Chapter 54

Revati and Shrestha were having their girls time in the living room of the Jindal Bhavan that they have missed from so long in the past few years. They were laughing their heart out but their laughter died in their throat when they witnessed the two persons standing at the door of the living room. They shared a look to each other and then stood up slowly walking to them.

"Kahaan hai tumhari behan?", the old lady asked with her daunting voice making them gulp in nervousness.

Shrestha: Aap to jaante hi hai meri behan ke baare me phir kyun pooch rahe hai.

"Zyaada hoshiyari mat dikhao samjhi! Tum donon achhe se samajh rahi ho ki mai kiske baare me pooch rahi hun", she warned, burning them with her intimidating gaze.

Shrestha: Kya yaar Aunty ji aap to.......

"Chup!!! In sab ka time nahi hai mere paas. Apni behen ko bulao warna jo anjaam hoga uski zimmedari meri nahi!" She ended it with a final warning in her tone.

Revati immediately nodded her head and dialled AK's number who as usual didn't remember anything in Ahaana's presence as she went to meet her immediately after waking up from sleep.

Revati: Call unreachable bata raha hai.

She timidly spoke fearing her next reaction. The lady was about to burst out in anger but the other person who was her husband tried to calm her down.

"Ahaan kahaan hai?", she asked making their eyes widened and they shared a look at each other wondering how she knew about him.

"Tum logon ko kya laga ki mujhe kuchh pata nahi chalega. Sab pata hai mujhe, ab bas tumhare behen ke aane ki der hai. Kahin aisa to nahi ki dar kar pehle hi bhaag gayi, aadat jo hai uski, hamesha bhaag jaane ki", she taunted knowing her very well.

Shrestha: Dekhiye aap....

She was about to give her a befitting reply but was stopped by Revati who didn't want to make things anymore worse for her sister.

The other family members who were gathered in the living room listening to the loud voices of the lady were having a puzzled look on their faces not knowing anything about the uninvited guests they were having. Curiosly, Durga asked about them.

Durga: Koun hai ye donon?

Shrestha: Meri Di ke Saas Sasur hai.

She replied making everyone think that they were in the in-laws of AK only if they knew that her words were directed for her own sister and not AK.

Just then their gaze shift towards the door from where AK entered breathlessly as she hurried to reach here but was still late.

"Phone kahaan hai tumhara?", the lady asked AK as soon as she entered inside.

Not wanting to fuel her anger she handed out her phone which broke into pieces the next moment as it was crashed on the floor by the lady.

Saru: Ye kya kiya aapne?

She exclaimed sadly at the loss of such an expensive phone that deserved a better fate than to be crashed mercilessly.

"Jab ye tumhara koi kaam ka hi nahi to ise apne paas kyun rakhti ho?", she yelled at her taking out the anger when she wasn't receiving any of the calls.

Everyone looked at AK who was just silently listening to her without uttering a single word. The girl who seem to be  never at loss of words was silent as if she didn't even know how to speak, just made everyone wonder.

Ahaan entered along with Arya breaking the eerie silence covered there. Ahaan excitedly jumped on his mother exclaiming his happiness on how well he attempted his exam just because she prepared him for it. She stopped him in between his talks and asked him to freshen up when his gaze fell on the two other persons present there.

Ahaan: Mumma, ye to Dadu Dadi hai na?

He asked trying to confirm as he recognised their faces from the photos she has shown of them. Though, she has to ensure that both the kids live separately for their own safety she never let them feel deprived of their family. She always kept them aware of the fact that they have a beautiful family who may be miles far away from them but they need to keep them closer in their heart.

Seeing her nod in response, he neared them with the brightest of his smiles and touched their feet seeking their blessings. The lady's eyes brimmed with tears seeing her grandchild for the first time. She dreamt of this moment years ago but the moment she lost her son and daughter-in-law, that day she even lost the hope of seeing her grandchildren. Now, her happiness had no bounds seeing him after her dreams were completely broken and that her hopes were shattered.

"Mera bachha!", she hugged him closer to her assuming that she has her only son with him now. Undoubtedly, Ahaan was a replica of his father that made her live a replica of her dream.

Ahaan: Dadu, Dadi aap log waapas kab aaye? Aana hi tha to kal mere birthday par aate na, ham khoob saari masti karte. Aur aap mere liye gifts le kar aaye hai na ?

Mr. Rajput: Sorry beta ham kal kaam ke wajah se nahi aa sake. Lekin hamse aur wait nahi ho saka isiliye ham apna saara kaam complete karke aapse milne abhi aa gaye. Aur aapke liye bohot saare gifts bhi lekar aaye hai.

