Olivia sat at the black lake wondering if she would end up like her mother.
Merlin, the feelings I have for the dungeon bat makes me wonder if this is the start of my decline, she almost chuckled.
She sighed as she watched the mermaids play in the horizon. She had classes but she didn't care.
Severus watched her by the lake, she looks lost and broken, he thought about he looked the same way when he sat when he was broken.
Hell, after all these years later, I still am, he grunted as he approached her.
"You are special," he sighed.
Olivia looked at him with wide eyes, "What.... Excuse me? I don't understand...," she asked.
Severus replied, "the book... it is important to me... I see so much potential in you. Perhaps the qualities... the good qualities I lack in myself. Tell. No. one. I will deny it," he smirked as he finished his sentence.
Olivia sat silent, What the.... Hell... do I say to that?
They sat in silence a few minutes until he spoke, "My father was a violent alcoholic," he confessed hoping to elicit a response and perhaps some forgiveness from the witch.
Olivia frowned, "Mine too... my mum...has Alzheimer's. She's getting worse and I am afraid I will.... You know..."
Severus sat beside her and pulled her into his side, "End up the same way.... I am sorry, my mum was depressed all the time. She just sat there while my dad bea---," he stopped afraid he gave her too much.
Olivia put her arm around his torso, "you don't have to say it. I know," she pulled up her sleeve to reveal bruises, old scars, and new abrasions.
Severus growled, "does your Aunt know about this," he was fuming someone hurt his little witch.
Great, working on losing my mind, my witch, I am gone mental, he marveled.
Olivia sobbed, "I....no... please she can't know... I am here now and....," she pushed her face into his chest.
Merlin, he smells like bottled sex!, she mused.
Severus chuckled, "You are a strange witch," he planted a kiss on her head.
She sighed into him thinking, who knew Severus Snape had a heart!
Severus laughed, "Yes, I suppose I do," when she looked up at him in wonder he kissed her forehead.  
They sat and watched the sunset after which he escorted her back to the castle all the way to her dorms.
