"A rolling Saturday"
A/N: okay it's official. I'm exhausted from typing so much lol also i like to dedicate this chapter to Fantasy_fairies. I hope this will good for you all.
Two days have passed and it finally reached to Saturday. It was certainly a great Saturday to everyone. Applejack woke up from the beautiful sunlight hitting through her window. Always beautiful as ever.
She wanted to sleep through the morning and get her sleep system out of her. But she remember; if it's Saturday, that means today is bowling day.
Bowling day is where she and her friends gather at the bowling alley and play against each other. Usually they have to play rock papers scissors to see who plays and they go in alphabet order, forward and backward, to see who goes first.
She got up and was getting ready. Her folks already knew about her busy Saturday and were totally fine with it. She needs a break sometimes.
Applejack finally had her clothes on and was brushing her blond hair. By then, she looked into one of her photos. It was her parents before they died and Big Mac, Granny Smith, and Applebloom were in the picture, including Applejack when she was super young. She smiled, having many memories come back to her. She just feels still it's all her fault they died.
She shook her head and told herself "No. Not gonna think about it today. It's a day off for you. No sad memories for Applejack."
By then, she was finally ready and received a text from Rainbow Dash.
"You coming or what? Lol"
-Rainbow Dash
"I'm ready to go RD 😉"
-Applejack
"FINALLY!!! Lol"
-Rainbow Dash
She smiled at the text message. Rainbow Dash is so crazy.
But then Applejack just realized something; Sunset Shimmer. They probably have to do the project still. They already finished three chapters but aren't close to finishing it. Then again, they can't always be focus on the story. It isn't done till another week or so.
But then Applejack had an idea.
She grabbed her phone and texted to Rainbow Dash once again.
"I might be a little late btw 😉"
-Applejack
A few minutes later...
KNOCK KNOCK!
Applejack was pretty glad she was finally going to see what Sunset Shimmer's father is like. Unless she never sees him. She was a bit scared to do so.
The door finally open and Applejack was seeing a tall man with light orange skin like Sunset Shimmer's but had magenta hair that was buzzed cut. He wore a black shirt that was tore and blue jeans. He even had light blue eyes. But he looked very.... odd?
There was a strange feeling about this guy that Applejack wasn't really feeling well about. He was actually kinda scary.
She cleared her throat and said politely "Howdy partner. Is Sunset Shimmer home?"
"Who?" The man said.
Applejack only looked confuse at him. "You know, your daughter?"
"I don't have a daughter." He said sounding a bit rude but still lost.
Applejack didn't understand. This was where Sunset Shimmer lives. She could be at the wrong apartment but this man looks a lot to be Sunset's father.
"Um... the girl that lives with you and looks like you?" She hope that help or something.
"Oh yeah. Hold on." He closed the door leaving Applejack standing there.
She waited, being patient. She still didn't understand why this man doesn't believe Sunset Shimmer couldn't be his daughter. She has his skin and eyes. What could make them not relate?
Suddenly...
CRASH!!
"Come on you little brat! Get up!" The man's voice spread through the apartment. He certainly was loud.
What Applejack didn't like was how he was sounding. And who was he calling a brat?
She knew it was wrong, but she had to know. She twisted the door knob and walked in seeing the entire home. It was a mess and torn up as well. The windows were broken and there were certainly rats crawling through the floor. Especially the walls.
"Just leave me alone!" She heard Sunset Shimmer's voice yell. It came from the kitchen.
SLAP!
By then, Applejack saw Sunset Shimmer fall onto the living room and had a huge hand mark on her face. It was red and looked like it hurt.
"You keep your mouth shut!" The man yelled. Soon a door being slammed was made and he seemed to be gone.
Sunset Shimmer cried on the floor holding the mark that burned her cheek.
Applejack has never seen something like this ever happen before. It's gotta be that bad. She bend to her knees and said softly "Are you okay?"
Sunset gasped as she saw Applejack and was blushing embarrassed. "What... What are you doing here?"
"I was..... going to ask you if you-"
"I told you to wait outside!"
They both jumped once they saw him come back. He had a bat in his hand. He did not look happy.
Sunset then grabbed Applejack's wrists and said "Let's go." Then she led her out of the apartment.
"Oh sure! Leave me alone! You're worthless like your mother!"
Sunset Shimmer ignored him and continued to dragged Applejack away from the apartments. They got in the truck and sat there silent.
Applejack felt awkward she walked in on them. She looked at Sunset rubbed her cheek. "Does it hurt?" She asked.
Sunset felt she be honest and says "A little."
Applejack leaned down in her seat and grabbed her ice box. Once she open it, she pulled out an ice pack and tried handing it to Sunset. "Here you go."
