A few days passed uneventfully, but when Amy was playing with Rufflefins, Sophie hailed her.

"What's up?"

Sophie wrung her hands. "We found the original Nightfall."

I gasped.

But then I laughed.

"Suuuuure you did."

"But we actually did!" Sophie protested. "Its there! And we're going tonight." There was determination in her voice.

I rolled my eyes.

"The last time that happened it was a fail." I said .

"Yeah, but this is the only other Nightfall. It's gotta be it!"
I couldn't  argue with what she said.

It made sense.

"But are you even gonna make it out alive? And with my parents?" Amy asked.

" Yes. Of course. " Sophie voice was soothing.

But it didn't work.

"You have to promise me that you'll get them out of there." Amy said . I looked as if she wasn't going to let this go.

"I can't promise that. No matter how hard I want to, I can't." Sophie voice broke as a sob broke through .

By this time Amy was crying.

"But you have too! You just have too." Amy broke down crying.

" I know it's tough. And I don't want to not get them back. It's just, everything is so hard and I'm just one little girl trying to change the world. Trying to make a better place to liked in. And I can't do that. And hurts knowing that I can't protect the people I love. "

They were both crying now.

"I get it." Amy finally said. "It's just a break of life."

Sophie nodded then hung up.

Amy rocked on her bed hugging her knees.

She put a little bit of Finny's hair on her finger.

And cried herself to sleep.

I know this was short but . . . I have an extra thing to do. I'm going to record this chapter with me reading everything out loud. Next chapter!
