Mery-Berry woke up to guards marching by her and Donkey. She saw that Farquaad was there on horseback, and that both Shrek and Fiona seem to be upset. Mery-Berry hugged her tail as one of the guards looked over her and she saw that Farquaad stops his horse in front of Fiona.

Farquaad: Princess Fiona.

Shrek: ( to Farquaad: ) As promised. Now hand it over.

Farquaad: ( to Shrek: ) Very well, ogre. The deed to your swap, cleared out, as agreed. Take it and go before I change my mind.

Shrek snatches the deed out of the hands of a guard and walks away. Mery-Berry could tell that Fiona was put off by the exchange before she returned her attention to Lord Farquaad.

Farquaad: ( to Fiona: ) Forgive me, Princess, for startling you, but you startled me- for I have never seen such a radiant beauty before. I am Lord Farquaad.

Fiona: Lord Farquaad? Oh, no, no. Forgive me, my lord, for I was just saying a short...

Farquaad snaps his finger and is lifted off his horse by his guards. Left behind on the horse is a large set of gauntlets and a pair of legs extenders that reached down to the stirrups, which made him look tall on the saddle, and he was set down in front of Fiona.

Fiona: ... farewell.

Farquaad: Oh, that is so sweet. You don't have to waste good manners on the ogre. It's not like it has feelings.

Fiona: No, you're right. It doesn't.

Mery-Berry watched in saddess, as she was scared and confused about what was happening.

Farquaad: Princess Fiona, beautiful, fair, flawless, Fiona. I ask your hand in marriage.

Farquaad gets down on one knee and takes Fiona's hand, pulling her down sharply.

Farquaad: Will you be the perfect bride for the perfect groom?

Mery-Berry was mentally hoping that Fiona would say no. Fiona's sad expression turned into bitterness when Shrek turned away from her.

Fiona: Lord Farquaad, I accept. Nothing would make-

Farquaad: Excellent! I'll start the plans, for tomorrow we wed!

Fiona: No!

Shrek spins back around with a hopeful look on his face while Fiona tries to regain her composure and Mery-Berry was holding back tears.

Fiona: I mean-ah, why wait? Let's get married today. Before sunset.

Shrek scowls and turns away. Mery-Berry's ears flattened backwards on her head with a sad expression.

Farquaad: Oh, anxious, are we? You're right. The sooner, the better. There's so much to do!

Farquaad snaps his fingers and is lifted back onto his horse by his guards. The guards offer Fiona assistance, but she got on the saddle on her own.

Farquaad: There's the caterer, the cake, the band, the guest list. Captain, round up some guests!

Fiona, Farquaad, and his guards set off towards Duloc. Fiona gives Shrek one last spiteful look.

Fiona: Fare thee well, ogre.

Mery-Berry watched as Fiona left with Farquaad and his guards with tearful eyes. She turns her head and saw that Shrek was yelling at Donkey, but she couldn't hear what he was saying. She then saw Shrek stomp off, and she couldn't take it. Mery-Berry then ran off crying, and Donkey saw her run off.

Donkey: ( sadly: ) Mery...

( Slight time skip )

Mery-Berry stopped at a river with tear stained cheeks, she then saw Dragon a few feet beside her. Mery-Berry then quickly ran to Dragon with her eyes filling with tears again, and she hugged Dragon's arm. Dragon looked at her with slight surprise and concern, and she also had tear filled eyes.

Mery-Berry: ( between cries: ) Auntie Fiona and Uncle Shrek are mad at each other and just left... I don't want to lose another family...

Dragon slowly and gently picked Mery-Berry up and hugged her, both of them comforting each other. They then saw Donkey, and Dragon was happy to see him again while Mery-Berry was still hugging Dragon as tears fell down her face.

Donkey: It's okay, Mery. I think it's time for Uncle Donkey to have a talk with Shrek.

( Another time skip, with Donkey because there's no way I'm going to leave my favorite scene. )

Donkey was outside Shrek's home and was assembling a line of branches and small rocks. Shrek then went outside and walked to Donkey.

Shrek: Donkey? What are you doing?

Donkey: I would think, of all people, you would recognize a wall when you see one.

