There was a boy and girl who had been friends for years since childhood.
After a while, they began spending more time together and their friendship grew more close and intimate. Eventually, they confessed their feelings for each other and fell truly, deeply, madly in love.

They would often talk for hours on the phone and texted each other all day long. Whenever they were together, everything seemed right with the world and not a single sad thought could cross their minds.

A honey blond haired girl named Serena would wake up in the morning and go to school just to see his goofy smiling face. He would stay up late, waiting for her call and fall asleep listening to the sound of her sweet voice. She would steal his notebook in class, just so he had to put his arms around her to get it back. Every time he heard a love song on the radio, he would think of her with every single line.

Then, one day, the girl didn't show up for class. He tried to contact her to see what was wrong, but she never answered his text messages. He tried to call her, but she didn't answer the phone. The boy became very worried that something was wrong.

That night, he laid down on a soft bed and tried to sleep, but it was no use. He couldn't stop thinking about her. Just then, his phone started ringing. It was her. He answered the phone, holding it up to his ears.

"Hey, Sere" The boy greeted, speaking on the phone

"Hey Ashy" she replied back on the line.

" I missed you at school today. Why weren't you there?" Ash questioned. A frown crept up to his face.

"I-I had to go to the doctor" Serena answered Nervously.

"Oh really? Why?" Ash said getting curious.

"Nothing. Just some flu shots, that's all." She said

"Well, you didn't miss anything much," Ash said

Suddenly, Serena burst into tears.

" Serena, What's wrong? Why are you crying?" Ash asked, worried. He got up from the bed and starts walking around the bedroom.

" It doesn't matter..." Serena said.

"It does matter. I want to know why my sere is crying..." Ash said

"C-Can I ask you a question?"

"Of course..." Ash asked

"Do you love me?" Serena question

"You know I do!" Ash answered.

"How much do you love me?"

"I love you more than anything in this world," Ash replied

"Would you do anything for me?"

"Yes, Sere. There's nothing I wouldn't do for you." Ash said

"Would you die for me?" She questioned again

"Yeh, I'll jump off the train for you. Is there something wrong?"
Ash said

Serena started crying even harder.
"Really?"

"Yes, really!" Ash said

"Let me hear you say it."

"I would jump off the train for you. Now, please tell me, what's wrong." Ash questioned.

For a moment, there was an awkward silence on the end of the line.

"Nothing... I have to go."

"Wait!" Ash said

"I can't... I-I've really got to go..."

" please, Don't leave me hanging like this." Ash asked

"Sorry..."

"So, I'll see you tomorrow at school?" Ash questioned to his girlfriend

" Um, Maybe..."

"Alright, bye," Ash said

"Goodbye." The line was off.

Ash put his phone on the desk and went to bed.

Next day

It was now morning. the sun rose up from sunrise as birds singing in groups up in the blue clear sky. Ash got ready for school and went downstairs as his mother prepared breakfast for him, after that he went straight to school saying goodbye to his mother.

When Ash arrives, he didn't see his girlfriend anywhere which was really strange for him but luckily there was Gary and Drew at the park so he went towards them.

"Hey, have you seen my girlfriend today?" Ash asked his friends

"No." Drew asked and shook his head

"She wasn't here yesterday, either. She was acting all weird on the phone last night." Ash said

"Well, Ashy boy, you know how girls are sometimes...eh," Gary said. Raising one eyebrow while nudging him on the shoulder

"Yeah, but not her." Ash said with a frown

"I don't know what else to say, man." drew replied, shrugged his shoulder.

"Okay, well I gotta get to English. I'll see ya after school." Ash said and starts walking away from his friends.

"Yeah I gotta get to Science. Later." Drew said and walks off

"see ya later aligators" gary said and walks in a different direction.

time skip

That night, Ash was in the living room watching a movie called Romeo and Juliet. Until he got another phone call from his girlfriend. he took out his phone and answered, putting the phone up to his ear.

"Hey sere, Why weren't you at school today?" Ash questioned, he stood up from the sofa and switched the tv off.

"I had another appointment with the doctor." Serena replied on the line.

"Are you sick?" Ash worriedly questioned.

"Um, I have to go. My mom's calling on the other line." his girlfriends said.

"I'll wait." Ash asked

"It may take a while. I'll call you later."

"No! I want you to tell me what is wrong." Ash demanded worried for his girlfriend

"I don't think we should see each other anymore."

when she said that, Ash heart broke into million pieces, it was like the world was crashing down. Millions of questions were filling up to his head. why? why does she want to break up? what did i do wrong?. He thought.

"W-What? W-What do you mean? You want to break up?" Ash asked, on a verge of crying, his eyes began to water with tears.

"It's the best thing for us right now."

"P-Please, don't do this to me, sere... I love you so much... I don't want our relationship to be over." Ash said, tears began to fall, his knees dropped to the floor while his hand were on the table giving him the support.

"Neither do I..."

"What have I done wrong, sere? please tell me" Ash questioned as he manages to speak out.

"It's not you...Ash. It's me..."

"I-I can't believe you're doing this to me. why Serena" Ash said, lowered his voice on the the last part

"I have too, but I will always love you. I'll remember the best time we had, our friendship, our love and...our...first kiss. Goodbye...Ash"

the line went off. Ash drops the phone as tears were coming out uncontrollably and starts to cry while covering his face with his own bare hands, crying on the floor, crying from the break up. Then his mother arrived and saw her son. She walked towards him and crouch down.

"Ash dear, what wrong" delia asked, giving him a comfortable hug.

