Since I have an essay to write today, I'm publishing a one-shot done by @eeveerocks :3 hope you enjoy. The truth is, I think I'll be publishing the one-shots that others have done and post them for the rest of the week since I have a lot of projects =^= and don't remind me of the finals UGH

Ring, Ring, Ring!

Ash jolted awake and glanced at the clock.

December 25th, 2017

9:00 AM

"It's Christmas!" Ash jumped out of bed, and pulled on his long black pants and tugged on his favorite blue jacket before heading to the kitchen. It was his first Christmas he had spent alone and he didn't know what to do.

Ash pulled out his favorite brand of cereal and munched it dully at the counter. He had just prepared to go outside before noticing a large red present sitting by the door.

"Who's this from?" Ash murmured. He was about to yank it open, but a bark from the box startled him. Slowly pulling the wrapping off, he found a cardboard box, and in it was the cutest animal he had ever seen.

In the box, was a golden puppy. Ash lifted it up and glanced at the card in the box. On it was some fancy cursive script.

Hey,
I saw you've been lonely, so I sent this little cutie! Hope he cheers you up.

"So this random person decides to give me this little guy..." Ash muttered."Can't argue about it though."

"Well, you're a cutie!" Ash said, tickling the little puppy. "Hey, I'll name you Chu."

The puppy gave a small bark and Ash laughed. He hadn't felt so happy since he had spent his last week at his mom's house. Mom!

Ash went to his laptop, where he opened the application called Deoxys Connections. He put in his Mom's number and the screen showed:

Loading...Search for the number...

"Hey, Mo-" Ash stopped himself. Instead of his mom, was standing a beautiful girl.

"Mom?" The girl laughed. "Am I that old?"

"Oh, sorry." Ash scratched his neck. "I meant to call my mom. It appears I called the wrong number."

"Oh, it's fine!" The girl gave him a smile that melted his heart. "I'm guessing you called her for Christmas?"

"Yup!" Ash said.

"Then, Happy Christmas!" The girl said. "I've got to go, so bye!"

The girl disappeared from the screen, and Ash was left with a feeling he had never felt before. The feeling of love.

"Ashy-Boy, what's wrong with you?" Gary nudged the raven-haired boy, who sat gloomily on the couch.

"None of your business, Gary." Ash muttered, closing his eyes.

"Love problems?" Gary asked, knowingly.

"No." Ash said though he was slightly blushing.

"Ashy-Boy is in love!" Gary sang.

"No, I'm not." Ash complained.

"Yes, you are!" Gary said. "So who's the lucky girl?"

"I dunno." Ash said.

"What do you mean?" Gary asked, bewildered.

Ash filled him in on what had happened the previous Monday.

"Ashy-Boy, why can't you just call her again?" Gary asked.

"Jeez Gary, I never thought to do that!" Ash said, sarcastically. "No, every time I call the same number, a different girl picks up!"

"You don't even know her name?" Gary asked.

"No, didn't ask her." Ash mumbled. "Listen, I'm going to get some coffee. You wanna come?"

"Nope! Got a date with some hot chick. Smell ya later!" Gary left, and Ash left to get his breakfast at Starbucks.

"Peppermint Latte with a Breakfast Sandwich." Ash said, without looking up at the waitress.

"You could be a little more polite you know." The waitress sniffed, but Ash, not being in the mood to be polite, ignored her comment.

A minute later, steps approached him. He smelled food but still didn't take his eyes off his phone.

"You weren't being polite to my friend. What's wrong? You're usually polite to people." A voice said. Ash looked up. He had been replaying that voice in his mind for the last week.

"How-how'd you know?" Ash asked, bewildered.

"I've seen you come here for the last year." The girl laughed.

"How come I've never seen you here?" Ash asked.

"I'm usually in the kitchen. But then today, my friend, Dawn came in loudly complaining about a guy who wouldn't even look up at her. So I came to see this person, and surprisingly, it was you."

"Um...sorry." Ash said, sheepishly, scratching his neck.

