Cutting straight to the chase, this is a good book. Its well written, with serious character motivations. It does start off a bit cliche, but definitely makes up for that in the long run. With a book like this, its hard to criticize it on the straight forward parts, so instead I want to talk about one of the hardest things to do, adapting amour-shipping to realistic fiction.

What this book gets right, is the initial character motivations. Ash is confident, and knows what he is doing, where as serena starts off wary of what is going on. Of course, as time goes on ash himself pushes her to greater limits, allowing her to improve over all. This really mirrors the anime very well, and ties in with the actual plot of the story.

Now, this wouldnt be a thatoneamourshipper review without me pointing out a flaw in the book. That specific flaw, will be the ending. Its hard to end a one shot without people either wanting more, or hating it. In that regard, this ending is a good way to wrap things up. Of course, this ending at the same time doesnt play very well to the shipping side of things. Serena probably still hates ash, plane and simple. It in no way satisfied my craving for ships that I had desired.

The ending was at least better than some cheap made up excuse for amourshipping to prevail, but still really left me with a little bitter taste in my mouth. That all said, I still do recommend that you go ahead and read this one shot, as it is of immense quality, that I truly enjoyed.
