CHAPTER 14 - Trust Me

"There are titans outside the wall!" The garrison on Wall Maria suddenly shouted to his fellowmen.

"Tell this immediately to the Scouting Legion!" Another member of the garrison said, as another one grew his eyes big as he recalled the image of the first titan that he saw way back when he was still young inside the walls of Wall Sina.

"Sir! I believe that the titan is Annie Leonhardt!" He told the other members before the head told the others what to do.

"Tell Commander Erwin about the news. And tell them that the titan seemed to be Annie Leonhardt." He said, before he looked down at the female titan and observed her as his eyes grew big when he saw someone on her shoulers.

"Tell them she's carrying Eren Jaeger!" He shouted at the person beside him before the soldier used his 3D maneuver gear to follow the first soldier who was ordered to send the message.

Annie stopped running before Eren suddenly bit his finger again. He was so desperate to become a titan and he kept on wondering on why could not he change into one again.

Throughout the journey, Annie kept on telling him that maybe his body idled for almost 2 years that made his body did not react to the wound. But Eren did not listened. He kept on trying and trying, biting and biting his hand all over again even though nothing happened.

"Ugh. Why?!" Eren screamed before he felt the temperature of his body changed, and that time he succeeded.

"Sir! We are sorry to interrupt your meeting sir. But there is a titan in front of the gates of Shiganshina. It was believed to be Annie Leonhardt sir." The soldier of the garrison said that made the soldiers inside the conference room's eyes grew big.

Another soldier slammed the door of the room, getting the attention of all the people inside. He was panting and was trying his hardest to compose himself.

The soldoer stood up and saluted at everyone before he spoke. "The titan is said to be carrying Eren Jaeger on her shoulders sir!"

Mikasa and Armin stood up with their wide eyes, as Levi looked at her with his worried eyes covered up with the plain ones.

"Are you sure about this?" Mikasa and Armin absentmindedly said in unison that made the others look at them.

The two soldiers nodded as their answer. Mikasa started to run towards the door when she suddenly felt a hand gripped her wrist, making her stop from her movements and look back at the person who stopped her.

"Levi..." She uttered.

"Don't move on your own. We don't know what they are up to." He plainly said, that made Mikasa's brows furrow with a little bit of anger.

"What are you talking about? She's carrying Eren! They might have escaped from where Eren was probably locked up for two years!" Mikasa said, raising her voice.

Levi's brows furrowed as well before he stood up and faced Mikasa.

"You don't know wat they are up to! What if it's a trap?! What if they would be just luring us or what if they would be pretending to be one of us again and be a spy inside?!" He said, raising his voice as well that made the others surprised. It was new for them to see the two coverse with their voices that high, again.

"It's Eren we are talking about here! Eren will not betray us!" Mikasa defended that made Levi more irritated.

"I told you to always hold back your emotions first right?! Why don't you think first before you act? You always loose yourself when it comes to that guy! What if he's brainwashed by the titans already?! He is not like us Mikasa!" Levi said, making the others' eyes grew big with his last line.

Mikasa calmed down and thought of Levi's words. He was right. She was loosing herself once more. It would always happen when it comes to Eren. She was about to say her sorry to Eren when someone suddenly spoke that caught the attention of Levi and hers.

"What do you mean that he is not like the two of you?" Erwin asked as he was facing Levi.

Levi sighed before he looked down to his feet. Placing both of his hands on both of the sides of his waist as he closed his eyes.

"Levi. What do you mean by that?" Erwin said with a serious tone that made all them quiet.

"I... I'm an Ackerman." He said. "Just like Mikasa I can't be affected by the brainwashing of the titans or whatsoever."

"How?" Hanji asked. "You never knew my parents. More or less, you never knew your father."

Levi looked at Hanji before he answered her question. "Back then, five years ago when I fought with Kenny Ackerman, I asked him how he was related to my mother. He told me he was my mother's older brother. Making me abnormal just like him. Does that answers your question?"

