WARNING: A super dramatic story no less than an Indian daily soap. Beware for the shocking things that will happen!
The sounds of distant whispers, laughter, gossips, teasing was reverberating through the massive bungalow. And amongst it was a girl running in the big corridors of the massive bungalow dressed in a sweet lavender colored lehenga.
Her light brown hair were set up into a perfect updo and her face was covered with a bit of makeup as per her mother's threats which are never empty.
The long lashes with a thin coat of mascara were resting on her cheeks that always had a natural glow. Her eyes, brown in color as always complimented her hair and this time her lehenga as well.
She was looking stunning. She had to because it was her bestfriend's wedding after all. It was soon that she reached her destination which was her bestfriend's bedroom and the door creaked open as per her movement.
"Esha!" She shouted getting inside, her voice that was soft as ever, yet one could never miss the mischief in it.
Her bestfriend, Esha Sinha was seated on the queen sized bed fully dressed in her bridal attire. She was looking so beautiful in the attire and the bridal look she was carrying that it was hard for her to recover from her smile that she had on her face. But unlike every bride, Esha's face was no void of emotion. There wasn't even a smile on her face.
"You're ready so early? Won't you get tired?" Was Nyla's first question as she moved closer to her.
She had always been someone with these kind of priorities. Comfort was something that was most important thing for her.
"Nyla, you know everything. I have nothing to say or decide." Esha responded with a sour look.
"And I suggested you hundreds of times that you should run. I was ready to help you." Nyla said sitting beside her.
Esha's parents, Mohit Sinha and Shalini Sinha had forcefully made her agree with this marriage only because of business purpose. Esha had as always denied everything at first, but as soon as she got an earful from her father, she had no option but to agree. After all she had been agreeing to his every demand since her birth.
"I can't. They would find me from any corner of the world." Esha responded, barely controlling her emotions.
She had her eyes glistening with tears as she spoke to Nyla. No matter how many times Nyla tried to make her understand, but she couldn't take any step due to the fear of her father as one thing that she was scared of was her family and the level they could stoop to.
"But if you'll marry Rahul then they won't be able to do anything, but to accept you and your long time boyfriend who you want to marry." Nyla reasoned.
"Isn't Rahul okay with this as well?" Nyla continued asking her doubts.
"Yes. He said he'll marry me at any point of time. He loves me so much Nyla and even I do. I cannot imagine my life without him." Esha cried.
"Then do it." Nyla pressed the matter further.
"My wedding is in 5 hours with someone else. And you know how Dad has prepared everything. I am sure the bungalow is rounded with hundreds of guards." Esha said in a low voice.
"But-" Nyla started only to be cut off by Esha.
"Let it be Nyla. It's my fate. I have to accept this as well like I've been doing every demand of his since childhood." Esha said with a small smile and this time Nyla couldn't smile back. It was such a situation.
"Why don't you-" Nyla again started, but she was again cut off.
"Nyla will you please call Eva? She must be in her room." Esha said with a small smile directing towards her younger sister.
Nyla knew she was trying to distract her from this topic. Their family had always been a sour topic to talk about and something Nyla and her could relate well. And when Esha was trying to distract, Nyla knew better than to drag this matter further.
"Sure." Nyla couldn't help but to agree with her.
She quickly exited Esha's bedroom and made her way to the massive staircase in the bungalow that connected the three different houses.
The bungalow had 3 separate houses in total. Nyla's parents, Arvind Rai and Naina Rai were the best of friends with Esha's parents and they had the same relations with another couple who was Saurabh Singhania and Neha Singhania resulting in all of the three families living in the same bungalow with separate houses. Only that they were connected by a common lobby.
The east wing was occupied by Nyla's family while the middle wing was by Esha's and that's why the west wing was of the Singhania's.
But the only wing Nyla had stepped in besides hers was the middle one. And that was also only because her bestfriend lives in the same.
Since she had forgotten her phone in her own room so, she decided to go to her wing first as she basically couldn't survive without her phone for more than 10 minutes.
Quickly, she made her way to her room, basically running inside the concrete structure without bothering to look at her surroundings and found her phone laying on the bed and took it immediately with her, now getting out of the room.
As always she was busy in her dress and didn't bother to look up while walking resulting in her crashing to a hard chest which made the impact of her falling down on the marbled floor.
"Owww!" She yelped rubbing her arms.
She glanced up with a frown on her forehead only to see a man dressed in a expensive suit looking at her with the same expression he had been since years.
Hand fixated in his pant's pocket, while the other was holding the phone that was pressed on his ears, he was boring holes in her head with the stoic look. It was a burning gaze that she badly wanted to ignore.
