1 week later

In a busy hallway where students were going to their classrooms for lesson. Ash was walking to his own locker ignoring other students around him with Pikachu by his shoulder.

It has been a week after the incidents happened between him and Lillie, she had to apologise a lot of times. Ash accepted her apology and carried on forgetting about it, luckily this was a secret from Serena.

Ash arrives at his locker, he takes out a key from his pocket and puts it in the keyhole to unlock, swinging the locker fully opens to put his requirements inside.

However, What he didn't know was a person walking towards him. He stops near Ash as he puts his last stuff in the locker and shuts it. Finally, he looks over his shoulder to see a boy shorter than him. It did spook Ash little of his appearance.

Ash gives a puzzled expression, wanting to know why the boy was here so he spoke first.

"Er, hello"

"Hi, are you the school champion" the boy replied.

Ash raised an eyebrow then smiled, "yep, your talking to him" he pointed at himself.

A smile also plastered on the boys face, in surprise "really....well, there's something I want to do and....I want to battle" he said.

Ash sensed the boy's determination, he wasn't joking at all. He couldn't turned down the offer of battling.

"Sure" was all he said with a fist pump.

"Pika" Pikachu doing the same as his trainer.

We now set at a place in battlefield were two trainers were battling for the champion. On one side was defending and the other was claiming it.

it was an intense battle from the crowds point of view as they watched in excitement and roared loud across the gym.

They have been sitting there for the past couple of minutes now, watching every battle without taking their eyes from it. which has now come down to their last Pokemon.

In the stand, Gary and his friends were watching the battle cheering on for Ash, even Serena who was sitting next to Calem who was glaring at Ash on the battlefield which the gang ignored it.

"Greninja use cut now" a raven teenage boy commanded, speedily points straight ahead with a determined wide smile, like he was having a fun time in this intensive match.

Pikachu was beside Ash, the yellow mouse also battle but got fainted so he had to watch the final battle between two trainers.

The frog Pokemon forms sharp daggers in his frogged-hands and dashes towards his opponent with narrow eyes as he tales him to attack until a counter was heard.

"Sceptile use leaf blade" a green haired person commanded with his Big hair waving and swipes his hand through the air. He wore a green suit and brown shorts up to his knees, gazing at his pokemon infront of him which is a grass type Sceptile.

"SCEP. TILE!" It screamed.

Sceptile razor sharp were glowed green. controlling its power. Starting to motion in an X shape and uses his power legs to lunge forward with dust spitting out as he runs straight towards it's opponent, ready to attack.

When Greninja and Sceptile were close, they clash their attacks in power and force, not losing one another. Then they go back to back with every strength they have by keeping locks on each other eyes as they do it with ember spitting out in each clash.

Ash was looking closely at his synchronised partner to find an opening while the green haired boy was forming a plan to come up next.

they were both watching on to know who will hit first until...

Greninja hits his white glowed stick cut on Sceptile's green body making the grass lizard type slide back to his trainer. Stopping in front and squints in pain but not fainted just yet.

"You're really good Sawyer" Ash called from the other side of the battlefield with a signature grin.

Sawyer smiled from his praise "thanks Ash. But we can do better" he said with a smirk.

Ash knew what was coming, he looked over at Greninja by giving a nod. Greninja does the same as he stood up straight.

"Greninja let's get stronger, TOGETHER!" Ash screamed with all his might. "Greninja!"

A blue water tornado was formed in the same position from Greninja until it soon disappeared into thin air, revealing a new form of Greninja. The blue synchronised frog stood straight, same goes for Ash with a burning sensation raising up.

The crowd began to cheer loud for Ash and Greninja, even his friends except Calem. Although they did not know what was coming next.

Sawyer smiled, he takes out a notepad from his pocket and pulls a clip that had a key stone attached to it.

Alain saw this as he knew what it was, even the gang and crowd which was turning into more exciting battle.

"Sceptile, let's go, let's show them what we can do. Mega evolve!"

Sceptile screamed as he transformed into a different form. It's body was bigger with the X shaped been formed on its chest and tail was growing bigger but longer. 

Ash was surprised but soon changed into a smile that this was going to be challenging battle but fun too.

