* Mᴇᴇᴛ Sᴏɴɢ... sʜᴇ's sᴄᴀʀʏ.

Stretch fell out of the portal into Songtale.

"Wᴇʟᴘ. Tʜɪs ɪs Sᴏɴɢᴛᴀʟᴇ. Hᴏᴍᴇ ᴛᴏ ᴛʜᴇ ᴏɴʟʏ ғᴇᴍ!Sᴀɴs ɪɴ ᴛʜᴇ ᴍᴜʟᴛɪᴠᴇʀsᴇ... ʜᴜʜ. Fᴏʀ sᴏᴍᴇ ʀᴇᴀsᴏɴ, ᴛʜᴀᴛ ᴅᴏᴇsɴ'ᴛ ғᴇᴇʟ ʀɪɢʜᴛ," said Error.

"Interesting. So, where do we go to get your stuff?"

"Tʜᴇ ᴄʀᴀғᴛs sʜ-ᴏH sʜᴏᴏᴛ, ʜᴇʀᴇ sʜᴇ ᴄᴏᴍᴇs," Error yelped, before quickly ducking behind Stretch.

Panicked thoughts rushed through his mind, 'Please don't let her make me sing... that was so embarrassing.'

"So, the great destroyer is scared of me? Heh. Now, I haven't met you before, have I, bud?" A short skeleton wearing a skirt and pale gray jacket had walked over to them, giving Error a look that made him shiver and mostly ignoring Stretch other than to give him a once-over, quickly finding him to not be a threat to her home.

"I don't think so. My name is Stretch, and I'm from the Underswap AU," said Stretch, not seeing why Error was so scared of her.

"Well, hello Stretch! I'm Song, guardian and Judge of Songtale. Lemme guess, Error roped you into helping him get his stuff so he wouldn't have to come here alone?"

"Yup."

"I'm not surprised, he's always been kinda scared of me. Come with me, boys."

"Oᴋᴀʏ..."

"Also, Error, don't think you've gotten out of your promise. You still have to sing a song! I've got a perfect song for you, I've had plenty of time to find one after all. I've actually found two, so you can choose whichever one you like better."

"Hᴜʜ. Wʜᴀᴛ'ʀᴇ ᴛʜᴇʏ ᴄᴀʟʟᴇᴅ?"

"Well, the first song is called 'Life Afraid' and it's by a human band called Set It Off. The other is called 'Karma,' and it's one of my own projects- it might actually be a good fit for your voice, now that I think about it. I based it off of... huh. I don't quite remember..? My friend Alphys made the instrumental, and it turned out fabulous. All sorts of cool effects and a really unique style."

"Oh, I've heard of Set It Off. Blue likes their music."

"Uɢʜʜʜ... ɪ'ᴍ ɴᴏᴛ ɢᴏɪɴɢ ᴛᴏ ʙᴇ ᴀʙʟᴇ ᴛᴏ ɢᴇᴛ ᴏᴜᴛ ᴏғ ᴛʜɪs, ᴡɪʟʟ I?"

"Nope! I'm sure you'll enjoy it once you actually get started though!"

"I ᴅᴏᴜʙᴛ ᴛʜᴀᴛ."

"Don't doubt me, glitchy. If there's one thing I know, it's music. Now, Stretch- is there anything you need while you and Error are here?"

"Nah, I'm good."

A cheerful trousle of bones could be heard in the distance, and Snow perked up.

"Oh! I forgot that Rhythm and the girls are performing today! C'mon boys. You can come see the show," Song said, giving them a look that they could tell meant, "you'd better come, or else you will die a painful death."

Error made a small meep of utter terror, and promptly crashed.

"Oops. I didn't mean to scare him that bad," Song said, giggling softly.

"Blue taught me how to help him with this," said Stretch, quickly pressing the yes button to reboot him.

With a short, high-pitched beep, Error finally finished rebooting a few minutes later. Song had already gone ahead, saying that Error knew where to go.

"Welcome back to the world of the living, bud," said Stretch. "Now c'mon, Song's probably getting impatient, and I don't want to see her actually get angry."

Error simply nodded and followed the cheerful sounds of Rhythm and the girls warming up. Song was already there, perched atop a towering speaker system. She seemed to be chatting to the Alphys of Songtale, who was manning the sound systems.

"COME HERE, BOYS!" Song yelled when she spotted them.

They walked over to her, and she began to introduce them to the rest of her and Rhythm's friends.

"So, Error, you already know Rhythm, but the loud fish-lady standing next to me is Undyne, that's Alphys on the computer over there, and the pair of robots over there are Mettaton and Napstablook," said Song. "Most of us sing, and we create a lot of our own music. Rhythm and I can both play the drums, Undyne plays the piano, and Metta is insanely good on an electric guitar. Alphys runs the sound system, and Napstablook works alongside her. Blooky is also really good at creating instrumentals for our music."

"Cᴏᴏʟ. Cᴀɴ I ɢᴏ ɢᴇᴛ ᴍʏ sᴛᴜғғ ɴᴏᴡ?"

"Nope! You get to sing first, because I know you'll leave as soon as you get your stuff. So come with me," Song said, smiling evilly. "Hey Alph, you mind if I snag a laptop for a sec?"

"I-it's no problem! Here, this one's got the song list up already," said Alphys, stuttering slightly.

