WHY AM I SCARED OF THE DARK?

Why am I scared of the dark?
I remember it started at the age of nine.
When my vision had already crossed a horrifying line.
For I began seeing what logic can't define.

Why am I scared of the dark?
Indeed, it is a long tale to be told,
and only a few fragments I will unfold.
In the midst of the terror, I was not bold.

Why am I scared of the dark?
The truth is, I'm not actually scared of darkness' might.
I'm just scared of being alone in the depth of night,
and in such cases, I desperately seek the light,
while my being is engulfed in so much fright.

Why am I scared of being alone in the dark?
The reason lies in my childhood trauma;
a terrifying experience that could induce a coma.
I saw some frightening figures in the dark.
The memory is still fresh, for I remember them all in black.
