Chapter 3: Davis the Vampire
The next day at school, Vi and I saw Davis walking with Caitlyn. Suddenly, one of Caitlyn's Heathers approached them with a camera guy behind her.
"Is it true?" She asked him.
"Is it true?" Davis asked confused, before looking to Caitlyn. "What do you think?" He responds before the two walk away.
"This is totally the most amazing thing to ever happen at this school." The other girl says, turning to face the camera. "It's true. Davis Pell is really, actually, a vampire."
"You have got to be kidding me." I say under my breath.
"What?" Vi asks.
"I mean come on, I've been pulling the vampire thing for years and I'm apparently weird for doing so. Suddenly he seems to have a few unfortunate mishaps that make him seem like a vampire and suddenly everyone's all over him."
"It's just those crazy Twilight fangirls." Vi says.
"Says the one who's borrowing my books."
"Hey, you know I'm more of a Jacob girl. And you can't seem to decide between Jasper and Riley."
"At least there aren't as many fangirls here after them. Now come on, we gotta get to class."
We continued our usual class work until English, where Vi and I both decided to get Davis's attention.
"Does this happen to you a lot?" Vi asked him.
"Do you go to new schools and people think you're a supernatural creature?" I add.
"Were you Rocket Racoon at your last school?" Vi adds jokingly.
"What makes you think I'm not really a vampire?" Davis asks.
Vi and I exchanged a knowing look.
"You act like you're 14, not 400. You go out during the day without a daylight ring or any other sort of protection which pretty much goes against the most basic of vampire lore. And you are in no way suave." I say.
"Oh, yeah, and vampires aren't real." Vi adds. "Except Sarah of course."
Davis seemed to be stumped by what we just said, and started to go back to his assignment until Caitlyn blew a kiss at him.
"Don't worry, we're not going to say anything." Vi says.
"Why not?" Davis asks.
"Because you're making everybody look like idiots." I respond, "I kind of love that. But some advice. You're going to have to step up your game if you want to keep this up."
Later that day, Vi and I were hanging out at my place having a Vampire Diaries mini marathon.
"What are the odds he's still trying to catch up on all the lore?" Vi asked.
"Probably high." I respond, "There's a lot to go on. Books, movies, shows, it's endless."
"Bet he could use our help." Vi says
"I want to second that bet, but I'm not calling him to find out." I respond.
"Come on, take the bet. Usual round. Same number, you call him. Or text. Different numbers, you don't." "Vi says.
"Okay, fine. I'll take the bet." I say as we turn and face each other. "Out of 10?"
"Yeah." Vi responds.
"3, 2, 1, 4." We say at the same time.
"Ha, same number." Vi says.
"Shut up." I tell her as I pull out my phone to text Davis, who gave me his number after English.
'Ready for some help, Dracula?' I wrote.
'Yes please.' He responded shortly after.
'Meet outside school tomorrow.' I write back.
"So what did he say?" Vi asked.
"The newborn needs to learn the ways of our kind." I say.
