❀
The terrace.
This was the only place where she would spend hours gazing at the city of Dehradun. The mountains, the trees the beautiful sky. Everything was known to her.
The beauty of this place only made her feel peace and despite of the chaos going on in this household, she could sense calmness.
Not caring about the fact that she was in the heavy bridal attire, she sat down on the floor of the terrace and sighed heavily. She never knew the day would turn out to be like this. She didn't know she would've to marry someone. That someone being the coldest person she'd even known, Kabir Singhania.
And now she was Nyla Kabir Singhania.
A clearing of throat made her head snap in the direction of the voice.
There in his full glory was standing Kabir Singhania. His midnight black hair gelled back into perfection with his dark orbs gazing directly to her.
Nyla had to turn her head a lot upwards seeing his 6'2 height compared to her 5'3. His posture was stiff with his hands crossed in his front. His lips were pressed in a thin line below his aristocratic nose and he had a straight face not displaying any kind of emotion. When does he ever shows?
"What?" She asked making him raise the corner of his eyebrow.
Currently she had a lot more to think about considering she was now married, to him and how she'd behaved with her father after a long, long time.
Kabir only forwarded his right hand in front of her which she took, placing hers on top of his and he instantly pulled her upwards from the ground resulting in her crashing to his chest. For the second time in a day.
"Owww." She again yelped rubbing her forehead.
He gently removed her hands from her forehead that was rubbing the spot and he frowned noticing the small swell on the corner of her forehead. It couldn't be possible because of the crash he had both of the times with her.
He grazed the spot lightly with his calloused fingers and she let out a small hiss when his fingers pressed the spot.
Taking her hand in his, he quickly lead the both of them inside the bungalow and he started going to the direction of west wing making Nyla frown. Her belongings and heart was in the east wing after all.
For now she kept her mouth closed and followed Kabir wherever he was taking her and her mouth slightly dropped open as she noticed it was his room he'd brought her.
His room was something she'd expected. With the dark walls, dark bedsheets and dark wallpaper, it was something that matched his personality according to Nyla.
He made her stand in the middle of the room, just in front of the bed and grazed at her swell again. This time Nyla didn't flinch. She was busy gazing at his dark orbs which she found herself drowning in.
His hands made their way to the attire she was wearing and he gently removed the veil she was carrying resulting her in just the skirt and her blouse.
Nyla gasped at his sudden movement.
"Kabir what-" She started, but he cut her off.
"Say it again." His husky voice made her shiver.
"Say what?" She asked, breathing heavily, her chest heaving up and down.
"My name." He replied looking straight at her.
"Kabir." She listened to him and heard a groan in response.
"You're killing me. Always have, always will." Kabir said in a deep voice and Nyla was shocked to the core would be an understatement.
This was the first time she'd seen him speaking this much and that too things like this. The close proximity of them wasn't making it any easy.
"What are you doing?" Nyla questioned, confused with his actions.
In return he only took her hand in his again and lead her to the door present in the room which she assumed as the bathroom. And she was correct as Kabir opened the door, it revealed a matching bathroom.
He lead her inside the bathroom and stopped again right in the middle, just beside the basin's countertop.
It was after so long that Nyla wasn't able to form words. This was the first time she was seeing Kabir behaving this way. Kabir, who is now her husband.
He murmured something which Nyla wasn't able to catch and picked her in his arms settling her on the countertop.
"Kabir-" She again started, but he shushed her off by placing his index finger on her lips.
Not breaking the eye contact he'd maintained since the time he looked at her in his bedroom, he'd by now taken out the First aid kit from the drawer underneath her legs.
"How did this happen?" He questioned in a husky voice applying the cream on her swell.
"The bathroom door hit me in the morning." She replied in a low voice.
"Bathroom door hit you?" He repeated pulling her chin upward a little.
"Hmm." She nodded like a small child who is being questioned by her parents.
"My wife." He chuckled and Nyla's mouth dropped open.
"What?" He questioned looking at her face.
"Y-you laughed. And you s-spoke this much." She hesitated with wide eyes.
"Didn't you like it?" He asked again with a straight face.
She nodded her head immediately.
"I only speak in the matters that concerns you." He continued and Nyla's mouth dropped open again.
He was being possessive about her. She could feel it.