Shrek: Well, yeah. But the wall's supposed to go around my swamp, not through it.

Donkey: It is, around your half. See that's your half, and this is my half.

Shrek: Oh! Your half? Hmm.

Donkey: Yes, my half. I helped rescue the princess, and I seem to be the only one that cares about Mery-Berry. I did half the work. I get half the booty. Now hand me that big old rock, the one that looks like your head.

Shrek starts pulling down the wall and picks up a large branch. Donkey butts his head against it and the two struggle over it.

Shrek: Back off!

Donkey: No, you back off!

Shrek: This is my swamp!

Donkey: Our swamp!

Shrek: Let go, Donkey!

Donkey: You let go!

Shrek: Stubborn jackass!

Donkey: Smelly Ogre!

Shrek: Fine!

Shrek suddenly lets go of the branch, tripping Donkey over, and he walks away.

Donkey: Hey, hey, come back here. I'm not through with you yet.

Shrek: Well, I'm through with you!

Donkey starts following Shrek.

Donkey: Uh-uh! You know, with you it's always " me, me, me!" Well, guess what! Now it's my turn! So you just shut up and pay attention!

Just as Shrek nears the door to his house, Donkey jumps in front of him. Shrek walks in another direction.

Donkey: You are mean to me and Mery! You insult me and you don't appreciate anything that I or Mery do! You're always pushing us around or pushing us away.

Shrek: Oh, yeah? Well, if I treated you so bad, how come you came back?

Donkey: Because that's what friends do! They forgive each other!

Shrek: Oh, yeah. You're right, Donkey. I forgive you...for stabbing me in the back!

Shrek enters the outhouse and slams the door behind him.

Donkey: Uhhhh! You're so wrapped up in layers, onion boy, you're afraid of your own feelings.

Shrek: Go away!

Donkey: See! There you are, doing it again just like you did with Fiona. And all she ever do was like you, maybe even love you.

Shrek: Love me? She said I was ugly! A hideous creature! I heard the three of you talking.

Donkey: She wasn't talkin' about you. She was talkin' about...uh... somebody else.

After a brief silence, Shrek comes out of the outhouse.

Shrek: She wasn't talking about me? Well then who was she talking about?

Donkey turned his back to Shrek.

Donkey: Uh-uh, no way. I ain't saying anything. You don't wanna listen to me. Right? Right?

Shrek: Donkey!

Donkey: No!

Shrek: Okay, look. I'm sorry, all right?

Donkey turns his head back to raise his eyebrow, and then looks away again.

Shrek: ( sighs ) I'm sorry. I guess I am just a big, stupid... ugly ogre. Can you forgive me?

Donkey: Hey, that's what friends are for, right?

Shrek: Right. Friends?

Donkey: Friends.

Shrek and Donkey shake on it.

Shrek: So, um, what did Fiona say about me?

Donkey: What are you asking me for? Why don't you just go ask her?

Shrek: The wedding! We'll never make it in time!

Donkey: ( laughs ) Never fear, for where there's a will, there's a way and I have a way.

Donkey whistles loudly, and Shrek looks up to see Dragon flying overhead.

Shrek: Donkey?!

Donkey: I guess it's just my animal magnetism.

Shrek: Wait, Where's Mery?

Mery-Berry then pops up from on top of Dragon's head with a smile.

Mery-Berry: Hi, Uncle Shrek! Hi, Uncle Donkey! Are we and Auntie Draggie going to crash a wedding now?

Shrek: ( laughs ) Aw, come here, you.

Shrek scratched Donkey on the head.

Donkey: All right, all right. Don't get all slobbery. No one likes a kiss ass. All right, hop on and hold on tight. I haven't had a chance to install seatbelts yet.

Mery-Berry: ( happily: ) Seatbelts are for cowards!

Shrek climbs up the chain still slung around Dragon's neck. Dragon lifts Donkey up with her hand. They take off, soaring through the clouds and to Duloc. Mery-Berry was on Dragon's head with a smile and was standing as they were flying with her paws in the air.

Donkey: Mery! Paws down! A tiny thing like you might get blown away by the wind!

Mery-Berry: Woo-hoo! I'm the first cat to fly!
