like "What?" as Goofy took a picture of him and did his famous laugh.
"Too stunned to speak, huh?" he asked.
"No, just stunned. What is it?" Max asked.
"This was my father's. And now, son, it's yours," Goofy answered.
"Thanks, Dad. This means a lot to me," Max said, yawned, took his shirt off, then added, "Oh, listen, I'm gonna turn in. You know, big day tomorrow."
He laid down as Goofy tucked him in then headed for the door. As he reached for the light switch, he looked back at Max.
"Good night, Dad," Max said.
"Good night, son," Goofy responded.
He turned out the light and just before he closed the door, he saw Max grab Ol' Stuffed Bear and snuggle with it. Goofy almost cried like it was Max as a kid again. Oh how he has grown.

A/N This is getting really difficult for Goofy, but he has to accept that Max has grown up.
