Part 9
The days flew by as the wedding functions continued, and amidst all the hustle and bustle, Manik and Nandini managed to carve out some time for themselves. Although the resort was buzzing with guests and family, they stayed connected through video calls and messages whenever they could. Today was Haldi, and both of them had agreed to keep their PDA to a minimum, though Manik wasn't entirely sure about this decision. He had only agreed because Nandini promised that if something urgent came up, he'd be there to help her out.
The Haldi decorations were well underway, and everyone was busy with their respective tasks. Manik was overseeing the garden setup, while Nandini was managing the interior arrangements. Naira, as always, wanted her sister by her side and wouldn't let Nandini out of her sight for long.
After finishing her work, Nandini wandered outside to check on the garden when she spotted Manik coming her way. As soon as their eyes met, she flashed him a bright smile.
Manik smiled and said, "Morning, sunshine."
Nandini grinned, replying, "It's afternoon already, Mr. Malhotra."
Manik grinned back, "Umm, okay, but your smile is as bright as the morning sun, so why not call it morning?"
Nandini chuckled, "That was cheesy, but THANK YOU."
Manik laughed too, "I know, right? I'll never be able to pull off such lines, and I'm so glad you don't mind them."
Nandini smiled and said, "Well, you're lucky then."
Just as they shared the moment, Naira's voice called out from a distance, "DIIIII DII, WHERE ARE YOUUU?"
Manik raised an eyebrow, surprised by the sudden shout.
Manik teasingly said, "Go on, run. Your sister can't even breathe without you."
Nandini smiled and waved him off, "Yeah, I'll see you later."
She went to help Naira get ready, who was insistent on having her sister around at all times. Once Nandini helped her sister, she got ready herself for the Haldi ceremony.
Today was the day for the big celebration. They had their Roka after Kaira's wedding, and everyone was excited.
Nandini finished getting dressed, but she found herself struggling with the strings of her outfit.
Nandini called out, "Mammmaa Mammma!"
Ishita, who was downstairs, couldn't hear her calls.
Meanwhile, Manik was passing by her room when he overheard her calling out for help. He knocked on the door.
Nandini said, "Come in!"
As soon as Manik entered, he was once again mesmerized by her beauty. He couldn't help but admire her, and she was equally taken aback by how handsome he looked today. They seemed to complement each other perfectly.
Nandini noticed him staring and felt flattered. But time was ticking, and they were getting late. So, she cleared her throat to grab his attention.
Manik asked, "Umm, need some help?"
Nandini smiled sheepishly and said, "Yeah, can you tie my strings?"
Manik nodded, "Of course."
He tied the strings, and in that moment, both of them felt something more than just attraction. It was an unspoken connection, something deeper than they'd acknowledged before.
Manik said, "Let's go, we're running late."
Nandini replied, "Hmm."
They descended the stairs together, and just as they were nearing the bottom, Nandini slipped. Before she could fall, Manik reached out and caught her.
They stood there for a moment, lost in each other's eyes. The world around them seemed to disappear. It wasn't just their eyes that were focused on each other—everyone around them had noticed the spark between them. They looked like a couple, lost in love.
Finally, they snapped out of the trance, and the murmurs of guests filled the air. People were commenting on how sweet they looked together.
Manik and Nandini quickly went to join their respective groups. The dance and singing began, and Nandini, alongside Naira, stole the show with her graceful movements. The two sisters always knew how to light up the stage.
Manik and Kartik were both mesmerized watching them. They were undeniably beautiful.
The Haldi ceremony ended on a high note, and everyone retired to their rooms.
Later that night, Manik and Nandini had a video chat.
Manik said, "You danced beautifully, trust me. Why didn't I know about this talent?"
Nandini replied, "I just don't dance often, that's why."
Nandini stood up to turn off the lamp, but suddenly she shrieked.
Nandini said, "Ahhh!"
Manik asked, "Nandini, are you okay? What happened?"
Nandini explained, "I slipped earlier, I must've hurt myself. And after dancing, it started hurting more."
Manik scolded her, "Why did you dance then? Are you mad?"
Nandini replied, "Manik, Naira would have been upset if I didn't."
Manik said, "Come on, she's your sister! She loves you, she'll be angry now for sure. You're crazy."
Nandini reassured him, "Manik, it's not that bad. It'll get better."
Manik said firmly, "Shut up, okay? I'm coming over."
Before Nandini could protest, he ended the call.
Ok that's all, difficult this was...