When the transform has finished, Sawyer immediately commanded first. "Sceptile use leaf storm"

The mega evolved Sceptile whirled around with his back facing forward, on it's tail was a shaped looking spear that started to spin around fast as it took aim and fires straight at Greninja in full speed.

Ash was about to speak up but didn't have time to react to counter as leaf blade hits directly at Greninja's centre slender body, causing it to fly up in air with a loud bomb at end. As it did, Greninja started to fall from air with eyes shut, bearing the pain which he was dealing a damage from a grass type move. Ash felt the pain when the attack made contact in both of their synchronise body.

Serena was watching on the battle at stands, looking straight at Ash with a worried face and a fist was lifted near her chest but it was noticed by Calem.

"why are you worried about him, he cheated on you" he said, in jealousy that she didn't care about him.

Serena ignored his words and continued on watching the battle between two trainers. She didn't like Calem attitude at all. It was almost as if he hates Ash she thought. Also, he did ask her out but she rejected him, again.

Serena wanted to leave from Calem, but she couldn't after spending less time with Ash, not saying a single to each other through out the day they have been going on. she even felt jealous of seeing both Ash and Lillie spend time together in school and outside with her friends.

Serena glanced at Lillie who was smiling at the battle field. Serena looks at her for a second then back at the battlefield with the next move being spoken.

"Follow up with Frenzy plant"

A green electric wave was near to Sceptile, bending down at the dusted ground with arms wide open then clasp it shuts with his claws together, making a white smoke coming from it spreading through the thin air. Soon, a brown wavy lined roots crunched out from ground as it waves through the air, heading straight at the falling Greninja.

"don't give up! come on!" Ash encouraged, shouted from the top of his lungs.

Greninja heard his words, he opened his eyes to see the roots coming towards him. Immediately, It regained position and sensed danger heading towards him. He twist his body straight as he now lands on a gigantic root, sprinting each across, dodging any roots that came in its way ahead, jumping one by one.

"Use cut Greninja" Ash commanded at the right time. knowing what's in front of Greninja's view.

Greninja heard this. A form of sword appeared in its frogged-hand and slashes through each root that came in the way.

Then Greninja lands safely on battlefield ground after doing some more slashing but then there were more coming in his way.

"Greninja, use cut again.You can do it" Ash shouted, feeling himself burning up and heart was beating like a drum with adrenaline flowing through his body. His face was determined which is the meaning of fight and succeed to win this intense battle, defending his champion.

In one swift movement, Greninja slashes every root coming in his way as roots sliced into chunks.

Crowd was now excited from the two talented trainers as they carry on battling while gang kept on watching to see who will win this battle.

"Marvellous, Ash is really bonded with Greninja" sycamore exclaimed from the stands.

Here, the shuriken on Greninja's back was bigger in a star shaped because of its syncs with his trainer was growing high with its bond forming together and battling together.

"Let's go" Ash shouted, with a fist pump.

"Pika" Pikachu encouraged, same action as it trainer. 

Greninja instantly jumped in air, gliding through wind by dodging every root in it's way as it was now cleared at Sceptile view to attack.

"Greninja use double team" Ash said with a fist pump, again.

Greninja made copies of itself around in the air with Sceptile standing at the ground, watching every Greninja's being formed around it. A sweat of fear drips from the green lizard even Sawyer who had not seen any like this before from a champion and idol.

"Sawyer! this everything we got from me and Greninja, Use water shuriken!" Ash shouted with all his might, copying the action of Greninja.

All of Greninjas copies flied to the real Greninja as it hold the blue glowing shuriken making it go bigger, and finishes it by holding on top giving a clear view as it was about to get ready to attack.

A sweat of bead dripped from Sawyer forehead watching in wide eyes of the bigger water shurkien but manages to speak out the attack.

"Sceptile use leaf storm" he screamed with nervous spitting out.

Sceptile heard this as its tail spins around fast and takes aim at Greninja, firing straight at it in speed with full power.

Greninja pulls his arm back for thrust and power then pushes it with the water shuriken to depart from his grip. spinning it rapidly in air, heading towards leaf storm in speed while spinning.

The two attack clashed to each other, fighting for power until it was stopped. The shuriken overpower leaf storm as the shurkien was now heading straight to Sceptile having not time to move with Sawyer not saying anything since this is the last move for him as Shuriken hits dead on Sceptile, causing dust of smoke to erupt from the final attack.

