Savage emotions
Nyx looked fiercely at Amoris who seemed to be clutching her head. The arrow had missed and hat hit her the side of the eyebrow; she wondered if her eyes had taken the blow.
She strutted over. "You!"
Amoris looked in fear at Nyx. "Nyx..."
"You...ruined everything!" she pointed angrily. "We all go on this hiatus or whatsoever to find some lover and look what's the price! Phantasos!"
Amoris' left eye widened, the other had a deep gash across it and Candy looked alarmed.
"Don't jump into conclusions, Nyx," she tried to say but was cut off.
"You think it's all so simple! Go here, go there, find something, and get Rex back! Well, it's not," Nyx said, slapping her and opening the wound even further.
Amoris looked hurt.
"Well, look where this is going," mused Cunning.
"I never intended..." she said, holding her cheek. "I never forced you."
"And you even dare to say that!" thundered Nyx. "Do you know that right now, you sto0ped to the level of Ze-" but caught herself.
Amoris pain worsened as it showed in her eyes. She understood. "Do you really think I'm that cheap? Like someone who'd just risk..."
But the rage in Nyx only boiled. "Well, Zeus never harmed anyone..."
"He harmed Hera, Nyx. He harmed every single girl he had an affair with. Don't you see? Mental and emotional pain is much worse..."
It was true that Nyx's fierce and overprotective character sometimes left her unstable as rage would take control.
Nyx didn't say anything.
"You know you can leave right?" asked Amoris. She didn't ask Candy for that might be a reverse way of forcing her to stay there.
Candy wrapped her arms as she pressed some grass onto her wound. "I'll stay, okay? We'll find Rex. Nyx, don't you understand that gods can come back but humans can't?"
Nyx seemed to be lost. "I...I'm sorry."
"Look, I know that gods can be reborn but that isn't the case with humans. It is not that Rex is dead, but the fact that he's been cursed. And it's hard to break them even though there are ways..." she continued softly.
Nyx bowed her head; an apology seemed to be so meager in this situation. "Well, in any case Kairos betrayed us."
Candy seemed to be lost and Amoris looked aghast. "Well...I didn't expect that...not after..."
She paused as they waited. She kept quiet.
"What? Not after what?" asked Candy.
Amoris glanced at Kairos, who was standing close to Cunning. Cunning tried to put his arm on Kairos' shoulder, but he slipped out.
"Don't get physical, Cunning," he said.
Cunning shook his head and smiled. "Well, then, give up, won't you? Or is this going to be some sickening reunion?"
Nyx looked at the water, staring at it as she whispered something. She looked deeper into it and then touched it. "Phantasos."
"Of course you'll see him; the water shows you whom you love the most. Phantasos saw himself. The fool was in love with himself," said Cunning, sniggering. "And poor grandmother, who loves her descendants so much..."
"I offer myself up in return for Phantasos," she screamed, stepping into the water. The world shook as the earth split and Candy and Amoris held onto each other. Kairos looked at the knife by the pool. Clouds of dust whirred up as everything obscured.
"Great," he said. "You just brought the goddess of all maladies herself. Pandora."
Amoris cried out; she lost two of her best friends. It seemed so futile to be playing this game anymore. Somewhere a cock crowed thrice as a bell chimed and a golden bowl fell from the sky.