"Why didn't you let me sign the contract?" He asked moving his face close to her that now there was only a couple of inches gap between them.
She could feel his manly cologne. It drove her crazy. It was intoxicating for her.
"For you." She replied.
"Enlighten me how." He asked in a deep voice.
Nyla's heart was beating loudly. The first reason being Kabir who was talking to her for the first time after such long years and the fact how he was making her feel.
The sensations in her body were hard to ignore.
"You know how low they can get in the field of business. It didn't even matter to them that they forced their daughter for a deal so, just think what all they can do." Nyla said with a small sarcastic smile thinking about what happened today.
"And I know they didn't have positive intentions for the deal. They'd decided to tarnish your image with false accusations with the deal that would take place so that their business would gain a good position and name in the field." Nyla continued and by now Kabir's jaw was clenched with his fist clenched as well due to anger.
He knew it was wrong to mingle with them yet he did because of his father's force.
"Why are you telling me all this? He is your father. Your family." Kabir asking with deep interest.
"Family? I have no family." Nyla let out a laugh.
"Which family forces their daughter for a deal just because they want to ruin someone else's business?" Nyla continued, this time her eyes glistening with tears.
"I have no one now. And after what I did today, I don't think they consider me as their daughter anymore. And never have. And to be honest, at this point I don't either." She said with a known smile.
"You have me. You're my wife and from now on the only thing you need to care about is your studies. I'll look after everything myself." Kabir said with a straight face.
"Why? I know you won't accept me as your wife. You haven't even talked to me since years." Nyla gained the courage to ask.
"I did the very moment we got married." Kabir said with in a stern voice.
He took her hand in his and made her jump down the countertop. Leading her back to his room, he made his way to the bed making Nyla sit. He got outside the room and the only thing Nyla could do was looking at him do whatever he wanted to.
"I've got your belongings here. Arrange them however you like in the closet there." Kabir's voice broke her trance.
"I can't stay here." Nyla voiced out.
"Huh?" Kabir questioned coming in front of her.
"I said I can't stay here. With you." She ended.
"And why is that?" Kabir asked with a cold look.
"Just look at the way you're behaving. I will not accept anything this way." She said looking at him.
"I have always been like this." He said with a glare.
"No, you haven't." She said in a low voice.
"You changed." She continued still in a low voice.
"Not a word anymore. Go and change your clothes so you can sleep." Kabir said in a hard tone.
"You can't order me around Kabir." Nyla said, this time in a firm tone.
"I can do a lot more Mrs Kabir Singhania. Just remember that it would be for everyone except you." He said and by now Nyla's eyes wide opened as she understood the meaning behind his words.
Nyla knew very well what kind of a man Kabir was. He had never spoke more than a couple of words to anyone in this house since years. But today, he spoke a lot. With her. He was being openly possessive about his wife. That is her. And his words clearly meant that he would never think twice about doing anything possible with someone except her. Anything that could even destroy the person.
"Are you going or do I have to make you change?" He asked in a stern voice and Nyla instantly got up from the bed running to the bathroom, not before taking her clothes with her.
//////////
When Nyla got outside, she noticed Kabir sitting upright on the bed already dressed in his sweatpants and tshirt with the support from the headboard. His laptop was placed on his lap with his fingers typing furiously.
Slowly, slowly she got in the front of the bed and Kabir glanced up from his screen as he didn't notice any further movements of his wife.
Nyla's hands were fidgeting in front of her. It was clear how much nervous she was at this point.
Kabir gestured to the spot beside him on the bed with his fingers and Nyla immediately made her way to the same.
The bed was a proper king sized bed, perfect one for a built like Kabir's while as Nyla laid down on her side, she looked nothing less than a rat on the bed. Her petite frame was dipped and snuggled in the covers, but she was at high comfort.
Kabir was now busy on a call on his phone and as Nyla's thoughts went back to the day's happenings, she didn't know when a tear had escaped her eye. The way her father was adamant on getting her married just for the business. The way she raised her voice on her father for the first time. The way she ruined Arvind and Mohit's plans. The way she was now Mrs. Kabir Singhania. The way Kabir behaved with her. Her mind was in a haze and by now tears were flowing freely out of her eyes.
"Nyla." She heard Kabir's stern voice and she immediately wiped her tears.