"Cᴏᴜʟᴅ ᴏɴᴇ ᴏғ ʏᴏᴜ sʜᴏᴡ ᴍᴇ ʜᴏᴡ ɪᴛ's ᴅᴏɴᴇ ғɪʀsᴛ?"

"Oh, could I sing? I've got a cool song that I really feel like singing!" Undyne shouted excitedly.

"What song, 'Dyne?"

"It's called Undying, I had a weird dream and was inspired to write it! Alphys helped me with it," Undyne said, pride in her accomplishment evident in her voice.

"Well then, Alphys, let's get that beat going and let Undyne sing her song!" Song said cheerfully.

"I look around and see
Everything that's evil, it bothers me
Someone has to put a stop to this
This world, well someone's gotta save it
I'm seeing too much hate
Too much for me to contemplate
Hey kid, you're pretty determined,
And our guard is out for recruitment

I see the fire in your eyes
I used to think that you were weak on the inside
But now I've seen the way
You want to save the day
Maybe we need a hero
That's not a warrior face

Maybe we need a hero
Who's not afraid to take on the hate

I have all the pride
And you will never see me die
I bring all the fight
Protect our people from the light
Is it such a fantasy
To have monsters and humans be at peace
Well not for me

Although I've tried really hard to not like you
There's something I can't quite figure out
About you (about you)
You've seemed so kind to spare us all
But I can't help but feel in another universe
You killed us all

So do I run with trust
Or do I go with hate
Fighting you may be my curtain call of fate

Do we keep trying
Can I keep fighting
Or should we all just try to change

As a captain of the royal guard
You humans don't get by at all
'Cause I need to collect a soul
So everyone can escape the cold
I have all the pride
And you will never see me die
I bring all the fight
Protect our people from the light
Is it such a fantasy
To have monsters and humans be at peace"
** The song is actually by Groundbreaking.

"Undyne, that was amazing! Now it's time for Error to sing, and I found the instrumental for Karma. The lyrics are in the journal on the shelf under the computer station, so I'll get that now," said Song. She grabbed a small notebook out from under the computers and looked through the pages before handing it to Error. "Here, take a look."

Error glitched slightly while reading, dark blue liquid magic gathering in his eye sockets. Then he carefully handed her the journal before saying, "Sᴏɴɢ, I ᴅᴏɴ'ᴛ ᴛʜɪɴᴋ I ᴄᴀɴ sɪɴɢ ᴛʜɪs ᴡɪᴛʜᴏᴜᴛ ʜᴀᴠɪɴɢ ᴀ ʙʀᴇᴀᴋᴅᴏᴡɴ. "Oh... I'm sorry, Error. Do you mind if I sing it, then? I really want to see how it sounds with its new instrumental."

"I ɢᴜᴇss sᴏ. Iғ ɪᴛ ɢᴇᴛ ᴛᴏᴏ ʙᴀᴅ ɪ'ʟʟ ʟᴇᴀᴠᴇ, I ᴅᴏɴ'ᴛ ᴡᴀɴᴛ ᴛᴏ ᴅᴀᴍᴀɢᴇ ʏᴏᴜʀ ʟᴏᴠᴇʟʏ ᴀᴜ."

"I've lost my mind
The skies are crashing around me
I'm left behind
Smoke obscures all that I can see

You lead me down a dark path
But I'm who you blame for the aftermath
You're screaming out

You've broken me down and I
Am left alone here to cry
Someone, can someone
Please, someone save me now

You've charred my heart into ash
I've become numb to the pain
You've driven us both to crash
And escape without a scratch

Now you've used up all your luck
It's time to get what you deserve
I'm holding out for karma
I'm holding out to watch you burn (burn, burn, burn...)

Shoot me down
Of course, I'm the sinful one here
But now I've found
A reason to feel no fear

You lead me down a dark path
But I'm who you blame for the aftermath
We're screaming out

You've broken me down and I
Am left alone here to cry
Someone, can someone
Please, someone end this now

I'm not usually the type
To hold a grudge (u-u-u-u-u-udge)
But you've affected me (me me, me)
And now (I'm nothing)
I'm nothing but rage (but rage)

Give what you take
Take what you give
What you've done to me
I will not forgive (x2)

You've charred my heart into ash
I've become numb to the pain
You've driven us both to crash
And escape without a scratch

Now you've used up all your luck
It's time to get what you deserve
I'm holding out for karma
I'm holding out to watch you burn (burn, burn, burn...)

You've charred my heart into ash
I've become numb to the pain
You've driven us both to crash
And escape without a scratch

Now you've used up all your luck
It's time to get what you deserve
I'm holding out for karma
I'm holding out to watch you burn"

Error crashed before it even hit the 3rd verse. Stretch sighed and pressed the button, having mostly gotten used to Error's oddities.

"Sᴏʀʀʏ ᴀʙᴏᴜᴛ ᴛʜᴀᴛ... I ʜᴏᴘᴇ I ᴅɪᴅɴ'ᴛ ᴍᴀᴋᴇ ᴛᴏᴏ ᴍᴜᴄʜ ɴᴏɪsᴇ."

"It's fine. I feel like we're all good now, so don't worry about having to sing. Come on, let's go get you- lemme guess, more sewing supplies and a bit of chocolate?"

"Yᴜᴘ, ᴘʀᴇᴛᴛʏ ᴍᴜᴄʜ... ᴛʜᴀɴᴋs, Sᴏɴɢ."

"You're welcome!"
