She had always loved the ocean. The soft, rhythmic pounding against the sand. The salty breeze twisting through her hair. The cool water gently parting for her.

Practically her entire childhood had been spent beside the sea. Every weekend waking up to go and explore its depths. Searching the clear tide pools for a critter to join her collection. Whenever she talked about her past, the salty waters were always a part of it.

Her smile always grew bigger whenever water was involved, which seemed almost impossible considering how much she smiled. Always there to lift there the mood. She was an angel on earth.

But in the water, she was a beast. It seemed to me that she became one with it. Her movements were swift and cut through the waves. She never tired, instead, the water re-energized her. At her elementary, middle and high school swim teams, she had been the ace.

Even her personality seemed to reflect the waves. She could be calm and gentle, the soft currents that guided sailors home. But if she ever got angry, nothing could stop her. She would become a storm, the type that had 50 foot waves slamming ships against the rocks until they became nothing more than a pile of broken pieces. Relentless.

After It happened, and everything had gone to hell, she turned to the sea for comfort. Whenever we were close by she would instantly dive in, regardless of her surroundings. Around the fire, when all hope seemed lost, she'd weave tales of her adventures in the vast blue, of the things she'd seen and done, until there was a smile on everyone's face.

She had loved the ocean. So we found it only fitting that it's currents be the ones to lay her soul to rest.

I do love the ocean, especially since it's such a beautiful mix of blue, green and white. Also, two chapters in one day!