She then turned to his direction and noticed he was still busy in the call, but his hand was held out towards her. She frowned, not getting the situation.
He gestured for her to come towards him with his hands and Nyla lowered her head in response. Today had already been too much for her and she didn't need another listening from Kabir.
"Come here." Kabir said in a tone that meant no further arguments.
Instantly, she crawled towards him and he wrapped his arms behind her back pulling her to his chest. Nyla's heart was beating loudly at his sudden gesture, but Kabir face displayed no emotion. He settled her on his lap with his one arm still wrapped around her back while one was holding his phone.
He was still busy talking to the person on the other side of the phone, but it didn't mean that his attention wasn't on Nyla. His dark orbs were fixated on her while she was looking at him like a gaping fish, her tears and worries long lost forgotten because now what mattered to her to the most was Kabir's behaviour.
"I'll talk with you later Mr. Aggarwal about the deal. I have something important to do for now." Kabir said and Nyla gulped in reaction.
As Kabir put down his phone after the call, he made Nyla face him directly by holding her chin.
"If I by any chance see a single tear flowing out of these beautiful eyes, you won't like the consequences." He said in a stern voice making Nyla's eyes go wide.
"I knew you were bad." She mumbled trying to free herself from his grip.
"Shh. Not a word." He said in a low voice and Nyla's lips were involuntarily pressed in thin line.
Carefully placing her down from his lap, though his arms still around her in an unbreakable grip, he made her lay down which Nyla could only comply to as she had no intention to argue with him.
"Sleep." He muttered covering both of them with the duvet.
"Are you uncomfortable?" He voiced out, still in a low voice that was only audible to her.
She shook her head in return. In fact she had never been this comfortable at any point of her life, but she wouldn't tell him that.
"Then?" He pressed further.
"You must be because of me." Came her soft voice.
"Have you seen your size?" His husky voice made her pout.
Nyla had always been someone on the thin side of body measures. Her petite frame was way smaller than his big one. She was looking like a rabbit compared to his muscular self.
"I am the size of a normal human being. You are way more big." She replied like a small child.
Kabir let out a laugh at her words which made a pink tint appear at Nyla's smooth cheeks.
"Sleep Nyla, tomorrow will be a big, new day for you." He continued after moments of silence and this time Nyla welcomed his warm embrace.
Never in her life she'd imagined that one day she would be sleeping this way in the arms of coldest person she has ever met, Kabir Singhania. Someone who is now her husband.
//////////
Sundays in this bungalow were fixed with a common breakfast for the members of the three houses. Everyone had to be present at the dining table in the lobby to have a meal together. And the day after Nyla and Kabir's marriage was Sunday as well.
Nyla would always look forward for this as it was the only time where the members of this bungalow would enjoy forgetting everything that was going on their lives. Nothing would be cruel for once in this house for once. But this time she wasn't. Because today, she would be going as Kabir's wife, not as the bubbly girl of the bungalow.
Her mother in-law, Neha Singhania had given her a beautiful pink ethnic suit to wear in the morning as Nyla certainly didn't have such kind of clothes with her. Her marriage was sudden after all.
She was now dressed in the same, her hair left open naturally and face with no void of makeup.
Kabir hadn't come back to his room once after he'd dressed himself early in the morning and gotten out without even telling her anything. He had always been someone who would do everything according to him, no matter how much everyone gets disturbed by it.
It was already nine in the morning and by now everyone had to be present at the dining table so, Nyla quickly made her way to the lobby that connects the three houses.
As she reached there, everyone had already seated themselves on the chairs.
The ladies were seated on one side of the table beside each other and the other side was kept for the children which were Esha, Eva, Nyla, Vansh and Kabir. The men were sitting in the other end.
The dining table had 14 seats in total from which 9 were already occupied leaving Esha who wasn't here and Nyla who had just arrived.
Kabir was as usual seated on the chair opposite to the head's which left a couple of chairs in between as there weren't exact family members as per the number of chairs. Nyla would always sit in between her brother and Esha, but today Vansh had a blank look on his face, busy with the 9 year old Eva.
As she was about to take a seat beside Eva, a voice was heard making her stop in between.
"Nyla." Kabir's voice made everyone snap their heads in the same direction. It held that level of authority.