Ahaan's grandfather, Mr. Rajput spoke as his wife was still absorbing the overwhelming feeling of having her grandson infront of her but as soon as she realised his state she subsided those feelings and spoke up in anger.

Mrs. Rajput: Kal raat tak mera pota itna thaka hua tha aur tumne phir bhi use aaj school bhej diya. Tumhe is masoom par daya nahi aati kya.....

Revati: Ahaan, aap ko bhook lagi hogi na. Aap fresh ho kar aaiye phir ham lunch karenge. Jao, Arya tum bhi saath me jao.

She sent both the kids to their room not wanting Ahaan to witness how his grandmother was behaving with AK.

Shrestha: Aunty aapne thik se suna nahi tha kya Ahaan kya keh raha tha? Ahaan ke exams ho rahe hai isiliye wo school gaya tha warna Di use nahi bhejti.

Mrs. Rajput: Tumhe kuchh bolne ki zaroorat nahi hai. Mere pote ki fikar to kisi ko hai nahi yahaan bas iski tarafdaari karne sab pohonch jaate hai.

As they returned back after changing she happily chatted with Ahaan meanwhile AK brought the suitcase she has kept  prepared knowing what's gonna happen.

Mrs. Rajput: Chalo bohot baatein ho gayi ab ghar chalte hai.

AK handed over Ahaan's suitcase maintaning a blank face as if nothing is bothering her.

Ahaan: Ham Dadu Dadi ke saath rahenge?

Mrs. Rajput: Haan, ab ham saath me rahenge.

Ahaan: Yaayy!! Mai bhi apne saare friends ki tarah apne Dadu Dadi ke saath rahunga. Dadi aap bhi roz mujhe stories sunayenge na?

Mrs. Rajput: Ha haan zaroor, har roz ek nayi story sunaungi.

Ahaan: Ha to phir chalte hai.

He excitedly moved with his grandparents but stopped when he realised that his mother and Maasi weren't going with him.

Ahaan: Mumma, Maasi aap log kyun ruke huye hai, chaliye na.

AK: Ahaan aap akele ja rahe hai, ham aapke saath nahi aayenge.

Ahaan: Lekin mujhe akele nahi jaana. Aap log bhi chaliye na.

Mrs. Rajput: Abhi to aapko hamare saath rehna tha na, to ab us ki yaad kyun aa gayi.

Ahaan: Aapke saath rehna hai lekin mai Mumma aur Maasi ke bina nahi rahunga. Agar wo nahi aayenge to mai bhi aapke saath nahi jaaunga.

AK: Ahaan aap unke saath ja rahe hai.

Ahaan: To aap bhi chaliye na.

AK: Mai nahi aaungi, aapko unke saath akele jaana hoga.

Ahaan: To thik hai mai bhi kahin nahi ja raha. Mai aapke saath hi rahunga.

AK: Ahaan aap baat kyun nahi samajh rahe hai. Zid mat kariye aur chale jaaiye bas!!!

She raised her voice at him only to receive a hard slap on her cheek leaving all the members shocked. Mrs. Rajput slapped her for raising her voice speaking to his grandson. Ahaan cried seeing it and ran towards his mother but his grandmother stopped him midway not letting him reach her.

Kunal: Maasi!

He and Karan approached her as they arrived the moment she slapped her.

Ahaan: Bade Papa!!!

He cried moving towards him as he knew he could only help him get to his mother.

Kunal: Revati, Ahaan ko lekar andar jaao.

Mrs. Rajput: Ahaan kahin nahi jaayega. Wo hamare saath rahega. Bohot kar li tum logon ne apni manmarzi, ab ye sab nahi chalega. Chalo Ahaan!

Kunal: Maasi, kya kar rahi hai aap? Ahaan kaise rahega Chhoti ke bina.

Mrs. Rajput: Aadat daalni padegi use apne Maa ke bina rehne ki, waise hi jis tarah apne Baap ke bina rehte aaya hai.

Karan: Ye bohot galat kar rahe hai aap!

Mrs. Rajput: Aur tum logon ne jo kiya wo sahi tha kya? Mujhse itna bada sach chhupaya!!!

Kunal: Maasi, wo baat alag hai.....

AK: Bhai, jaane dijiye unhe.

Kunal: Chhoti, lekin...

AK: Bhai please! Ahaan par mujhse zyaada unka haq hai. Ahaan ka unke saath rehne me koi problem nahi hai.