"So, you and Mikasa are related?" Jean asked as his eyes looked somewhat hopeful with the upcoming answer to his question, but Levi furrowed his brows as he looked at him.

Mikasa's eyes grew big when she heard the question. Being related with Levi never crossed her mind even though she knew that he had the blood of an Ackerman.

She suddenly got worried, and she was trying her best to hide her pained expression that she was about to give off from her face. She did not want to be related with him in that way. She knew to herself that she was looking for an Ackerman, but she did not want it to be him with a blood relation with her that close.

She knew to herself what she wanted. She knew that she would not be able to accept it if the answer was yes. She knew to herself that her feelings towards her Captain got overboard from what it should have been.

Mikasa gripped her pants, as she was waiting for Levi's answer. She did not know anything. She did not know the answer. She did not know if they were related or not. Never did she ask about it to Levi, and never did she think about it as well.

There, she was anxiously waiting for Levi's answer to Jean's question. Hoping that things would turn out the way she wanted to be.

"What's with that question? It doesn't concern the matter right now, but no. We are not related." Levi said as he looked away from Jean before he faced Erwin.

Mikasa wanted to release a deep sigh, but she was too cautious of her surroundings. She felt relieved with Levi's answer, but still... she still wanted to talk to him in private about it.

She wanted to know... everything.

"Erwin. What's the plan now?" Levi suddenly asked that made the soldiers inside thought of the current situation.

Erwin was about to speak when another soldier from the garrison suddenly walked in again that interrupted Erwin's words.

"Sir! The two titans crashed gate of the Shiganshina district! And Eren Jaeger's titan form was seen to be attacking the people!" The soldier said that made the remaining people who were sitting stood up with their shocked faces.

"What about Annie Leonhardt?" Erwin asked before the soldier who just came in answered.

"She was seen to be stopping Eren Jaeger from what he was doing sir. But she soon passed out and returned to her human form unconsciously. The scouting legion inside Shiganshina district is taking care of her, as the other Asians are fighting with the titan." The soldier said that made Mikasa more worried.

The Asian race became important to her, she did not want any harm to come near them. But she did not expect that Eren would be the one that she did not want to go near to them.

"Sir! We need to move now!" Mikasa said with panic written on her face.

Erwin faced Levi before he spoke. "Levi, lead everyone along with Armin and Hanji." He said before Levi nodded and started to ran towards the door.

He immediately took a horse that was on the stables as the others followed him.

It was not the time for them to think on what the two titan shifter's intentions were. What they needed to do was to help the Asians to not be devoured by Eren.

When they reached the closed gates of Wall Maria, Levi immediately used his 3D Maneuver Gears to reach the top of the walls as the others followed him.

All of them saw and was shocked on how Eren's titan for was outraging on the district. Even Mikasa was unable to make herself believe that it was Eren who was there.

"Hanji! Armin! Come with me! Jean and your squad, attack from the opposite side on where the three of us would attack Eren. Avoid his nape!" Levi said before tried to run when Hanji suddenly spoke.

"What about Mikasa?! You work the best when you're paired up with her!" Hanji said that made Levi stop and closed his eyes.

Mikasa looked at him, waiting for his command. Waiting for him to face her and to tell her what to do... but he did not. Instead, he closed his eyes before he answered Hanji's question.

"She will only be a hindrance to this mission. Don't let her get near to Eren." Levi said before he flew of towards where Eren was, as Jean looked at Mikasa's pained expression before he furrowed his brows and looked at his Captain with anger.

Armin looked at her as well, before he followed everyone who was with Levi.

Mikasa furrowed her brows as she looked at her squadmates flying off to the raging titan. She was specifically looking at Levi as he commanded his squad on what to do, but then, Mikasa was known as a hardheaded person when it comes to Eren.

She grabbed her blades and started to pull the trigger of her Maneuver Gear. She followed them, disobeying his orders.

Levi looked back before his eyes grew big when he saw who was behind.

"Oi! Mikasa!" He called, Jean looked surprised when he turned his face at his back to see her, before he looked back at his front with a smirk. He knew Mikasa would not obey their captain's orders.