The crowd watched on to see who won the battle even the gang waiting patiently to see if Ash won.

When smoke cleared in the battlefield, Sceptile was on floor with swirling eyes, fainted while Greninja gracefully lands on the ground, near to its trainer with arms folded.

"sceptile is unable to battle, Greninja wins. which means the match goes to Ash Ketchum" the referee motion with a flag in his hand.

Crowd were erupted with chants and claps, applauding the match. The gang stood up from their seat and clap too with cheers from Gary to his friend Ash.

Serena was looking at Ash with a blush formed on her face, but Calem notices this making a growl in jealousy, hiding his tight fist in his free pocket.

Sawyer unclips pokeball from his belt, lifting with it and returns the fainted Sceptile with a red beam shooting out and return to its sphere shaped capsule.

"you did great Sceptile" he said with smile, glancing at the pokeball and clips it back on the belt. When he did, he looked up to see Ash high fiving Greninja for his praise of the battle, after winning the match.

Sawyer walks up to him.

"That was good battle Ash" he said which got Ash's attention to face him and smiled widely in excitement as he came close and stopped.

"Yeah it was sawyer. it was really a great battle. i was very excited. " Ash smiled while rubbing his nose with a forefinger and Pikachu sat on his shoulder with a smile. Greninja was standing beside Ash with arms folded, hearing from the two rival trainer.

"Thank you. i will receive experience someday, and next time Ash. I will beat you" sawyer told, meaningfully.

"i will also be stronger." he said with hand turning into a fist near his face, in determination "i will not lose, we have a battle again someday." he commented and offered Sawyer a hand shake.

Sawyer looked at it for a second in surprise, receiving a handshake from his idol and rival. A smile plastered on his face.

"Ash....okay" he exclaimed and connect his hand to Ash's.

The two boys shook hands in sportsmanship causing the whole crowd to cheer loud.

At stand.

Gary had a smile on his lips, knowing that his friend would win the match even his friends behind Paul, cilan, Clemont, Drew and Alain since they supported him throughout each day cheering him. May also was cheering the loudest with Iris, Dawn and Misty.

However, we were missing one person and that person was Serena smiling widely at Ash, she could always smile like that and will always will be.

Lillie slightly glanced behind to see her smile which she smiled too but when her view to a guy was next her, it made Lillie suspicious of his action that was different than the rest.

"Yes Ashy-boy!" Gary exclaimed. " i knew he could do it, told ya. Gary oak is never wrong"

"will you shut up. Pathetic" Paul said as usual.

"Well that's my cousin" May said with a cheerful smile and a wink.

"no it's Ashy boy" Gary said, comeback.

"What a kid" Iris said.

"i don't even know why you guys support him" Calem spoke out of the blue. "he just cheated on Serena don't you understand"

the gang looked away from battle to Calem with glaring faces.

Gary and May had enough of his behaviour, hating Ash in each day even the gang too except Lillie who does't even know him.

Alain was looking at Calem. He knows who he is now while Clemont remained quiet which Calem really liked that his plan is not revealed.

"Then were is the proof then, huh." Gary responded, holding his anger.

Calem rolled his eyes in ignorance. "Ask Serena, she saw it since they both broke up. Even you dawn, you saw what Ash did, kissing another girl"

"Yeah. But we don't know if its him or not. i still believe Ash didn't cheat on Serena" Dawn told. placing her hand on hips with narrowed eyes.

Calem growled one last time "Whatever" he respond and walks away from his seating. As he did, he looked back at Serena as he was about to leave the gym.

"you coming Serena" he said, looking at her.

Serena glanced at Calem then at her friends who were now focusing at her, waiting for an answer to be spoken out. Serena wanted to go but her body didn't want that, instead it wanted to stay in same position.

Serena looked at Calem and shook in rejection "no Calem, i'll stay here"

The gang smiled at her response making the right decision while Calem was fuming inside but did not show it.

"fine" he responded flatly in his last word and heads out before taking a secret glare at Ash on the battlefield.

"Good job Serena" Dawn smiled as the gang now began to walk out the gym together with Serena in a different way.

Ash looked over to see his friends leaving, so he says farewell to his friend/rival Sawyer and walks out the gym with Pikachu on his shoulder, after returning Greninja to its pokeball.