Mrs. Rajput: Haq nahi hota tab bhi mai use apne saath le jaati. Naam ke liye hi sahi lekin ek achhi Maa kabhi nahi ban saki tum. Arey Maa kya banogi, jab apni hi Maa ki sagi nahi ho saki to kisi aur ki sagi Maa kaise ban sakti ho. Isiliye bhagwaan ne pehle se hi tumse ye khushi chheen li.

Karan: Maasi, bas kijiye. Kya bakwaas kiye ja rahi hai aap!

Mrs. Rajput: Sachayi kadwi hi hoti hai aur har kisi ko pasand bhi nahi aati lekin is sachayi ko koi badal bhi to nahi sakta na.

She angrily stormed towards the door holding Ahaan's hand but turned around when she remembered something.

Mrs. Rajput: Ek important baat to batana hi bhool gayi. Court se jald hi notice aane wala hai, Ahaan ke custody case ke liye.

NEXT MORNING,

AK exited her room after relaxing her tired form with a shower as she returned spending the whole day with Ahaana since the time Ahaan left with his grandparents. She saw no point being here missing him so, she visited Ahaana to make up for all the time she has missed with her who was more than happy to have her Mumma but at the same time confused as for why she was there all the time as she never has been except the times where she has been seriously ill which wasn't the case now.

She was walking towards the inbuilt temple of the house for the morning prayer and saw Dadi on her way. She asked AK to keep the thaali in the mandir till the time she manages to complete the work she has to do. Agreeing to her, she was walking with the thaali but soon her vision was blocked by a newspaper that landed on her face that was present on the table next to the window. The wind blew with such a force that it made the newspaper flow away and land on her face. She missed a step due to that and was about to fall but was held by AJ in the nick of the time. In order to hold her, the thaali got hit by his hand that made the vermillion (kumkum) present in it to fell on Guddan's head filling her hairline. Hearing the sound of the plate crashing with the floor Dadi and the other members came out assuming that a bad omen has happened but seeing them together she was elated with happiness.

AK stood straight coming out of her daze witnessing the other people looking at them. As she saw everyone keenly looking at her forehead she comfusingly touched it only to find her hand coloured from the vermillion. She looked at AJ who was busy looking at her hairline filled with it. Dusting it, she moved into her room to clean it completely.

AK: Kya Lord Krishna! Mai aapse help maangne aayi thi lekin aapko bhi lagta hai sirf mere zakhm taaza karne me maza aata hai. Ye kya kar diya aapne.

She complained to God cleaning her forehead. She has much more important works to deal with and here her past would never let her breathe without reminding it.

She exited her room as Kunal called her to discuss somethings related to the case.

AJ: Miss Kapoor.

He called out for her but ignoring him she continued walking until he himself held her to stop.

AJ: I need to talk.

AK: But I don't!

AJ: Shut up and just listen! Mujhe pata chala kal ke .....

AK: Kaha na mujhe koi baat nahi karni.

AJ: You just have to listen. You need not talk, Ok.

AK: Lekin mujhe kuchh sunna bhi nahi hai. Kal ke baare me to bilkul bhi nahi.

AJ: Tumhe sunna padega. I have talked to one of the best lawyers, he will handle this case. Don't worry Ahaan will be with you. You will win his custody. But I don't understand why did you let him go in the first place.

AK: Listen, I am not answerable to you, so just leave. And thanks for the lawyer but I don't need. Anyhow we will be losing the case.

AJ: And why do you think you would be losing it without even hearing the case. We will definitely win it. He is a good lawy....

AK: Are you kidding me Mr. Jindal? Do you even know who is Mr. Rajput? He is a retired judge of Supreme Court. Every lawyer from across the country would be lying at his feet at his one call and you seem to say that I will win this case because of some namesake lawyer.

AJ: You seem to be kidding Miss Kapoor. He might be powerful but you are not less aswell. You are Ahaan's mother and no power in this world can compete with a mother.

AK: Mother!!! Seriously!

She chuckled sarcastically reminding herself of the bitter truth.

AJ: What's wrong?

AK: It's......

Before she could speak, something landed on her face. It was the same newspaper from the morning scene. She irritatedly threw the newspaper on AJ who was standing next to her.

AK: Pehle to aap mujhe chain se jeene nahi dete the aur ab aapke ghar ke is newspaper ne bhi jeena haraam kar rakha hai.

She yelled at him and was ready to leave but a picture on the newspaper caught her attention. She immediately snatched the newspaper from his hand who was about to throw it and looked at the picture.

AK: Mil gayi help! Thank you Lord Krishna!

She excitedly moved out to reach Kunal's office so that they could start their work accordingly while he stood there puzzled at her fluctuating behaviors.