"I don't care if you allow me or not, I'll fight when I want to." She said without looking at him as she passed beside him, overtaking.

Levi's brows furrowed even more before he started to follow Mikasa and started to attack Eren with their usual routine.

Hanji, Armin, Sasha, Connie along with Jean and his squad was shocked when they saw how the uncontrolled Eren hit the two in one go. Making Levi and Mikasa fall onto the grounds.

Blood was flowing down to their faces, as they feel a little bit of pain on their bodies, especially on their head. The both of them tried to get up, as the others tried to attack Eren with what they have got.

Mikasa tried to use her 3D maneuver gear once more, before Levi's brows met again. He shook his head as he decided to follow her even though he felt pain all throughout his body.

He was thinking of something that could have happened to Eren. He had gotten too strong in the passed two years.

When Levi got to where Eren was, he was shocked to see how strong he hit Mikasa once again, as he watched Mikasa flew to the ground and with a lucky coincidence, it was where Annie was being taken care off.

Levi immediately went there as he went to see Mikasa who was trying to clean herself up once more. Blood was streaming down to her face as she felt a little headache.

Levi stared at her, when he noticed that little by little, Mikasa was closing her eyes as she slowly falls onto the ground. He quickly reacted that he ran towards her and catch her before she even touch the ground.

"Oi! Mikasa! Get a hold of yourself!" He said before he felt Mikasa moving her hands.

The other soldiers that were taking care of Annie suddenly spoke to Levi.

"Sir, Annie Leonhardt wanted to say something." The soldier said, before Levi turned his face to where Annie was.

Annie was lying on the ground on a white cloth being surrounded by the scouting legion. She had told them before that she needed rest and she did not need to be brought to the hospital.

"What is it, Leonhardt?" Levi said with his usual blank face on.

Annie looked at him before she signalled him to come closer while she was pointing at Mikasa.

"What do you want from her?" He asked as Mikasa started to open her eyes and move once more.

Mikasa was surprised to see herself on her Captain's arms again. She slowly got up as Levi started to look at her with his worried eyes.

"Mikasa, you should rest first." Levi said. "You have a wound on your head."

"So as you Captain." She said before she stood up and slowly started to walk towards where Eren and the others were.

They were confused on why the Titan Eren was not eating the people at all. Instead, he was just squashing or twisting them to death. Making them think that it was a set up and Eren was actually making a fuss for real.

"Mikasa." She called. Mikasa stopped from walking as her eyes widened when she recognized to whom that voice belongs to.

She looked at her left and saw Annie lying on the ground. Even though her head still hurt, she walked towards Annie before uttering some words.

"So you really have returned." She said.

Annie closed her eyes and sighed weakly. "Mikasa, it's not time for that." She said.

"What do you want then?" Mikasa asked Annie before she felt someone's presence beside her.

"You're the only one who could make Eren calm down now." Annie softly said. Her words making Mikasa's eyes widened a bit more when she heard it.

"What do you mean?" Mikasa asked.

"You're Mikasa, aren't you? The person who can tame that person down." Annie said before looking at the man beside Mikasa. "And of course, Captain Levi."

The two got confused with Annie's words as they look at her while Annie was grabbing something from her pocket.

"Inject this to Eren. He will calm down if you do." Annie suddenly said as she raised her hand, handing Mikasa the injection.

"What's that?" Levi asked with his plain face.

"I'll answer your questions after the things here are settled already. You need to do it quickly before he kills all of us." She said before Mikasa grabbed the injections from her hands. She started to walk towards the open space before Annie spoke.

"Be sure to inject it on his nape." She said.

Mikasa did not look back and immedietly grabbed her gears, realizing it was broken she turned her back around and faced a soldier.

"Let me borrow your gears." She said as she looked at him with her cold eyes. The soldier immediately removed his gears when someone suddenly spoke.

"Oi, I won't let you do it. Give me the injection." Levi said, Mikasa did not look at him as she said her words.

"No, I'm doing this alone." She said as she was fixing the gear to herself.

