Mery-Berry woke up from the curtain she hid behind, to see the queen looking down at her with concern.

Lilian: Have you been here the whole night?

Mery-Berry: I didn't want to see Uncle Shrek and the king fighting anymore...

Lilian: Aw, you poor thing... Don't worry, the boys aren't fighting right now. How about you come help me with the preparations for the ball, so we can get to know each other better.

Mery-Berry smiled at Lilian before she stood up. Lilian then held Mery-Berry's paw as they started walking to the castle's exit.

( Meanwhile with Donkey and Shrek, in a forest )

Shrek and Donkey are walking through a thick Forest. Far Far Palace is far off over the hills behind them.

Shrek: Face it, Donkey! We're lost.

Donkey: We can't be lost! We followed the king's instructions exactly. What did he say? " Head to the darkest part of the woods... "

Shrek: Aye.

Donkey: " Past the sinister trees with those scary looking branches. "

Shrek: Check.

Donkey runs over to a bush in the shape of a busty figure.

Donkey: Yeah, and there's the bush shaped like Shirley Bassey! Good thing Mery's not here, I don't know if I could explain to her who Shirley Bassey is.

Shrek: We passed that bush three times already!

Donkey: Hey, you were the one who said you didn't want to stop and get directions.

Shrek: Oh, great. My one chance to fix things up with Fiona's dad, and I end up lost in the woods with you!

Donkey: Alright you don't have to get huffy  with me. I'm only trying to help.

Shrek: I know! I know. ( sighs ) I'm sorry, all right?

Donkey: Hey, don't worry about it.

Shrek: I just really need to make things work with this guy.

Donkey: Yeah, sure. Now let's go bond with Daddy.

Someone is looking at Shrek and Donkey from up in a tree. They are making purring sounds.

Shrek: Well, well, well, Donkey. I know it was kind of a tender moment back there, but the purring?

Donkey: Man, what are you talking about? I ain't purring.

Shrek: Oh, sure. What's next? A hug?

Donkey: Hey, Shrek. Donkeys don't purr. What do you think I am, some kind of a...

A figure jumps down onto the path in front of Shrek and Donkey. It is an orange cat that looked a lot like Mery-Berry but with green eyes, wearing a hat, cape, boots, and brandishing a fencing sword.

Puss: Ha-ha! Fear me, if you dare! ( Hisses )

Shrek: Hey look! A little cat, who looks a lot like...-

Donkey: Look out, Shrek! He got a piece!

Shrek: It's a cat, Donkey, not Mery-Berry. Come here, little kitty, kitty. Come on, little kitty.

Puss takes off his cape, boots, and hat, and puts his sword in the ground. And I think we all know what happens next...

( A/n: I don't own the vid. Hehehe, I'm sorry, but there's no possible way for me to type this scene down without dying of laughter. )

Puss leaps back over them, cartwheeling in the air, lands back in his boots and picks up his hat and sword.

Puss: Now, ye ogre, pray for mercy from... Puss in Boots!

Puss cuts the letter P in a tree.

Donkey: You're right, Shrek, he's not Mery, she's a lot nicer.

Shrek: ( furious: ) Ohh, I'll kill that cat!

Puss: Ha-ha-ha!

Puss starts coughing and then heaving onto the floor. Shrek and Donkey stand confused until Puss finally spits out a hairball.

Puss: ( chuckles ) Hairball.

Donkey: Oh! That is nasty!

Shrek picks Puss up by the back of the neck.

Shrek: What should we do with him?

Donkey: I say we take that sword and neuter him right here. Give him the Bob Barker treatment!

Puss: Oh, no! Por favor! Please! I implore you! It was nothing personal, Señor! I was doing it only for my family. My mother, she is sick. And my father lives off the garbage! The king offered me much in gold and I have a litter of brothers-

Shrek covers Puss's mouth with his finger.

Shrek: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! Fiona's father paid you to do this?

Puss: The rich king? Sí.

Shrek drops Puss to the ground and he screeches.

Shrek: Well, so much for Dad's royal blessing.

Donkey: Oh come on, Shrek, don't feel bad. Almost everyone that meets you wants to kill you.

Shrek sits down on a nearby rock, and looked down at his reflection in the river.

Shrek: Gee, thanks. ( Sighs ) Maybe Fiona would've been better off if I were some sort of Prince Charming. At least if I were, I wouldn't have scared Mery...

Puss: Si, that's what the King said. ( Gets a dirty look from Donkey ) Oh, uh...sorry. I thought that question was directed at me.

Donkey: Shrek, Fiona knows you'd do anything for her. And Mery-Berry knows you would do the same for her too.

Shrek: Well, it's not like I wouldn't change if I could. I just... I just wish I could make them happy. ( Gets an idea ) Hold the phone...

Shrek pulls out the business card he took from Fairy Godmother.

Shrek: ( reads it out loud: ) " Happiness " " A tear drop away. " ( To Donkey: ) Donkey! Think of the saddest thing that's ever happened to you.

Donkey: Aw, man, where do I begin? Well first there was the time that old farmer tried to sell me for some magic beans. I ain't never got over that. Then this fool went off and had a party and he have the guest trying to pin the tail on me. Then they got all drunk and start beating me with a stick going, " Piñata! Piñata! " What is a piñata, anyway?!

