Aarav's POV

I had been in the police station working on the pending cases. It had been many nights that I hadn't returned home. I had always tried to kept myself busy to stay away from memories of my ex-wife. Shinde enters and places the papers in front of me "Sir need your signature in this"

I picked it up and began to read the report. Shinde said "Sir you have not been home for long time, please rest for a while" 

A painful smile appears on his face "for whom should I go home? who is there to wait for me? tonight we have to solve this case so get me the details" I signed the report and handed over the report to him.

Shinde glanced at me for a minute, I raised my eyebrow he shook his head negatively and left the chamber. 

 "I will be back in an hour if there is anything just ring me" I informed. 

Shinde nodded,  I picked up my phone and left the police station. I sat inside his jeep and headed of towards the street. I played the radio and a song played. It was one of our favorite song from college days. Things remind me for her and I can't move on because I loved her truly selflessly. 

Within 20 minutes I reached the residence building. I parked my jeep and watchman saluted me. I took the stairs to the fourth  floor and reaches the main door of the apartment. I placed my finger on the doorbell but stopped thinking I might find her who had broken me. I turned and at the same moment the door opened.

"Aarav!" the feminine mature voice I heard.

I turned back and bend down touching her feet to take the blessings. She placed her hand on my head "may God give all your lost happiness"

I stood up and smiled a bit at her. She stepped aside and insists me to walk inside. I got in and she closed the door from behind. 

I saw Karan stepping out of the bedroom and a smile appeared on his face. He came closer to me and hugged tightly "Aarav.. it's good to see you after months! how you have been my son?"

Since the day I had meet them, they had been parent figure to me. I didn't ever feel that I am orphan. "Happy Marriage Anniversary Papa.." I wished him. 

He parted the hug and placed his hand on top of mine "Thank you! come have a sit" 

I settled down on the couch along with him. Nandini brought the snacks and feeds it to me. I was kind of surprised the Manvi didn't came to her parents for celebrations. I gave them a questionable look. 

"It's good she didn't came.. I would have never welcomed her in my house" her mother said with anger.

"She is your daughter, you shouldn't just disown her" I said

Karan glanced at him "You are saying that! You know what she had done to you..." he said with disgrace. 

I smiled lightly "What if I had done the same thing? you would have said I am a man so mistakes happen.. right?" 

"Aarav it's a sin! and if you were at her place we would have disown you too! now don't spoil the day.. let's have dinner I can see from your face you haven't eating anything from past two days" Nandini said scolding me for being careless. I received a phone call and attended it. 

"sorry mumma papa I have to go.. I will come later" I said 

Karan insists me to have dinner first. I couldn't deny him anymore and eat along. I greeted them and left the house. It was really surprising for me that she wasn't present at her parents house. 

I headed back to police station and continued working on the case files. I received a call from private number but before I could pick it, it got disconnected in just few seconds. This had happened three times in past one week. 

The phone ranged again, I picked up the call and heard the familiar voice "ASP Aarav Malhotra how you have been?"

I was trying to recognize the person, and my assumptions came true when he said "I snatched the precious thing from you"

I wasn't in mood to entertain him so ended the call and switched off my phone. All the while, he was the one disturbing me. What the hell does he want from me now? He just wants to sprinkle salt on my wounds. 

Shinde entered the chamber and handed me some details "Sir! we have a lead.." 

I glanced at him and looked at the papers. I carefully examined them "that's great so let's go and catch that bastard" he said in determined tone to catch the culprit. 

"oh no you are not going anywhere" the voice interrupted from behind Shinde. He stepped a side and Alisha had been standing there. 

"Alisha what are you doing here?" I asked

She crossed her arms and gave me a look "just look at yourself.. it had been nights you have been just working and resting.. I came here to take you home" she declared

I refused "I need catch the culprit" 

"Are you only police office here? no right.. just send juniors and come home with me right now" She grabbed the papers from my hand and gave it to Shinde. She held my wrist and began to pull me out of the police station. Everyone was staring at us and that sarcastic smiles made me felt awkward. 

She brought me near to the car and I jerked her hand off "Alisha please! don't do all this..." I said annoyed

She glanced at me feeling hurt with my behavior towards her. I took a deep breath and apologized "I am sorry Alisha but I don't want because of someone raise fingers on our pure friendship.. I am try to heal myself" 

"Aarav as a friend only I am taking care of you! are you still in guilt about that kiss?" she asked

I lowered my gaze and she grabbed my hand tightly "that was a week of the moment for you.. it will not affect our friendship silly" she slapped my head from behind.

"now sit in.. we are going to my house!" she added further understanding me. 

I smiled a bit, I sat inside the car with her and headed off towards her home. I turned my phone on, in case of any emergency from the police station. I checked the call log and there was again 3 miss calls from the private number. 

The phone buzzed again, I answered the call and shouted "stop calling me Sameer! I am not interested in knowing what had happened" 

"Mr. Malhotra just check your email! something interesting for you is there" he said in a stern voice. 

I checked the email and my eyes became wide after seeing it. I placed back the phone to my ear "you shouldn't have missed the phone calls ASP someone is going to pay for this sin" his voice was wicked. 

I asked Alisha to stop the car to the side. She halts the car and I stepped out. I fumed in anger "Sameer.. are you trying to blackmail me"

"Yes! You have just one hour to find me otherwise.." he laughed and ends the call. 

"hello! hello.." I yelled but it was too late. 

Alisha stepped out of the car and glanced at me. "What happened Aarav? Why are you so tensed?" she questioned. 

"I need to go back to police station" I replied. 

"but why?" she asked with curiosity. 

I remained silent as I myself was in complete shock. I really hope he was just making fool out of me and not serious about this. "will tell you later" I said. I stopped the taxi and headed back to the police station. 

I received his call again, I yelled "Sameer you are not serious about it right?" 

"of course I am!" he replied.

"Don't forget I am a police officer" I warned him as blackmailing me will cost him. 

"That's why it is more fun! a police officer will be now dancing on tip of my fingers.. you have just 45 minutes.. clock is clicking Aarav" he reminded and ends the call. 

I just couldn't believe what I heard. I need to dig more information on it before I taking any further action.
