Chapter 9

FLASHBACK,

Guddan was waiting on the bus stop for any means of public transport she could catch up to reach college. As Antara and Guddan are in different colleges, they both had to take different routes. Antara had already left while Guddan was still waiting hoping that she shouldn't be late on the first day of her college.

Even after a long wait she couldn't find any way to reach her college and was very much disappointed but suddenly a car stopped infront of her. She was surprised to see the person infront of her. He asked her to sit in the car with him but she denied.

Guddan: Aapne pehle bhi ek baar meri madad kari thi. Aap bhi kahin ja rahe hai. Meri wajah se aapko bhi late ho jayega. I will manage, Thankyou!

He was the same person who helped her last time in the restaurant, Akshat and Parv's father, Mahesh Jindal.

Mahesh: Mujhe to late nahi ho raha hai but I think you would be late if I won't help you. C'mmon get inside.

He said and sat on the driver's seat and opened the door for her to enter the passenger's seat. She was reluctant but as she had no other option to reach her college in a short span of time, she entered the car.

Guddan: Thankyou, ek baar phir meri help karne ke liye.

He smiled looking at her and lovingly caressed her head.

Mahesh: Thankyou kis liye, tum to meri beti jaisi ho.

His actions made Guddan remember her father and she smiled in response.

Mahesh: Waise, jaana kahaan hai tumhe?

Guddan: XYZ Junior College.

Mahesh: Aaj to tumhara first day hoga na?

Guddan: Aapko kaise pata?

Mahesh: Mere bete ka bhi admission wahin hua hai. Mai use drop karke ki waapas aa raha tha.

Guddan: Oh, aapko meri wajah se phir se wahaan jaana pad raha hai. Sorry!

Mahesh: Hey, it's Ok. So, which group have you opted for?

Guddan: Science!

Mahesh: Oh, great! My son has gone with Arts. So there are less chances ki tum donon kabhi mile but mil bhi sakte hai, afterall the same college.

Guddan: Yeah!

Mahesh: Don't mind me asking but kisi bhi bachhe ke life ke important stage me unke parents hamesha unke saath rehte hai. Aaj tum apni life ka, apni career ke liye ek step le rahi ho aur tumhare parents especially tumhare father tumhare saath kyun nahi hai?

She looked at him and was thinking of an appropriate answer for his question.

Guddan: Wo....hamare parents hamare saath Delhi me nahi rehte.

Mahesh: What do you mean by "hamare saath"? Tumhare saath yahaan koi aur bhi rehta hai? Koun?

Guddan: Meri Di.

Mahesh: Oh, itni kam umar me tum donon self independent ho rahi ho. Very good to witness this happening.

Guddan: Hamne kabhi nahi socha tha lekin haalat hi aise ho gaye.

Mahesh looked at her trying to depict the actual meaning behind her words as it wasn't usual for a young girl speaking so. Before he could ask something to her, she informed him that they have reached the college.

Mahesh: All the best! Have a great start today!

Guddan: Thankyou!

She stood and looked at the college building where a new chapter of the her life book was going to be started. She held the locket which she was wearing around her neck which had A and G engraved on it.

This locket always made her feel that her family is close to her even when they were not. Every member of her family had the same locket to reminisce each other's presence. She closed her eyes remembering her family and their motivational words and took a step forward with a smile on her face.

XYZ JUNIOR COLLEGE,

Parv and his friends were enjoying their first day of college. As they were roaming around, they saw the seniors ragging their batch mates at a distance and stopped at their tracks.

Rahul: Bro!!! The seniors are ragging!

Parv: Mujhe to dikh hi nahi raha hai. Mai to andha hun na.

He replied sarcastically and his friends shrugged as they are too used to his sarcastic remarks.

Nakul: What if they rag us?

Parv: Kar to nahi rahe hai na, to chalo chalte hai.

They were about to leave but they see them approaching a girl who was busy in checking something turning the pages of the book present in her hand. She was so indulged in it that she wasn't even aware of the surroundings. She stopped just a step away before she could bump into one of the seniors.

She looked at them and crossed walking past them completely ignoring but suddenly one of the boys was quick enough to come infront of her and snatched the book from her hands in which she was completely indulged.

