Chapter 9: Smith and...Smith?

The Doctor's POV

"Doctor!" The familiar voice calls from the speaker. "you haven't called in ages! How are you?"

"Well," I take a deep breath, "there's a girl on the TARDIS."

"Oh really? You two should come around for tea." she chuckles.

"It's not like that." I snap. "she's badly hurt and I need a former UNIT doctor to help her."

"Is that The Doctor?" I hear Mickey Smith pipe up from the background. "is he coming round for tea?"

"Ah, Mickey the Idiot! Please tell our lovely friend that she needs to come help me on the TARDIS." I plea.

"If he needs your help, you should go." Mickey says to Martha.

"Oh, alright. the present date is April 13, 2015. it's 2:30 in the afternoon and we're in Cardiff at the moment. we're the third house on the left of Bancroft Avenue. you can't miss it, its TARDIS blue." Martha directs.

"Thanks Martha. We'll see you soon." I hang up and set the time and date, hoping to land at least a minute or so after the call.

Martha's POV

"Weren't you gonna tell him?" Mickey asks me. The TARDIS's engine whooshes from the living room.

"Well yes, but I have a plan to do it over tea. Don't rush me." I grin, smacking his arm lightly. he pecks my cheek before running in the direction of the living room to greet the Doctor.

"MARTHA!" The Doctor yells.

"COMING, DOCTOR!" I yell back, grabbing my old medical bag off the granite countertop and rushing into the TARDIS.

What I see when I enter the medical center completely shocks me.

The doctor is standing above a fourteen year old. She looks beaten, cut, and badly bruised. her brown hair is matted and her white button up is stained with crimson blood.

"Who is she and when did you find her." I demand, pulling her shirt open.

""Fifty first century, storm cage, River Song's sister Kelsey Williams." He spits back. Mickey writes her information on a notepad and I shop him off to look her up on the TARDIS computer.

"She seems to be stabilizing. did you give her a saline pouch?" I ask

"Yes." he replies. he brushes her hair out of her face and a crack of a smile crosses his face. "I don't want her to get hurt."

"Neither do I." I sigh. "she needs blood. A positive. Have you got any?"

"No, but we can get some from the blood banks on Transylvania." his face brightens and he runs off to bring us there.

"Ugh, where am I?" A faint voice says from below me. I pull my stethoscope out of my ears and glance down at Kelsey.

"Hello, Kelsey Williams. My name is Martha Smith, and-"

"Martha, we've..." the doctor interrupts me, then looks at me, shocked. "Martha Smith? What about Martha Jones?"

"Well, Mickey and I..." I blush slightly. "we're married."

"And I didn't get an invitation to your wedding." he said.

"You came. well, not you in this form. you were obsessed with bow ties." I laughed at the memory of the eleventh regeneration of the doctor crashing Mickey and I's wedding reception.

"I look forward to it." he grumbled.

"Hey, hello? Person bleeding to death over here." Kelsey called.

"You're not dying. we just need to get you some A positive blood and you'll be all set." I tell her.

"Are you an interface?" She asks.

I laugh. "no, I'm not an interface. I'm one of the doctor's former companions. Martha Smith."

"Jones." the doctor coughs. I glare at him, then turn back to Kelsey.

"Well where are we?" She asks.

"Transylvania."

"I thought that was a city?"

"No, it's a planet. Transylvania has one of the biggest artificial blood banks in the galaxy." The Doctor walked over to her and gripped her hand. "they'll have the blood you need. right now, just rest. Mickey'll keep an eye on you. Martha, come with me please?"

"Of course, Doctor. I'll be back in a bit to check on you." I stand and leave the room.

"Just like old times, eh?" He asks me, pulling on his long brown coat.

"Yeah. I'm excited to get back to it all." I smile and he pulls open the wooden paneled blue doors.