His hair were slicked back into perfection, the shine evident in the raven color and silky texture. His eyes, they were void of any emotion as they glanced up at her fallen form, basically ignoring the person on other side of the call who was speaking continuously.
As soon as Nyla realized it was him with whom she'd crashed, she immediately scowled forgetting about the pain or his reaction towards her.
"Piece of stone." She muttered lowly, helping herself getting up from the ground because she knew she won't receive any kind of help from his side.
The man, least bothered with her glare and with a cold look of himself, glanced at her for a couple of seconds and turned on his heels the next moment, retreating towards the west wing.
Her mood turned sour with the encounter she had moments ago, but she had to complete the task given to her by Esha so she quickly walked up to the required floor on the middle wing of bungalow where she had to meet Eva, Esha's younger sister.
Swinging the door open to Esha's sister bedroom, she instantly stepped in taking the known surroundings.
"Eva darling." She called out to the 9 year old who was busy playing with the kitchen set with her nanny.
"Nyla!" Eva shouted running in her direction and engulfed her in a tight hug.
It was hard for her since Nyla was at a good height compared to her little self.
"How's my princess?" Nyla questioned taking the girl in her arms although it was a bit difficult as she'd grown a lot than before.
"Fantastic. Esha di is getting married to Kabir bro na." She replied enthusiastically.
"Of course." She forced a smile. Kabir Singhania, that man, she sighed.
"Come here, I want to show you something." With this she dragged Nyla to her collection of toys and games.
As always, Nyla couldn't deny the little girl for anything. She was the youngest in this bungalow who was the little princess of everyone, including Kabir. He would at times even bring chocolates for her or play tag as Eva forces him to do so.
Those might me one of the very few times that Kabir would actually be doing something except working his ass off in office.
//////////
Nyla couldn't even realize when an hour had passed playing with Eva and how she completely forgotten about the task she'd come here for.
"Eva." She called out to the 9 year old who was busy watching the cartoon on the flat TV screen.
"Yes?" She asked adorably turning in her direction.
"Your sister said to-" As she was saying, she got interrupted by a loud voice.
"Where is she?" She recognized the voice as her mother's.
The door to Eva's bedroom suddenly swinged open making her flinch, but she recovered quickly. It revealed her mother and Esha's mother looking all panicked.
"Where is she?" Her mother's loud voice was heard as she asked coming straight in front of her.
"Who?" Nyla questioned in confusion.
"Your bestfriend. Where is Esha?" This time it was Esha's mother.
"She must be in her room, right?" Nyla replied not getting the current situation.
"No, she's not. And you come with me downstairs right now." Her mother, Naina said gesturing to the door.
Nyla simply shrugged and exited the room before they could say any other word to her as they usually do. She quickly made her way downstairs to the main lobby of the bungalow which connects the 3 wings.
A big frown formed on her face as she saw every member of the 3 families present in the main living room, sitting and looking tensed as ever.
As usual she made her way to the fixed seat of hers which was beside her elder brother by 2 years, Vansh Rai. He smiled brightly at his only sister, wrapping his arm around her shoulder making Nyla sigh in comfort. Her brother has always been her big teddy bear.
"Why is everyone looking so tense?" She whispered in his ear.
"You'll know soon, doll. Don't stress." He passed a smile and Nyla smiled cheekily in return. She can never get enough of her brother's care and the nicknames he has for her.
"What is this Nyla?" Her father, Arvind asked her coming towards her in long strides.
For a second she got scared at the sudden commotion, but feeling Vansh squeezing her shoulders, she relaxed now knowing she has her brother beside.
"What is what?" She asked frowning.
In return, he only handed a piece of paper which was in Mohit Sinha's hands which she gladly took. She began reading whatever was written on the paper.
Dear Mom and Dad,
I am sorry, but I can't marry Kabir. He's a man I haven't even talked to once and someone you guys have forced on me. I tried explaining you everything, but you didn't budge. So, I had to take this decision. To run. I am running away from this marriage and you guys. Please don't try to contact me because I left my phone back and I need my time away from you guys because I feel suppressed here. Once again I am sorry I did this, but I now know Nyla was right since the beginning.
Your daughter,
Esha.
Nyla gulped as soon as she completed the letter. She just couldn't believe Esha took this step that too 3 hours prior to the wedding.
"Now tell me what she meant by you were right since the beginning." Arvind asked his daughter, a harsh glare formed on his face since the moment she'd seen him.
"I-it's nothing Dad." She hesitated. What is she even supposed to tell them? That she kept suggesting her to run away from her wedding and she did that too only three hours prior to the wedding.