She was very well aware that they were seniors and even their intention but she wanted to ignore them as much as possible as she didn't wanted to create any scene in the first day of college itself. She tried to take the book back from him but he held his hand high so that she couldn't reach it.

"Ohooo, Science student, not bad!" The boy said looking at the book.

"Lagta hai Doctor banna hai ise, isiliye pehle hi din se kitaab le kar poore college me ghum rahi hai", the other boy spoke up.

"Aisi baat hai to itni achhi handwriting ki zaroorat nahi hai tumhe. Doctors ki handwriting itni achhi thodi na hoti hai", the former boy spoke looking at her neat handwriting in the book he was holding and started laughing while the others joined him.

One of the boys looked at her ID card and read her name aloud.

"Guddan Gupta banegi Dr. Guddan, right???", he said and started laughing again giving high-fives to each other.

Guddan looked at them with anger but controlled herself. If she would have been the girl few months back, she would have punched him straight on his nose and he would end up lying on the floor with his nose bleeding.

Guddan: Mera book waapas do.

"Book chahiye tumhe?, ye lo, ye lo", he said forwarding it but pulled his hand back before she could take it.

"Arey, kya chehra bana rakha hai isne, bohot taras aa raha hai bechari par. Tch, tch, tch", the other boy spoke seeing her restless condition.

"Thik hai, zyaada pareshan nahi karte hai, book de dete hai lekin......", he held the page which she was looking at and was about to tear it when he heard someone speaking.

Parv and his friends who were witnessing the scene came forward so that they could see and hear them and acted as if they didn't knew what's going on around them.

Parv: Mai kisi bhi senior se nahi darta, koi meri ragging kar hi nahi sakta.

He spoke making his friends shocked. They nudged him that the seniors are here but he shrugged and continued his act so his other friend joined him.

Rahul: Kyun bhai, hame bhi to bata do!

Parv: Mere Papa is college ke trustee hai. Kisi ne bhi ragging to door ki baat hai, mere se oonchi awaaz me bhi baat ki na to mai Papa se keh kar usko rusticate karwa dunga.

His friends understood that he was helping that girl out from the seniors so they supported him.

Karthik: To kya akele akele maze lega tu? Sirf tere saath hi nahi kisi aur ke saath bhi agar aisa hua na to tu zaroor complain kar dena.

Parv: Kyun nahi! Ham sab ka haq banta hai. Sab ka matlab har ek junior ka.

Rahul: Yeah bro!! Ye huyi na baat.

They looked at the panic-stricken faces of the seniors and was laughing mentally on their state. The boy handed over the book to Guddan and left to their class with his friends.

Getting her book back, she headed back towards her way but was stopped by a voice.

Parv: Hey Guddan!

She turned and looked at him who approached her with his gang.

Parv: Maine tumhari help ki aur in return mujhe ek Thankyou bhi nahi mil sakta?

Guddan: Maine tumse mujhe help karne ke liye kaha tha?

Parv: How ungrateful you are!

Guddan: For your kind information, tum meri help nahi kar rahe the. Infact, apni waah waahi kar rahe the so that, tumhe usse faayda ho. So just forget about it ki mai tumhe tumhare hi faayde ke liye Thankyou kahungi.

With that she left from there making the mouth of the boys shut.

Karthik: The nerve of this girl!!!

Rahul: Jisne help kiya usi ko suna kar chali gayi.

Karthik: The great, fabulous, amazing, stupendous, handsome Parv Jindal ko usne ignore kiya.

Rahul: Bro, listen to me, uncle ko keh kar is ladki ko kal hi rusticate kara do.

Parv: Abey Duffer!! Mere Papa us ladki ko nahi balki mujhe is college se out kar denge.

Karthik: Lekin kyun?

Parv: Dimaag hai ya bech kar aa gaye ho tum log. Mere Papa koi trustee nahi hai, maine to bas un ke saamne aise hi keh diya tha.

Rahul: Wahi to mai sochun ki itni badi baat tum hamse to nahi chhupa sakte the. Aise hi hamare expectations badha diye.

Parv: Tum logon ko to khud ki padi hai. Yahaan wo mere ego ko kuchal kar chali gayi, mere muh par apne baaton se zor sa thappad laga kar chali gayi aur tum logon ko to mere Papa ki designation ki padi hai. Idiots!!!
Guddan Gupta be ready to witness the real Parv Jindal.