"No. I don't want it." Sunset said trying to move away from it.
"Sugarcube, that looks like it hurts. Ice always keeps it calm."
Sunset only stared at the ice package. She finally took a breath and grabbed it. She almost dropped it by how cold it was. Then she gently places it on her burned cheek.
She gasped a few times but felt better after it stopped tingly.
"Feel better?" Applejack asked, hoping it did.
"Yeah. Thank you." She said stuttering a little.
"Forgive me for asking, but is he always like that?"
".... Yeah."
"But why? Is he like, your boyfriend or something?"
"No. That's my father."
Now Applejack was in shock. That man said he didn't have a daughter but knew who she was. This was a big surprise for her. She only stared at the girl she once hated. She saw her eyes were glassy and sniff by rubbing her nose.
Sunset looked at Applejack with her glassy eyes and said, "Now why are you here?"
Applejack had forgotten all about that. The yelling had her so distracted. She cleared her throat and said, "I was coming over to ask if maybe you wanted to go bowling with me and my friends."
Sunset only looked puzzled. "Why me?"
"I don't know. I thought maybe you wanted to at least try, and not be a pain in the butt with my friends like you usually are."
Sunset Shimmer wanted to laugh, but couldn't with the red mark on her cheek. She only gave a small smile, but then it immediately went away as Sunset held her hands together. "Well thanks, but I get the feeling I shouldn't. There's no point if I get dirty looks because I'm there, and you saw how my morning just went. I already don't want to face people."
"But that doesn't mean of what he did was right." Applejack said. "I know I probably don't make sense, but just because he ruined your morning, doesn't mean you'll have a bad day with people staring at you."
Sunset still had that face, showing that she doesn't believe in her.
With being a good person, Applejack place her hand onto Sunset's, and raised her arm to lift up. Sunset stared at the blond lost and only felt her heart thud at the speed of light. The cow girl's smile was like a ray of sunshine and her voice was so warming, Sunset wanted to cry with her words, "And it won't be so bad if I'm there for you."
She felt so speechless and only stared at her green eyes. A tear fell down her cheek, cooling down the hot mark. "R-Really?"
"Of course sugarcube." Applejack said. "But you're gonna have to not be so rude when we get there."
Sunset finally laughed and said, "I'll try. I can't promise a thing."
"I know." She winked at her with a smile of her on.
They finally pull their hands away, started the engine of the truck, and drove off.
The long drive wasn't much. They actually didn't really talk as much as last time. Sunset Shimmer had to keep putting the ice pack back on her cheek each time as it sting. There wasn't any music playing, just silence.
But they manage to make it to the bowling alley and there was a little of people actually there. Once they walked in, they were greeted by the guy at the counter welcoming them. They heard music in the walls that was jamming for everyone and the sound of people's voice was in the air. They could smell the delicious food that was being made in the lunch corner. Sunset was the one who had eyes filled with such surprise.
Applejack spotted her friends at their usual station. She poked Sunset's shoulder and lead her to her friends. She had the red hair girl stand behind her for she was not intending to be seen.
Pinkie was the first to notice Applejack and smiled with glee. "Applejack!"
Everyone saw their country friend and greeted her as she waved hello.
"What the heck took you so long to get here?" Rainbow Dash asked.
"I wanted to bring someone to our little game." She said.
"Oh, is Applebloom here?" Fluttershy asked.
Applejack nodded her head and moved a step away to let the appearance of Sunset Shimmer be revealed.
The girls were in shock to see this girl standing close to them and wasn't giving an ugly face like she usually does. She stood there and gave them a small wave smiling very awkwardly.
They waited for someone to speak, but nothing came out.
"Hi... Sunset?" Rainbow said sounding very lost.
"Hey guys." She said looking at the floor.
Rarity's voice had made her voice be cleared and said calmly, "With all do respect Applejack..." She closed her eyes a moment and didn't have a pretty face. She looked angry when she open her eyes and yelled, "HOW COULD YOU BRING SUNSET HERE?!"
Applejack felt her ears vibrate from Rarity's yelling and had eyes that were wide with surprise. She then said, "I thought since we barley spend time together in the book, that maybe she would want to bowl."
The girls still didn't seem to understand what she was implying to them. "What made you think she would want to play?" Rainbow asked.
Sunset rolled her eyes and said, "Look if there's a problem with me being here, I can go."
"Sounds good to me."
"Now hold up." Applejack stopped them. They only stared with hatred in their eyes. She sigh and said, "Listen gals, I understand there are times that Sunset has done many wrong mistakes in the past..."
"Ha ha." Rainbow mocked to her.
Sunset growled.
"But you guys haven't seen what she's really like."