Sweat beads were forming on Nyla's forehead as this was basically a step Nyla was forcing on Esha since days which she now had taken. Running away at this point was only a foolish move of Esha and it was only because the opportunity was till a couple of days ago. Right now, the best option was to go with everything that Esha ignored just like she did when Nyla was suggesting her to run.
"Don't even think about lying Nyla." Her father warned.
His glare was fixated on her as he pointed a warning finger towards her. Her father had always been a strict man and she never had a normal relationship with him since she would feel scared. She didn't try to approach him and neither did he. That's why Vansh was more of a support system for her.
"I only said that she should complete her studies first rather than getting married." She lied with great difficulty in a low voice.
"Is it? Who asked for you opinion?" Her father asked with a glare.
"I did. On my own because she's my bestfriend." This time her voice was firm.
"And because of that she has now run away. Do you know how much humiliation Mohit will have to go through because of this? There are already thousands of guests waiting at the venue for the wedding to be started and here the bride isn't even present. Why? Because she ran away listening to the advice of you." Arvind said in a hard voice.
"So? You guys did this under a week right? Now you can end it within hours." Nyla said with a blank look.
She never had a normal relationship with her parents just like Esha. They had always been someone who wanted everything according to them and would reach up to any heights for gaining it just the way they had done with making the Singhania's agree to marry their son Kabir Singhania with Esha.
They were so influencing with their words that even the Singhania's couldn't deny the deal and agreed with this marriage settling it after a week which was today.
They had chosen Esha because she was a year older than Nyla and would be somewhat with the perfect age difference of 4 years with Kabir who is already 27.
"That is not happening." Mohit Sinha butted in with a hard look.
Him and Arvind were business partners while The Singhania's had a leading business of their own which certainly was in a way better position than theirs. This deal would no matter what benefit them a lot.
"Yes, it's not. I have found a solution for everything." Arvind agreed.
"Do whatever you please Arvind and Mohit. But what I know is that I won't return from this place in humiliation. I want everything to be corrected right now and my son will get married today only." Saurabh declared in a firm voice.
The tension in the atmosphere only kept increasing and it was getting difficult for each passing second even thinking about what all her father would do after this drama with her.
What if he bans her from studying further in college?
"It is already corrected Saurabh. Now because our dear Nyla had been influencing Esha with such thoughts, why don't she replace her in the wedding? She needs to compensate what she caused right." Arvind ended with a satisfying smile.
Nyla was shocked after hearing this would be an understatement. Her eyes turned wide as saucers as they moved towards her father who looked utterly serious about what he was saying.
In a frantic motion, she jumped off the couch, her mind running with various of thoughts and she wasn't able to comprehend what was happening.
"What?" Nyla shouted with wide eyes, her mouth dropping open as she couldn't believe anything that was happening.
"You heard everything Nyla. Now you'll be marrying Kabir after all you saved Esha as she always wanted." Arvind said.
She quickly glanced to the person she'd successfully ignored these past minutes only to see him normal as ever.
With his arms crossed over his chest, a cold look on his face and lips pressed in a thin line, this wasn't a new sight.
Nyla could only wonder why he isn't saying anything in this matter because she clearly remembers how much he tried to oppose the decision made by his father for him to get married to Esha.
He had shouted at them like anything that Nyla was scared seeing him. He looked like he could murder anyone.
From her side of wing, she could practically hear him yelling at everyone, specially his father who was putting him at stake to marry him off with Esha. His anger had made her this scared that after that day, she didn't bother even coming near to him, believing as if he would rip her into shreds.
Weird imagination she knows, but Kabir could do anything in anger.
"That is not happening Dad. I am just 22 and by no means I am interested in getting married to him." Nyla said with gritted teeth.
"We didn't ask you Nyla." Her father said with a menacing glare.
"You have to because you just can't take the most important decision of my life without my consent." She shouted.
"I don't care. All this has been caused by you and now you'll be compensating for everything. I don't care if you want this or not." Arvind said pointing towards her.
"You never cared." She said mockingly.
"Stop right there Dad. I won't let this happen to my doll. You can't just marry her to a guy like Kabir." This time it was Vansh's loud voice in the living room.
Everyone's gaze moved over Vansh. This guy had always been calm and composed, but right now he had anger visible on his face. His sister was his life.
"What do you mean by a guy like Kabir? He's the perfect groom we could find for our Nyla." Her Mom butted in.
"You know very well what I mean." Vansh said with a sarcastic smile.