"Mikasa, you're hurt!" Levi defended making Mikasa look at him. "You won't be able to go there properly with your wound!"

"I can do this alone Levi." She said. As she breathed heavily with her own words.

"No Mikasa." He said before he told the other soldier that he would be borrowing his gears as well.

"Give it to me." Levi said but Mikasa turned her back on him and flew off away from him.

Levi's brows met as he immediately put the gears on himself before he immediately followed Mikasa.

"Mikasa!" He called, when he saw Mikasa standing on a roof.

Mikasa looked back at him before she said something.

"Levi..." She called, making Levi stop when her voice sent him an unusual feeling when she said his name. "Please, let me do this."

"No. Mikasa." He said, even though he heard that Mikasa was already pleading him to allow her to do it.

"Please..." She said as she looked at him on his eyes. "I just wanted to do something right even just for once."

"Mikasa, what are you saying?" Levi said as he furrowed his brows in confusion with sincerety on his voice.

"Please, I don't want to be the hindrance that you've seen for the passed years anymore." She said that made Levi grew his eyes big. He never thought that it would be the reason.

"But you're injured. I can't let you." He said. "Prove yourself some other time."

"Trust me, Levi." Mikasa said with her sincere eyes before she turned her back to Levi and started to walk towards where Eren was.

Levi eyes widened as he remembered what happened in the past. He grabbed Mikasa's wrist as he watched her look back at him with his widened eyes. Mikasa looked at him with her meaningful eyes, as Levi returned that look.

"No." He said, as he stared at her onyx eyes.  "I won't let you." He added. Mikasa's eyes softened as she heard those words that escaped through Levi's mouth. Looking at his sad eyes, that was probably thinking that he would lose her.

"Levi..." Mikasa called before she cupped Levi's face with her right hand as she smiled faintly and looked at him with her cast down eyes. "Don't you believe in me?"

"Mikasa... I..." Levi said and looked down to his feet.

"Levi..." Mikasa called.

Levi looked up to her and held her left wrist tighter than before. So tight to the point that she was hurt but, he would never let go of her. "I believe in you. I trust in you. But I can't trust our fate anymore. You could die anytime... I... I don't want to lose you."

Mikasa smiled for what Levi has said. Thinking that finally, she heard his true thoughts.

"Just... Just trust me, okay?" She said as she looked at him, straight to his eyes with her assuring look. The feeling her eyes left on him made him feel like he was on a gamble, and he did not want to risk everything he had, but he needed to, for the sake of everyone.

Levi looked down on his feet and sighed deeply, before he looked back to her to tell her something. "Make sure you'll come back." He said as he let go of her wrist.

Mikasa smiled genuinely with her eyes giving off a soft expression that made Levi want to take back his words.

"I promise." She said and immediately turned her back on Levi when she suddenly felt a hand on her shoulder that pulled her back.

Mikasa was startled. Her eyes grew big as her body was turned by someone. She felt something soft that pressed her lips, as she slowly closed her eyes before Levi pushed her a little.

Mikasa stared at him for a while, before she smiled and turned her back again, after seeing Levi's eyes full of mixed emotions. Mikasa ran away from Levi and jumped towards another roof. Getting closer to the uncontrolled Titan Eren with her 3D Maneuver Gears. Levi on the other hand returned to where the others was and commanded them to help the Asians around the area.

When Levi and the others were busy helping the Asians, Mikasa was busy making the miracle that Levi was expecting for her to do. The others did not know anything on what was Mikasa doing.

The uncontrolled titan Eren was different from before. It was not the same Eren that helped them put the boulder to the hole before. The titan Eren that was there, was a normal titan that did not think.

No one knew on what was happening. On what was the reason for the attack of Eren. On how strange his attacks were.

No one knew, but only Annie did.

Note: So, I read a RivaMika fanfic called The Raven by Darksummoner98. I noticed that we had the same assumption about the titans eating humans, I found that amazing though but I just want to make it clear that I didn't copy that idea from her. :)
