Twenty-Three

・a few months later・

"Elle? Elle wake up," a voice says, waking me up from a much-needed nap.

"Huh?" I yawn and rub my eyes, turning upwards to see who's interrupting. I open my eyes slowly and see Anthony hovering above me, a smile on his face. "Oh my god, Andy," I almost scream in fear, my face turning a light crimson from the proximity, "Why're you on top of me."

"Well it's almost your last day of break before you have to go back to college so I figured we should hang out," he says, remaining in the same position. I let out a sigh before turning back onto my side, closing my eyes.

"What time is it?"

"Around 6, why?"

"Can I have until 7?" I ask and he lets out a sigh, using one of his arms to turn me back towards him.

"No, this is a very time-sensitive hangout," he says and I open my eyes again, looking at him one more time before closing my eyes again.

"Is Jullian going to?"

"No, stop asking questions before I fall on you to wake you up," he says and I open my eyes to glare at him, getting a smile in return. I let out a groan and begin sitting up, accidentally headbutting him in the process. Due to our heads hitting each other he reaches up to touch his head and falls on top of me, almost headbutting me again.

"Owie," I whine, too lazy to move from him being on top of me. I hear Andy mumble something but I'm unable to decipher exactly what his words are and I close my eyes again, drifting off to sleep again.

Before I can fully fall asleep Andy makes his way off the bed, the weight lifted allowing for me to sleep normally again. "Up we go," he mumbles, catching my attention before I'm hoisted up into the air and slung onto his shoulder without hesitation.

"Woah Woah Woah," I say, tapping his shoulder from my position, "what's happening?"

"I told you, we're having a time-sensitive hangout," he says, leaving immediately through the door. "Are you awake now?" He asks, placing me in the passenger seat and getting into the driver's seat of his car.

"Well now I'm hungry," I say, patting my growling stomach, "where are we going?"

"Don't worry about it, put this on," he says with a smile, handing me a blindfold, "it's important for the hangout."

"Are you about to murder me?" I ask and he chuckles, shaking his head.

"Definitely not, but it is important for the hang out to be even more special," he says and I nod, putting it on.

"Do I get a hint?" I ask and he chuckles again, turning on the car.

"Of course not."

・・・

"We have arrived," Andy says and puts his car in park. I wait quietly as he begins to shuffle around, exiting the car. A few seconds later the passenger door opens and makes me jump slightly. "Sorry about that," he chuckles, helping me out onto the ground. "I'm gonna need you to go back over my shoulder," he says and I laugh, putting my arms out.

"Alright then, less work for me," I smile and he lets out a chuckle, picking me up afterward. He closes the passenger door then walks away, shuffling around more before closing the trunk to his car. "Are you sure you aren't murdering me?" I ask and he laughs, letting out a sigh.

"Yes, Elle, I'm sure I'm not murdering you," he says as he continues walking, eventually coming to a stop after a few minutes. "Okay," he says, setting me down, "you can take off your blindfold," he says and I nod my head, pulling it off of my eyes.

In front of me was a small picnic for two at our spot, the sun beginning to set behind us. "Andy," I smile, placing my hands on my reddening cheeks, "this is so adorable," I say as my heartbeat races. "You did this?"

"Sure did," he smiles, watching me closely, "do you like it?"

"Are you crazy? This is amazing," I say in awe, sitting on the blanket, "this could be one of the cutest things ever," I say and he joins me on the blanket, looking towards the sunset.

"I'm really glad you like it, I was scared you wouldn't," he chuckles and I look and him in disbelief.

"How could I not like this? I'm practically in love," I say looking around, "we've never been here for a sunset have we?" I ask and he shakes his head.

"No, that's why I wanted to take you."

"And this is because I'm leaving soon?" I ask, looking over to him as his face changes slightly.

"Well," he says, making my heart race more than before. "Not really," he mutters, running a hand through his hair.

"What? What else is there?" I ask and he lets out a small chuckle, quieting down. Feeling worried, I scoot myself closer to him, looking him in the eyes. "Andy?"

"I love you, Elle," he says with a straight face and I smile, nodding my head.

"I know Andy, I love you t-"

"No, Elle, like I love you love you... romantically," he says and I furrow my eyebrows, confused.

"What do you mean-"

"I want to be with you. I want to hold your hand and kiss you and- Elle I want us to be together," he explains and I slightly widen my eyes, my face reddening, and my heartbeat quickening once again.

"Are you asking me out?" I ask and he shifts his weight, running another hand through his hair.

"If you don't want to, that's fine, I'll just act like I didn't-"

"Are you asking me out?" I repeat and he goes quiet, looking down.

"Yes," he responds, slowly looking up to me again.

"Well, are you going to stop beating around the bush and ask? Or am I going to have to wait again," I smile, catching him off guard. He takes a quick intake of breath and lets it out slowly, sitting up straight and making eye contact with me.

"Elle," he says, grabbing a hold of my hands and smiling, "Eleanor Maxwell, would you like to be my, Anthony Myers's, girlfriend?" he asks, "no drama, no disappearing, none of that," he continues and I let out a giggle, nodding my head.

"Yes, I'd like that very much."

・author's note・

and there's the re-written ending!

Originally it was a flash-forward to an accident that'd be explained in a different book (hence the comments) but I changed it so it doesn't leave the readers confused.

I hope those who're new or old readers have enjoyed this book, and that you continue to read my words now and in the future.

Thank you all so much for reading my books, and getting this book to 200K reads with so many amazing rankings. I love you all lots xx

If you're interested.. I now have a continuation of this book but from a different, unintroduced character's perspective...

'Just By Mistake'

With Rebecca's high school days over, all she can hope for is a fun, care-free college life with a major she's been going after for years. Despite her desires, the journey starts out rough, only seeming to get worse when she accidentally spills her coffee on a complete stranger on her final days of moving in. Little does Rebecca know, this boy might be the one to make it all seem alright, and she might be doing the same for him.

Wanna take a lucky guess who the boy is?

And if you want to know, but don't remember this book? That's alright too, 'Just By Mistake' is also standalone, and I'm sure once a reference is brought up in there, you'll remember what I'm talking about.

Well, I guess I'll see you there.

p.s : thank you so much for all these amazing rankings such as #1 in Friends, #2 in Realistic Fiction, #28 in Chicklit, I could go on.

p.p.s: i love you (and i'm not typing this by accident)

with tons and tons of love,

- kris
