Tying up her auburn hair into a high pony tail, Tessa sleepily looked at herself in her bathroom mirror. Her eyes were heavy, dull with fatigue. She let her arms flop down to her sides, just staring at herself for a moment, perturbed. There was something different about her eyes. She leant across the wash basin, peering intensely into the mirror, analysing her own eyes when she caught sight of it: there was a tiny red fleck amidst the green of her left iris. She frowned.
It may be a result of destroying the other Entity.
"Hm..." She grimaced, standing away from the mirror, "Not keen on that."
Tessa tried to ignore it and bent down to wash her face.
* * * * * * *
In her mind, the glowing Entity sat patiently in the Tea Temple, their host knelt before them, eyes closed, on the opposite side of the table with the empty tea mug.
Peace radiated in Tessa's mind, save from that small disruption with her appearance. The Entity was still content with watching life through her eyes as long as it would have the chance to speak and socialise with its own friends, Olek and Sura, every so often.
So, it floated there calmly.
Until a small glow of red came from the hallway.
Cautiously, the Entity left the table, hoping it was merely a figment of its imagination.
* * * * * * *
Just as Tessa was about to climb into bed, there was a gentle knock at her room door. With a quiet sigh, she dropped the corner of the duvet she had in her hand and approached the entrance to her room. She opened the door, mildly annoyed but only because she was so tired.
"Yes - "
"Hi." Stephen smiled, "Sorry, did I wake you?"
"Stephen - uh, no." She shook off her surprise, and leant against the doorway, "You didn't wake me...but I was just about to get into bed." She gestured behind her with her thumb.
"Ah, right, sorry, I - " He squinted at her for a moment, "Have you got something in your eye?"
Automatically, she moved to rub her eye when she stopped and recalled her small discovery, "Oh, no - well, yes - my iris has been tainted. Tee, thinks it's an effect of having destroyed the other."
He frowned, "It wasn't there before - "
"I know - "
"No, I mean it wasn't there at dinner."
"And you were looking deeply into my eyes at dinner were you?" She joked.
Abashed, he rubbed the back of his neck, his gaze on the floor between them, "N - no, well, I - "
She laughed through her nose at his nervousness, "I think that's nice that you notice the small things."
"A photographic memory means it's hard not to. You can trust I will always remember the small details."
The latter comment made her blush, "So, why are you here now?"
"Did you want to come walk with me?"
* * * * * * *
The Entity followed after the red glow deep into Tessa's Kamar-Taj until it dissipated, never seeing the source of it. It had stopped in the corridor farthest below the structure - what would be consider her deepest subconscious - the place that acted as a reservoir of thoughts, feelings, urges and memories outside of her conscious awareness, the place where both her life and death instincts resided, the place where Tee had once been repressed and restricted to.
Something didn't feel right down there. Unsettled by the lack of connection with its host, Tee began floating back up to the Tea Temple.
That was when it felt as though it was being watched.
Turning once more, to its surprise, it caught a miniscule, wriggling, crimson spark speedily slip under a door.
No...
Warily, it approached the door and wished it open so it could enter. With a mighty creak, the door softly swung open to reveal a dark room. At the centre of it, the red spark pulsed, latching onto a wooden cabinet with a glass display case on top. Within it sat a familiar wooden staff and a simple tessen fan.
Get out.
I said you would regret it.
The Entity wildly threw a ferocious tendril toward the leech-like spark and snatched it away from the cabinet, squeezing it within an inch of its life.
* * * * * *
"I don't know, I'm quite tired."
"Ah, okay..."
"If you ask me tomorrow though, I might have a better ans...wer..."
Tessa gripped the doorframe a little tighter, blinking hard as she felt vertigo wash over her. Stephen offered her other hand his arm to help her steady herself. Once the feeling dissolved, she looked up at him shyly.
"Sorry, I don't know what happened then."
"You're exhausted. Let me help you to bed."
"Thanks."
Stephen guided her in and helped her slip under the covers. She massaged her temples, eyes shut for a moment, before looking up at him with an appreciative smile. All she received back was a curious frown. He peered closer at her.
"What? Why are you looking at me like I have two heads?"
"The red speck in your iris, it's gone."
"Oh?"
Stephen nodded.
"Maybe the lighting was odd." She suggested with a shrug.
"Maybe..." He stared at her a moment longer.
Under his intense gaze, she shuffled under the covers, "Well, goodnight then Doctor Stephen Strange, Sorcerer Supreme. Thanks for helping me to bed."
The sorcerer shook away his concern, his gaze softening, "Sleep well, Tess."
"Night."
And with that Stephen left the room, flicking off her light as he went, and shut the door behind him.
* * * * * *
The spark slipped out of its grasp heading straight for the cabinet again, desperate to reach the glass. Tee's lanky arms moved sharply around to get a hold of the spark once more but failed to do so.
If Tee had stereotypical eyes, they would have widened in horror as the red spark connected with the glass and appeared to be absorbed into it.
Perfect.
Get out of there.
If you want me out, you'll have to take me out.
The remnant of the other latched onto both the fan and staff causing both the grain of the wood and the material of the fan to pulse bright red.
What have you done?
Fused with her.
The glass of the cabinet began to crack as the glow intensified.
I waited...I watched...I discovered this - a way in. I wanted you to witness this, I wanted you to watch me win, to see you panic.
In a split second, Tee rushed to shut the door and locked it tight, hurriedly pushing and placing whatever it could find in the room against the door.
You will not be able to repress me from her conscious for long.
I will protect Tessa.
And I will consume her.
The cracks webbed across the glass faster. The last thing the Entity could do was attempt to protect its barrier by contorting itself into a morning star once more.
With a triumphant laugh, the glass shattered.
* * * * * *
Tessa lay in the dark, asleep.
But when that first fragile barrier broke, her eyes shot open. Where a dark void once wholly consumed her eyes, two new features glowed there now: menacing, sharp, red irises lay in her oily orbs.
She smirked.

A/N - That's it! First Marvel fic complete (minus editing)!
I really hope you enjoyed the story. Was it what you expected? Is there anyone you wish you could have seen more of?
As you can tell, there will be more to come (which is all planned out already) but when that will be who knows.
I may start working on my 'I Am Ironheart' fic again but don't hold me to that too much.
In fact...
Marvel fics in the works are:
- I Am Ironheart (set after SM:Homecoming/before IW)
- Sequel to An Entity Within (set before IW)
- Loki X OC (set before IW death)
- Loki X -a different- OC (set in the TV Show)
- Pietro Maximoff X OC (set in AoU)
- Bucky Barnes X OC (×2 😏 bc I have no self-control when making OCs and why not let the dude date around yanno yanno)
So there is the list so far, if there is anything you would rather see sooner out of all those, let me know, you might just be the person to persuade me to do something (although pls don't take it personally if it doesn't happen).
But yeah.
Thank you so much for reading! Hope you all have a wonderful night/day! ❤
- Mickey 😄