"m-m-mum, i-i-i" Ash tried to speak but the words couldn't come out from his mouth and bailed again. tears were dropping on to his mothers shirt while she hugs and rocks on, comforting her son to stop crying.

"there, there Ash. I'll be alright" delia said in a soothing tone. As the mother and son stayed in the position for a couple of minutes.

For the next three weeks, Ash girlfriend or should i say his EX, was absent from school. Whenever Ash tried to call her, she never answered phone.

One day, Ash was sitting alone in the cafeteria, drinking coffee from a plastic cup while going on the phone, reading a story called 'wattpad amour.'
when his friend, Gary, approached him and sat down beside Ash.

"Hey Ashy boy" Gary greeted in a low voice.
Ash was confused, normally his friends would tease or joke towards him but this was different.

"Hey gary, what's up, you're acting strange today" Ash questioned to his friend, looking at him. Putting his coffee on the table.

"Um... Ash. Have you talked to your ex-girlfriend lately?" Gary questioned

"no. I haven't talked to her since our break up" Ash said, feeling upset from the broken relationship.

"So you didn't hear?" gary murmured looking down, facing away from Ash.

"Hear what?" Ash questioned to him, as curious was kicking in.

Gary signed "I don't know if I should be the one to tell you..."

"Gary!, just tell me!," Ash interrupts, he was about to speak again untill.

"She's in the hospital, godammit, she was in surgery since you and her have broke off" gary shouted at him.

Ash was shocked, his mouth was gaped open, eyes were widen after hearing the news about his girlfriend, serena.

"W-What? Why? When did this happen?" Ash questioned thrice.

"Just go and see her." Gary responded towards his friend.

"Okay, thanks!" Ash nods.

After school, Ash rushed to the hospital. At the front desk, he asked the receptionist if his girlfriend was a patient there.

" why Yes, she's one of our patients." the receptionist said.

"What's wrong with her?" Ash shouted

" I'm sorry, Sir. We can't give out confidential information about our patients." the receptionist asked.

"Where is she?" Ash demanded

"She's in the isolation ward."

"Can I see her?" Ash said

"I'm sorry, Sir. That's not possible. The isolation ward is off limits to visitors." receptionist replied.

"I have to see her! Get out of my way!" Ash said and was about to go untill a security blocked him, stopping his tracks.

"Sorry sir, You can't go in the.."

Ash punched the security making him fall to the ground with blood dripping from his nose and ran off down the hallway. Eventually, he came to the isolation ward. Behind a glass wall, he saw his girlfriend lying in bed. It was a pitiful sight.she had tubes coming out from her nose and mouth. Surgeons were gathered around the bed, working on her. They were wearing protective clothing and their faces were covered by masks.

"SERENA!" Ash shouted and starts banging on the glass, shouting her name with tears sliding from his cheek.

Serena slowly turned her head and was shocked to see him standing there. Ash slightly waved to her, but she didn't wave back. Ash was disappointed. Then, he looked closer and realised, to his horror, that she didn't have any arms or legs. Ash rushed through the door, pushing the surgeon away from his girlfriends and stood beside her.

"Serena, A-are you OK?" Ash questioned

"I didn't want you to see me like this." serena replied.

" W- What have they done to you?" Ash questioned again.

" Don't look at me, please." Serena asked, looking away.

" serena!, Babe! What happened? Talk to me!, please." Ash questioned once again in a begging tone.

"I..." serena said but stops her sentence, looking at Ash with little tears forming in her eyes.

"You what?" Ash said

"I have flesh-eating disease." She answered.

"What's that?" ash questioned.

"The doctors call it Necrotizing Fasciitis. I'm on life support. The disease is eating me alive." Serena said. Tears started to drip from her cheek.

Ash burst into tears. crying for his girlfriend.

"T-This can't be happening." Ash mustered as he spoke

" The doctors said I must have caught it when I fell into that sewage tank. They had to remove my arms and legs, but that didn't stop it from spreading. There's nothing more they can do for me. They're taking me off life support in one hour." serena replied

" What!, W-Why didn't you tell me?" Ash questioned. 

"I wanted to... Really, I did..." serena spoke

"Why didn't you serena" Ash asked.

"I couldn't. I didn't want to hurt you." serena answered.

"Why did you break up with me?" ash questioned.

"The disease is contagious. I didn't want you to catch it." serena answered.

"I don't care!, you know that i love you, why serena, why"

"I-I couldn't take that risk. I love you more than anything." serena said.

" What should i do? I can't go on living without you!" Ash replied and cries.

" Don't be sad for me. Just remember this. I love you and I'll always be there with you, in your heart." serena said and smiles with one drop of tear slides down from her blue shining eyes.

The boy fell to his knees, doubled over in pain. suddenly Hospital security came through the door and grabbed him, carried him away from serena

"NO! SERENA!" Ash shouted and punched the security on the jawline and tried to go to his girlfriend but no use. the security pulled him away and exited the door with Ash who was stiil shouting her name. serena watched her boyfriend leaving out of sight.

"I love you...Ash" serena said, in her final words.

Later that night, the doctors taken off serena's life support and she died slowly on the hospital bed. closing her eyes leavin the world and her lover.

The next day, Ash didn't show up for school as His friends wondered where he was. Instead,
he made his was to the train line and waited to see if a train was coming then saw a train coming at a high speed. Ash walked and stopped at the line while the train was heading towards him.
the driver saw Ash and starts to horn to move out, however, Ash didn't move and stood straight in the same position.
tears were forming while closed his eyes shut.

"i love you...Serena," he said in his final words.

the train came and....