Sunset looked at the farm girl surprised. "Really?"
She turned her head to her and said, "Yes. I have seen many new amazing things about you Sunset, and I feel they should get to see the real you." Then she turned back to her friends and said, "Will you girls give her a chance?"
"I will!" Pinkie smiled widely bouncing up and down to the two of them.
Applejack and Sunset only waited for someone else to say something. Nothing was spoken from each girl.
Suddenly, the little shy girl walked up to her farm friend and said, "I would like to see the other her."
Applejack smiled as she saw her friend agreed to give her chance, and even more surprise from one other person.
"Very well darling." Rarity said. "But if you dare to act ridiculous or rude, I will have no choice but to misjudge you again."
Applejack gave Rarity and thumbs up for agreeing. Now all eyes were on the athletic girl waiting for her response. She still had the face of being bold and not wanting to give in. Rainbow didn't dare herself to agree to something she didn't believe. She only stared deeply at Applejack and Sunset as she saw a different thing between them. She sighed and took another long moment of silence. Then she finally spoke. "Let's play."
The girls smiled and cheered ready to play. Pinkie went to the food corner to get them some snacks as they were deciding who will go first.
"Alright," Rainbow said. "Who thinks who should go first?"
"I'm think we should let someone who is always last go first." Rarity said as she looked at the shy girl.
Fluttershy looked surprised and felt nervous. "Oh, are you sure?"
"You don't normally play first anyway Fluttershy." Rainbow pointed out.
"But that's because I feel everyone wouldn't want me to take forever and..." Fluttershy knew for a fact that her friends really want her to actually try challenges that were simple; though they weren't really challenging.
She wasn't thrilled to be first and grabbed her bowling ball as the girls on tinted to decide who was next.
Pinkie Pie came back with a giant tray filled with loads of snacks. She jump making a few crumbs fall behind her and made some of the soda drinks have a few drops fall out. She sat next to Sunset and laced the tray on their table. Her friends were surprised by the food.
"Why do we need this much food?" Sunset asked.
"Simple! That way we have enough to eat for the whole day!" She gave a giant smile as she ate her hotdog that had mustard and ketchup.
The girls only giggled at their silly friend for her silly actions. They then took a glance at Fluttershy as she still was standing holding the bowling ball. She was nervous, and the ball was very heavy in her thin hands.
But she was able to be ready. She threw her hand that held the ball back and stared deeply at the bowling pins as they stood there. It was as if they were teasing her to throw it towards them. She finally threw the ball on the shiny floor that lead to the pins. But instead of a fast one like most people do, her bowling ball was very slow. It was rushing itself to go to pins.
Rainbow face palm herself. "You've got to be kidding me. Really Fluttershy?"
Sunset chuckled and muttered, "Weak."
She then felt her arm being punch by a hand and saw Applejack have an unhappy look. She raised her hand and shook her finger to Sunset. "That's not nice."
Sunset sighed and laid back, pretending she didn't say anything.
"So is the ball gonna make a score or what?" Pinkie asked as she watch the ball.
It was still moving very slowly but it was getting close to the bowling pins. Once it had a little touch of one pin, suddenly all the pins fell! Every single one of them!
Fluttershy was surprised she scored and cheered for herself. "I did it!" Bit then she saw her friends look so surprised. She blushed and said calmly, "I mean, yay."
"Alright Fluttershy!" Rainbow gave her a high five as she went to the table with her friends. Then Rainbow turned her head towards the and said, "Who's next?"
"I believe it is me darling." Rarity said as she stood on her feet and walked to where the bowling balls are. She grabbed a pretty magenta ball and stood in front of her friends. She stared at where the pins were located and said, "Now understand, that a lady must have grace, and beauty when it comes to winning at a certain game like this."
Sunset Shimmer was puzzled. She looked at Applejack hoping for an explanation. Even Applejack didn't know what she meant.
"Why don't you quit being miss pretty and grace and throw it already?" Rainbow said.
Rarity only rolled her eyes and looked back at the pins. Then she threw her ball and it went rolling towards the pins in a straight line. She smiled with glee. "I'm gonna win!"
Suddenly, once the ball was close to hitting the pins, it went in a change of direction and went to the right not hitting a single one. Unfortunately, Rarity lost.
Rarity's jaw dropped as she saw she didn't make the score. She heard Rainbow Dash's laughter echo through the bowling alley. Pinkie was giggling too but wasn't making fun of her. She stomps back to the table and said, "This isn't over yet."
Sunset did her best not to laugh and only snickers came out.
"My turn! My turn!" Pinkie jumped up and bounce to the balls grabbing one. She was very excited and stared deeply at the pins. She turned to her friends and said, "Alright, I'm about to unleash it!"
