Chapter 13

Megara's POV

Time Skip... Two Months Later...

   Since I'm a goddess now, pregnancies for the immortal don't last as long as they do for mortals. The duration of a pregnancy for one such as myself is cut in half so instead of nine months, it's only four and a half months. I'm already halfway into my pregnancy. The time is just flying by. I've been getting weekly check ups to insure that both the baby and myself are okay. I'm actually heading to my next appointment now. Hades is transporting us via boat to the medical professional. He doesn't want me walking too much, he's worried I'll put too much strain on the baby and I. Bless his heart, he's been so gentle with me. He's also been very patient, putting up with my intense cravings and VERY intense mood swings. 

        Hades wraps his arms around me and holds me in a loving embrace, making my heart thump in my chest as it often does when in his presence. I look up at him and smile softly, so grateful not only to have him as my love but also for the child that we're going to be bringing into this world, the child that we're about to find out the gender of. It's such an exciting time for us! When we get to the examiner, we patiently wait for her to be ready to see me. When she is, she asks me a few questions and I answer them honestly. She then begins conducting a routine ultrasound on me. The gel feels cool on my stomach as usual but yet it feels good. Hades gasps several times, seeing the baby makes him speechless. 

         The examiner grins at us. "Would you two like to know the sex of the baby? I know what it is but I don't want to spoil the surprise unless you both give me consent to do so." Hades and I share a look, both nodding in agreement that we want to know the gender of our baby. I smile at her. "Please tell us what we're having." She grins at us. "Well congratulations Hades and Megara, you both are having a baby girl." I was lowkey and highkey hoping we would have a girl but I would have been satisfied either way. Now though, I'm extremely delighted. Hades immediately tears up and wraps an arm around me. "Did you hear that baby? We're having a daughter. I'm so happy." He gives the examiner a kind smile. "Thank you for giving us this wonderful news." She smiles back at him. "Of course. Your baby girl is in good health, fingers crossed that there isn't any issues for the remainder of the pregnancy. I'll give you two some privacy for a few minutes. Take your time in leaving, there's no rush whatsoever."

         When she leaves the room, I kiss Hades in delight. "Hades, I would have been happy either way but I'm so happy we're having a girl. I can't wait to spoil our princess." He chuckles. "The feeling is mutual darling. You're going to be an amazing mother. I just hope I'll be a halfway decent father." My giddiness shifts to seriousness for a moment. I cup his face gently and get him to look me right in the eyes. "Babe, neither one of us is perfect. We both have a reputation for being villains as we rule the Underworld but despite our titles, we're not entirely awful. We both have genuine love for one another and we will pass that love onto our daughter as well. You're going to spoil her just as much as I will, I just know it." He chuckles. "You're not wrong about that. Thank you my Meglet, I needed to hear that. I love you." I gently peck him on the lips. "I love you too. Let's go home and rest." 

          Hades scoops me up into his arms bridal style and carries me all the way back home. He opted to transport us via cloud rather than by boat this time around. We're both asleep within minutes of collapsing into bed. Boy, what an eventful day it has been for us.