Nyla looked at him with the same expression she was looking yesterday and in return Kabir gestured to the seat beside him which was a couple of seats away from everyone's making a good distance between Kabir and the rest of the members.
Without opposing, Nyla made her way to the seat Kabir directed on and made herself comfortable. Where the servants would be busy serving every member of the family, Kabir would keep the dishes serving himself when needed. He despised the ways everything happened in the bungalow.
He first served Nyla according to her likings and the whole time Nyla was looking at him like a gaping fish while the other members were shocked to the core except Vansh who was busy analyzing everything.
"Thanks." She said politely, recovering from the shock and in return he only gestured for the plate kept in front of her.
Everyone went back to their food while Arvind and Mohit were busy looking and analyzing Kabir and Nyla. They had lost their chance, but they wouldn't stop at any cost.
"I want everything finished that is kept in the plate." Kabir said to Nyla who was busy playing with the food.
Nyla would always eat less and her mother never cared. For her all that mattered was if her husband's demands and wishes were fulfilled or not. Her daughter was never a priority for her and that's why Nyla lacked the emotion of care.
"But-" Nyla tried to reason when he cut her off.
"No buts. You need to improve your diet." Kabir said in a stern voice and everyone's mouth dropped open in shock hearing Kabir's words which meant care for Nyla. This time Vansh had a satisfying smile on his lips.
Seeing Kabir behave this way with Nyla and the fact he was speaking this much to her was a big of a shock for everyone.
Nyla pouted and went back to eating glancing at him from time to time whose gaze was fixated on her.
The breakfast had ended moments after. Currently everyone were seated in the living room. Nyla had to sit beside Kabir as he had gestured her as always. The old men were busy in their talks while the ladies were busy with their gossiping. Vansh was now the target of Eva who happily played with her. Kabir was as usual silent, with a cold look on his face, not interested in the talks. Due to this Nyla had no other option, but to sit quietly as well.
"Nyla." A voice broke her trance. It was none other than Arvind.
"Yes, Mr. Arvind." Nyla said with a blank look.
Arvind sighed in annoyance at the choice of her words.
"You didn't want the marriage in the first place so we've decided that we'll get your divorce done with Kabir. You don't need to live with him unnecessarily and you can happily continue your studies." Arvind replied and Nyla gritted her teeth in return.
"Live with him unnecessarily? Now this marriage is unnecessary for you just because I've declined for signing the contract." Nyla voiced out and Arvind looked at her with a worried expression because Nyla was correct. She understood everything.
"And what is the guarantee that you will let me continue my studies? I know for that matter that you must've planned something else for the benefit of your business. There must he another deal ready, isn't it?" Nyla continued, raising her voice this time.
"What are you saying Nyla? Why would we do this to our own daughter?" Arvind shouted.
"Own daughter? You didn't consider me as yor daughter when you forced me to marry Kabir? It was always business for you and still is. I can guarantee on the fact." Nyla yelled.
"Lower your voice down Nyla. How dare you raise your voice at your father?" Arvind shouted.
"And how dare you raise your voice at my wife?" Kabir's voice boomed through the living room.
"Kabir son-" Arvind said in a sickening tone making Nyla grit her teeth. Oh how embarrassing it is to have such a father.
"Stop right there Mr. Rai. And don't even think about getting a divorce done between Nyla and I. You won't like the consequences and the things I would do if I by any chance hear you interfering in the matters of my wife." He continued with a cold look.
"She's my daughter. I can do whatever I please." Arvind shouted.
"She is my wife now. And from now on, I will be the one by her side to make decisions so don't even think about making any decision for her. She has her husband to worry about those things." He said with a menacing glare.
"No one can stop me." Arvind shouted.
"Think before speaking Mr. Rai. You know very well what I can do to you and your business for which you're doing these vile things. It would take me seconds for ruining your business." Kabir said with a cold look, pointing his finger to Arvind and Mohit.
"Kabir, stop it." Nyla said touching his arm.
Kabir snaps his head in her direction and from the cold look, his expression went back to the straight face he displays to her.
"Kabir please." She pleaded softly taking his hand in hers.
His eyes visibly softened and he wrapped his arm around hers in a securing manner.
"Goodbye Mr. Rai. My wife and I have something to do unlike you." Kabir said leading both of them to the west wing.