"Unleash what?" Fluttershy asked.
"The balloon power up!"
"Oh no." Applejack knew this wasn't gonna be good.
Sunset looked at her and ask, "What?"
"Duck your head soon." Applejack warned her.
Pinkie then twisted her hips and threw the bowling ball really hard. Instead the bowling ball was on the rail which was impossible to get the ball off of. But then suddenly, the ball was lift up and thrown in the air backwards. It was heading towards the girls and only Rarity screamed, "Duck!"
They each ducked their heads and waited for the ball to land. Then the ball was thrown again but the cushion of the seat that was empty and it went towards another man at the food corner who was giving out cupcakes. He screamed and ran away as the ball flew towards him. Then the ball landed on the plate throwing the cupcakes in the air. The cupcakes was landing everywhere. Some fell onto people's heads, some fell onto the arcade games, and one hit another man's bowling ball and made him lost. Pinkie's bowling ball came back to her and went straight towards the bowling pins and smashed them. With that finished, Pinkie received a flying cupcake in her hand. She looked back at her traumatized friends and giggled, "I win!"
They laughed at their friend and clapped for her success. She sat back down licking the frosting as Rainbow Dash grabbed a blue bowling ball and was ready for her turn. As everyone knows, Rainbow Dash is the best of the best. She didn't need gave or anything. She threw her arm back and threw her ball to the bowling pins. Then she made her score.
Her friends cheer for her victory as she felt very honor to do it. "See? I don't nee grace like Rarity."
"Ha ha." Rarity only laughed.
Pinkie then looked at Sunset and ask, "Hey Sunset, why don't you go next?"
Sunset had wide eyes as she was asked that. She only stared an Pinkie and then looked at her hands. "Uh, no thanks. I don't play games."
Even though Sunset said it nicely, she somehow had a feeling Sunset was only trying her. "Oh what's the matter?" She smiled with pride. "Afraid to break a nail on those little sticks you call fingers."
"Rainbow!" Applejack said.
That was very uncalled for the athletic girl.
Sunset Shimmer growled and stood up. "It's on. Give me a ball."
Rainbow sat back down and Sunset grabbed another ball and stood where she was facing the bowling pins. She almost dropped her ball though; she didn't imagine it to be that heavy. She has never done the game of bowling before but, she is determine to show Rainbow she ain't some wimp.
As Rainbow watched, Applejack only kept staring at her with an evil eye. "What is wrong with you?" She whispered.
"Nothing." She whispered. "I know Sunset, and I know for a fact she is willing is always make it as if she's innocent. I know she was teasing me."
Sunset couldn't help but hear Rainbow Dash. She wanted to put the ball down and give up. She knew she was a big bully in school, but she didn't think it would be this bad to where students talk bad about her. But she knew she deserve it.
"If you ask me, it didn't seem like she was at all."
Sunset heard Applejack say that and wanted to look back but only stayed still. She did her very best to hear from the crowd and music. She wanted to hear what Applejack had to say.
"It seemed to me is that she was actually a bit nervous to try something she probably never has done before."
"Okay who wasn't done bowling?" Rainbow laughed.
"Maybe her, but that's no excuse for you to say that to her when she didn't say anything rude about you RD."
Rainbow only stared at Applejack. She wasn't sure if this was her friend or not. She sighed and only looked away. "Well done. But I do know she's not gonna win."
Now Sunset was definitely determine to win this. She only hope she doesn't make a fool of herself. She took a deep breath and stared at the pins one last time. Then she threw her bowling ball and it rolled all the way to the bowling pins. Then without a single mistake, the bowling pins were knocked down.
The girls cheered for her as she was surprised at herself. Pinkie was the first and only to hug Sunset Shimmer very tightly. "That was super duper sweet!" She squealed.
"Truly amazing!" Rarity said with a smile.
"But I only knocked down the bowling pins like you guys." Sunset didn't seem to understand why they were being so supported for her.
Applejack was the one to answer. "Without having to much of anything like everyone did. That's what makes it amazing."
Sunset blushes by so much support.
Everyone looked down at the Rainbow Dash and she has wide eyes and her jaw had fallen. She couldn't believe it. She shook her head and leaned back trying to look cool again. "Alright alright. Impressive. I guess I got some competition."
Sunset chuckled and said, "Some competition?"
"Don't push it."
They only laughed at their friend and continued to play for the whole day. The whole day, Applejack only noticed one amazing thing about Sunset, other than the bowling ball success: she was actually smiling like a person
A/N: I'm sooooooo hungry! And in love :3 lmao I hope you all enjoyed this. I understand if it was a bit boring but hopefully the next two will be a big more interesting. Hehehhehe I'm excited! Bye!
