Episode 52

Melanie's POV

I started to shake.

"So it's true. We're twins." I said. Zane chuckled

"And here I thought you two were too dumb to figure it out on your own." He sighed. I clenched my fists together.

"Should I tell Aphmau here your story?" Zane asked. I turned, and saw Aphmau frozen in a surprised state.

"Well here it is." He said.

"Long ago, two children of royalty were born. They were twins. One a boy, the other a girl. The girl was born first, and the Lord of the village panicked. They couldn't have their future Lord a girl. So, he sent her away to a different family, where she would be taken care of well. The boy would become the next Lord of this village." He said.

"That's awful." Aphmau murmured.

"Soon enough, faith decided the two would meet. In schooling, the two became best of friends. One day, the girl's mother had had enough of the girl. She beat her, and sent her away. Panicked, the girl went to the boy, and asked for shelter. The boy agreed that the girl could stay. One day, the boy was told of his duties to be the future Lord of the village. He refused once he was told he had to marry someone out of a treaty, not love. The boy planned to fake his death and run away. He was caught, of course, by the girl. She saw him start to plan out his fake death, and decided that she too would leave with him and run away. The girl also had her own duties. She was to become the female High Priest of this village, and to become that, she was to never marry in her life. She wasn't even allowed to love. So the two faked their deaths together, and ran away." Said Zane. He paused, smirking at Aphmau, Garroth and I's reaction.

"Aphmau, what if I told you that the girl and the boy were your head guards? What if I told you that the boy and girl were Garroth and Melanie?" He asked.

Aphmau looked at me and Garroth, astonished. I felt embarrassed. If we were to tell Aphmau about our past, we would tell her ourselves. The fact that Zane told her instead made my heart ache.

"Zane, I need you to leave. Now." Ordered Aphmau, staring at the floor. Zane gave us a smirk before leaving.

"W-Why didn't you two tell me?" She whispered. I swallowed, and looked at Garroth for an answer.

"Lady Aphmau, please understand that if we had told anyone, and our past was revealed, O'kasis would come find us and take us away." Said Garroth.

"I understand." She said. Then, Aphmau looked up at us.

"I'm going to go... Sleep. I'll see you tomorrow." She said, at loss for words as she walked home.

Garroth and I made our way to our own house, and I sat next to him. We meddled in the past, remembering our days in O'kasis.

"I remember the day you knocked on my castle doors, and asked if you could stay. You had bruises on your arms, and you were bleeding badly." Garroth sighed.

I remembered that day. I was about 14, and my mom- well, my adoptive mother- came home drunk. She was so mad at me for no certain reason, she started slapping me, and throwing things at me. After the abuse, she threw me out of the house. Literally. At that moment, I was already best friends with Garroth, so I had no choice but to ask to spend the night.

"I remember when Zane wasn't evil." I said.

After Garroth allowed me to stay, Zane was about ten and he wanted me to play with him. He was adorable.

"I hope I can fall asleep with ease." Garroth groaned, getting up and ready for bed.

-------------------------

The next morning, Garroth and I walked out into the forest. I thought I had heard a noise, so I asked Garroth to come with me and check it out.

Then, I saw something that looked really familiar.

A black dragon was there, and he looked ready to take his last breath. Garroth ran to get Aphmau, and I stayed behind.

"Y-You... You're the human Laurence cared for." The dragon spoke. I pet the dragon, and it flinched.

"Where is Laurence?" I asked. The dragon slowly nodded it's head to the left.

Laurence was laying down on the floor, knocked unconscious. I ran to him, and started to shake him.

"Laurence!? Laurence please wake up!" I cried. He stirred, but stayed knocked out.

"Laurence!" I yelled.

A/N So that was the first episode that ever got me to COMPLETELY HATE THE SIGHT OF ZANE'S FACE! Anyone else?