"Oh, you shouldn't be saying that to me." Serena said. "Hey, this Friday, are you available?"

"Yeah. Why?" Ash said.

"I was thinking we could go have a picnic at the Azure Lake. Do you want to come?" Serena asked.

"Sure!" Ash said, ecstatic.

"I've noticed that you've also sometimes brought a friend. Don't tell her I said this, but she had a crush on your friend. Could you bring him along?" Serena asked.

"Gary? Sure, just warning you, he's not the most appropriate person." Ash said. "I'll assume you're bringing Dawn?"

"Yup! See you there!" Serena said.

Ash left the cafe, feeling considerably happier than when he had entered.

"So we're going to meet the chick you're obsessed with?" Gary asked.

"And the chick who's obsessed with you." Ash said, rolling his eyes.

"Whuuuut. There is a girl who obsessed with me?" Gary said, with disbelief in his eyes.

"Yup. Serena said so." Ash said. "I thought you'd be like I'm the best and the greatest Gary Oak, so of course girls are obsessed with me but nope, I was wrong."

"O-of course girls are obsessed wi-with me." Gary stuttered. "It's just-"

"Oh, come off it Gary. We're almost there." Ash hopped off the bike and steered it towards the lake, where they could see a picnic blanket already laid out and heaps of food laying around. On the lake shore, was two girls, one with honey blonde hair and the other with navy blue.

"Serena!" Ash called. Serena turned around and waved.

"Hey!" Serena nudged Dawn, and the two walked over to where the two boys were standing.

"Dawn, meet Ash. Ash, meet Dawn." Serena introduced the two, and they shook hands.

"Serena, Dawn, meet Gary, my inappropriate and full of himself friend. Gary, meet Serena and Dawn." Ash introduced the three, and Gary flashed the two a smile. Serena rolled her eyes while Dawn's face became noticeably red.

Ash took a seat at the lower left corner, which Serena sat on the lower right. Gary sat next to Ash, and Dawn next to Serena. Ash's mouth watered as his eyes took in the many baked goods, sandwiches, yogurts, and more.

"Ash, we can see you drooling!" Serena said, half exasperated and half laughing.

"Let's just start eating, so we don't see Ashy-Boy's drool." Gary smirked.

Ash elbowed Gary but was soon too distracted by food to harm Gary anymore. The other three soon dug in, and soon, all the food was gone.

"Man, that was the BEST." Ash said as the four sat in the grass by the lake.

"Even I got to say, that was pretty good." Dawn said. From talking to her, Ash had learned that she rarely ate, and when she did, it was in tiny portions.

"I'm full to the brim." Serena said, closing her eyes and lying back in the grass.

"Same." Gary agreed.

Soon, all of them were lying in the grass. Ash's hand closed around Serena's, and Serena didn't protest. They had to get up once the Sun started setting, and Gary offered to take Dawn home.

"Sure." Serena said. "She'd love that."

Dawn blushed and Serena and Ash laughed as the two walked away, hands in each others.

"Well, I think Oak Tree has got a permanant girlfriend."

"Do you?" Serena said, nudging him. Seeing the look on Ash's face, she laughed. "Just kidding you!"

"Well.." Ash said.

"Well what?" Serena asked, still smiling.

"You're not making this any easier!" Ash protested.

"Oh, I'll never make anything easy for you." Serena pecked Ash on the cheek, only to hear giggling nearby. Serena turned around, only to find Dawn and Gary standing behind them.

"What are you guys doing?" Serena asked. She felt Ash poke her.

"Look up." Ash said, pointing about their heads. Serena looked up and blushed at what she saw.

"A mistletoe..." Serena murmured.

"Yup! Now, smell ya later!" Gary called, as he and Dawn left. The two made sure they actually left, before turning back to each other. Serena lay her head on Ash's chest and Ash put a hand on Serena's back.

"Love you, Ash." Serena said.

"Love you too, Serena." Ash said as the two watched the sky turn shades of pink and orange.
