"I understand," Shuichi sighed "but it's not your fault Gonta. Besides, this area has lots of unused natural springs. I'm sure your family can find another one."

"Thank you Shuichi!" Gonta beamed.

"Still though..." Shuichi's face remained disgruntled, "do we need to use it like...this?"

"Like what?" Gonta asked.

"...Naked?" Shuichi asked.

Sure enough, after leaving their clothes in a nearby shed, Shuichi stood naked with Kaito and Gonta. He was nervously covering his junk, while his two friends weren't making any attempt to do so for theirs.

The area was relatively quiet that day. No one was around, and it seemed like the three Ultimate's were going to be by themselves. Still anxious though, Shuichi waddled behind Gonta and Kaito as they strode towards the bath.

However, the former two should have known better than to doubt Shuichi's detective instinct, as it turns out that, indeed, someone was in the bath that Gonta was taking them to.

And not just anyone. A woman of about their age, with smooth, ash-blonde hair, reaching just above her shoulders. She wore a pair of small, round glasses that steamed up from the heat of the bath she sat in. Unlike the boys, she appeared to be wearing a pink bathing suit. Shuichi and Kaito both panicked upon seeing her, and accidently exclaimed a name out loud.

Kaito actually paused for a moment, looking down at the water, and giving it a bit of patient thought.

"Let's just go..." Shuichi sighed, "you can stay here Gonta. Sorry to bother you again, Miss."

"No trouble," she said, "have fun down there."

"Gonta see you later!" Gonta waved after them.

"I think this is what that girl was talking about," Shuichi said to Kaito, as the two naked Ultimate's approached the river "hopefully this is..."

"Huh? Wait...is someone there?" the boys suddenly heard a voice, and as they stepped down towards the spring, saw two figures already sitting in the bath.

"Aw, that's really sweet of you!" Kaori grinned, "but honestly, if we had done that, I bet Kaede would have been more willing to come along."

"Why that?" Gonta asked, "she not like long journey?"

"Well, no, she doesn't, but that's not really what I meant," Kaori smirked, "you said your friend's name was Shuichi, right? And he's in your class too? Is he this "Ultimate Detective" person?"

"Yes...you know?" Gonta asked. Kaori chuckled.

"Oh, yeah, I know alright," she said, "it's hard to hear any conversation about her day without Shuichi being brought up. Between you and me...she's sweet on the guy."

"Hm...Everyone in class always talking about how obvious Shuichi and Kaede are..." Gonta said, "Gonta not sure what that mean, but...are you saying same?"

Kaori nodded smugly.

While this was going on, things had calmed down a little over at the other bath. Kaito, Shuichi and Maki were all still completely red in the face, Kaede blushing slightly, but rolling with the situation just as her sister did.

"Sorry you guys had to see that..." Kaito bowed apologetically, "we didn't bring bathing suits but...Shuichi and I can go back and put our pants on if it helps."

"This bath is a little too cold..." she said, "I don't think enough of the volcanic water actually flows into here..."

"Maki and I found a rock up the stream here that's limiting how much of the water actually gets in," Kaede explained, "if we can shift it, we can probably get more heat flowing in...But we weren't able to do it by ourselves, even with Maki's strength."

"I see...Well, since we're here now, why don't we try it again?"

"Do you want our help or not?"

All of a sudden, Maki, who was with the group, suddenly stood up, hanging her head, and walked towards Kaito. She grabbed him by the loose sleeve of his jacket and pulled him out of earshot.

"Agh! Hey! Maki-roll! What's-!?"

"I need to talk to you!" she snapped, "privately!"

"Is that all you wanted to ask?" Kaito wondered, as Maki began to explain herself, "that we were gonna get back into training this term? Why wouldn't we?"

"Well, it's not JUST that..." Maki fiddled with her thumbs, "just...have you spoken to Gonta or Kaori since...the last time we saw each other?"

"N-No, not really..." Kaito flushed, "at least not about...what happened."

"Well, I guess I should say that Kaori and Gonta really hit it off. In a couple of weeks, they want to invite everyone out again to the same place, this time us girls are gonna come with you..."

"Oh..." Kaito realized, "if Gonta's gonna lead the team again, I guess next time it's gonna be all-you-can-look-at-naked, huh?"

"I bet Shuichi's excited about it...He'll get to have a little more skinship with his gorgeous naked angel Kaede..." Maki pouted.

Neither side followed up on this, both too flustered to speak.

"This uh...doesn't stop us being friends, does it?" Kaito asked.