Shrek: No, Donkey! I need you to cry!

Donkey: Yeah, well don't go projecting on me! I know you're feeling bad, but you gotta let your own-

Puss forcefully steps on Donkey's hoof. Donkey screams in pain.

Donkey: ( tearing up ) You little, hairy, litter-licking sack of...

Donkey sheds a tear, and Shrek lets it fall onto the card. A bubble is conjured, and Fairy Godmother appears in it.

Fairy Godmother: What? Is it on? Is it on? ( Clears throat ) This is Fairy Godmother. I'm either away from my desk or with a client. But if you come by the office, we'll be glad to make you a personal appointment. Have a happy ever after.

The bubble burst into sparkling dust.

Donkey: Oh...

Shrek: Are you up for a little quest, Donkey?

Donkey: That's more like it! Shrek and Donkey, on another whirlwind adventure, though it may be a little little strange without Mery.

Shrek and Donkey start walking off.

Puss: Stop, orge! I have misjudged you.

Shrek: Join the club. We've got jackets.

Puss: On my honor, I am obliged to accompany you until I have saved your life as you have spared me mine.

Donkey: I'm sorry, the position of annoying or butt-kicking talking animal has already been taken. Let's go, Shrek! ( See that Shrek was walking to Puss ) Shrek?

Shrek looks down at Puss, who gives him a cute, helpless look. Shrek smiles.

Donkey: Shrek!

Shrek: Aw, come on, Donkey. Look at him...in his wee little boots. You know, how many cats can wear boots? Honestly. Aw, let's keep him.

Donkey: Say what?! We already have a kitten!

Puss purrs and Shrek marvels at his cuteness.

Donkey: Ahh!

Shrek scoops Puss up into his arms and begins walking with Donkey.

Shrek: Aw, listen. He's purring!

Donkey: Oh, so now it's cute!

Shrek: Aw, come on, Donkey. Lighten up.

Donkey: Lighten up? Oh, I should lighten up?! Look who's telling who to lighten up! For that, you're going to be the one explaining to Mery-Berry why he's here!

Puss: Who is this " Mery-Berry ", you both speak of?

Shrek: She's a little kitten, who we both adopted as our niece.

Donkey: She's a little orange tabby like you, but she's a lot less annoying and has the cutest blue eyes you ever seen, she wears cute little booties on her feet and a periwinkle blue collar with a heart shaped name tag.

Puss: Wait, heart shaped name tag? Does it happen to say " Princess " on it, does it?

Donkey: Yeah, it does.

Shrek: How did you know that?

Puss: ( is in shock ) Santa Maria...

( Meanwhile with Mery-Berry )

Mery-Berry was in the courtyard with Lilian and Harold, looking at different samples of carpet. Harold looks distracted.

Lilian: They're both festive, aren't they? ( To Mery-Berry and Harold: ) What do you think?

Mery-Berry: I like both of them, they're very pretty.

Harold: Um.. yes, yes. Fine. Fine.

Lilian scoffs at Harold and sends the servants away, while Mery-Berry tilts her head in confusion at him.

Lilian: ( to Harold: ) Try to at least pretend you're interested in your daughter's wedding ball.

Harold: Honestly, Lilian, I don't think it matters. How do we know there will even be a ball?

Mery-Berry turns and sees that Fiona was walking towards them.

Fiona: Mom! Dad! Mery!

Mery-Berry: ( cutely waves at Fiona ) Hi, Auntie Fiona!

Lilian: Oh, hello, dear.

Mery-Berry saw the king walk off to another person before Fiona reaches them.

Fiona: Mom, Mery, have you seen Shrek?

Mery-Berry: ( shakes her head " no " ) I haven't seen Uncle Donkey either.

Lilian: I haven't. You should ask your father. Be sure and use small words, dear. He's a little slow this morning.

Fiona then goes to talk to Harold. Mery-Berry looks up at Lilian with a cute smile.

Mery-Berry: Maybe he's tired?

Lilian: Maybe, dear.

Mery-Berry: Um, Miss Lilian.

Lilian: Just call me " Lilian ", dear.

Mery-Berry: ( happily: ) Okay, Lilian... Do you know where I can send this? ( pulls out her letter to her father and shows it to Lilian ) It's for my Daddy, so he could come to my birthday, it's a week away and I really want to send it to him so he won't be late, so I can finally meet him!

Lilian: You haven't met your father before?

Mery-Berry: ( happily: ) No, my Mama said that he was a coward and didn't deserve to be anywhere near us, but I really want to see him on my birthday.

Lilian looked at Mery-Berry with saddened eyes after what Mery-Berry told her, before she gave her a kind smile.

Lilian: I think I do, dear...

Mery-Berry smiled brightly with a hopeful smile as she hugged her letter out of joy, before she continued following Lilian.

( With Shrek, Donkey, and Puss, in the forest )

Shrek: ( to Puss, in shock: ) You're Mery's Father?

Donkey: And I can't believe you did that to her mother! Oh, I have very strong words for you, mister.

Puss: I know, I made a stupid mistake leaving her mother like that, but... How could I face mi hija and tell her why I left?

Shrek: By telling her the truth, trust me, Mery is more understanding than you think.
