Chapter 2: ESCAPE!

Kelsey POV

After finding my sister, getting back home is more important than ever. I make myself a promise that night that I won't let anything stop me from getting home. The night guard walks by, and sees I am not asleep. I take a tranquilizer dart to the leg and fall to the floor with a thunk as the world goes black.

My head aches when I wake up on the cold stone floor of the cell. The clock strikes ten. He'll be there soon.

The two men dressed in black come to take me to Mr. Ellington's office. I go along without resisting. I can't help noticing the look on Melody's face as I walk down the hallway willingly. She glares at the men.

"What will we do today, Kelsey?" Ellington coughs from behind his desk. I sit in the wooden chair and allow the men to tie a rough rope around me. "I feel like a bit of...bloodshed."

"You always feel that way." I spit. He glares at me and I shut up.

"Something I find interesting about you, Kelsey," he says, "you are taken from your home and placed in the future."

"So?"

"You were born in the twentieth century in America. You come here and act as though it were that way your whole life. Why?"

"I'm good at adapting." I shrug.

He pulls a knife from behind his desk. "Where shall we start?" He asks, stepping closer. I don't attempt an escape or move as he traces my lips with the tip of the knifeblade. "You should wear blue more often. It suits you."

"Thank you. I think it looks nice on you too." I reply. He smirks at my remark and moves the blade in a line down my arm. I wince as he traces it along my thigh and down my ankle, eventually dropping it on the carpet. Blood slowly trickles onto the carpet as he lines my other arm and leg with blood as well.

"I'm glad you wore a low back dress tonight." He says A third knife follows the comment as he floods my back with my blood. "It allows me to see where I need to scar you to get the information I need." The silver knife tip is cold and ruthless to my skin as the clock strikes eleven. He leans into my face. The stale smell of blood and oysters bombarded my nose and I sneeze. He smirks.

"Why can't you just tell me who your parents are, or where your from?" He demands, digging the knife into my arm. I wince as he pulls it out.

"Telling you would put everyone I love in danger." I cough, and blood spatters the desk in front of me. I turn my neck best I can to face him. "besides, why do you care?"

He wanders around to the front and calmly but harshly slaps my face. My cheek stings as the clock strikes eleven. I can feel the knife scratch my cheek.

"Don't speak to me that way." he snaps.

A loud shot rings through and Ellington falls suddenly in my arms. Melody stands behind him and blows the gun tip off. She runs over and unites the ropes. I push the old man to the ground and embrace my sister.

"Oh, Melody!" I sob into her jacket.

"Shhhhh little sister. It's okay. He's dead now." She places a hand on my cheek and sighs. "Why did this happen?"

"He wants to find out why I'm here and who my parents are." I whisper.

Melody leads me down a hallway as the clock strikes eleven fifteen. The last thing I see from the office is a strange yellow and orange glow.

"Don't look back." Melody says quietly.

A grinding noise comes from one of the hallways and she turns in that direction. I collapse to the ground, due to the loss of blood over the past weeks. The last thing I see is my sister standing over me and a man coming out of a small blue box...