Kabir had always been known for someone with a cold personality. From his childhood, he never spoke more than a word or two to anyone. Not even his parents. Some people wouldn't even consider him as normal as he would always be seen busy with his work not caring about anything.
And knowing this Vansh couldn't let his sister spend the rest of her life with a man like him. Someone who would never smile and someone who wouldn't even whow any emotion to the other half. He didn't want this for his little sister.
"It's better if you stay out of this Vansh. Otherwise you know the consequences as well." Arvind threatened his son and Vansh glared at him in return.
"Just think-" Vansh said, but was cut off.
"I said something, didn't I Vansh?" Arvind said with a glare.
"You have gone crazy. Business matters to you more than the happiness of your own daughter. You'll regret it one day Dad." Vansh said with a cold look and stormed out of the lobby.
"Naina, Shalini, go get Nyla ready. The wedding needs to happen in an hour after all." Mohit said and the two ladies immediately nodded.
"Wait!" Nyla shouted and made her way to the person she'd never thought she would speak to ever in her life.
"Please just tell them no Kabir. You know I won't be able to survive with you so, it's better this marriage doesn't happens. You haven't even spoke to me once all these years." Nyla said with a known look.
"And if you will reject this then I'll even forgive you that you crashed with me today. No matter I got pretty hurt due to it." She continued.
Kabir only looked at her with a straight face. His face displayed no emotion and neither did he open his mouth for once.
"What? Are you deaf or dumb? Why aren't you saying anything?" She shouted in frustration.
"I am ready Mr. Sinha and Mr. Rai. Meet me straight after the wedding with the papers." Kabir's cold voice was heard for the first time and the very next moment, he exited the place.
Nyla was stunned. She just couldn't believe Kabir accepted this decision.
"This is absolute nonsense. I am not agreeing to this and consider Esha's letter mine as well." With this she placed the letter on her father's hand exiting the place.
"I'll disown you Nyla. You won't be able to continue you college and you don't have a single rupee with you if you must know." Arvind threatened.
Nyla gritted her teeth hearing her father's statement.
Her college was a way big deal for her and if she didn't graduate this year, then there's no way she would get a nice job at any company that would create a path for her to get away from this Household.
"You know what? I am ready. I'll marry Kabir today itself, but you Mr. Arvind Rai is not my father from this point." She declared pointing her finger at Arvind.
"I-" Arvind started, but she cut him off.
"Didn't you hear me? You're not my father anymore. And Mrs. Nandini and Shalini Aunty, why don't you dress me up?" She asked turning towards her mother and Esha's mother.
Without waiting for anyone's response, she turned on her heels and straightaway made her way to her room in the east wing.
//////////
Everything was done. Her life was ruined. She was now married to Kabir Singhania.
"Congratulations Kabir Singhania." She whispered to the man sitting beside her who just looked at her with a straight face, his lips pressed in a thin line, barely showing any emotions which only hiked up her anger.
"Nyla, Kabir, here are the deal papers. You both need to sign on it." Arvind said forwarding a contract.
Kabir took them in his hands and had a thorough look at it just to see the if terms and conditions are correct or not. As he was about to sign it, a hand came in contact with his stopping him right there.
"You will not sign." Nyla said in a firm tone.
"Why?" Kabir's deep voice made shivers run down her spine.
This confidence was newfound to her.
"Because I said so. Mr. Arvind, sorry to say, but we cannot accept the deal. I don't think my husband will be beneficial by this." Nyla said with a smug smile directed towards the four members that were her and Esha's parents.
"What are you even saying Nyla? This marriage only happened because of this deal." Arvind glared at his daughter.
"I know Mr. Arvind. But now as I am Kabir's wife, I need to look for his benefit. And seeing that this is a deal with you, I don't think there will be any kind of benefit. So, I am cancelling the deal." Nyla replied with a smirk.
"What an ungrateful child-" Arvind was saying when a voice cut him off.
"Not a word anymore about my wife Mr. Arvind." Kabir's menacing glare made Arvind shut his mouth immediately with fear.
Everyone was scared of Kabir Singhania in this house and even in the world of business.
Here everyone's lips were pressed in a thin line, completely feared of the situation while Nyla had a smug smile on her lips. Oh, how amazing of a situation had come after a long time for her.
"Now, if you'll just excuse me." Saying this she got up from the chair she was sitting on.
"You wait right here!" Arvind shouted at his daughter.
"Didn't I tell you that you won't raise your voice at my wife?" Kabir glared at his father in-law.
"Kabir son, you know we agreed for the deal if-" Arvind started his influencing again when a voice cut him off.
"Please Mr. Arvind, why are you wasting your time with this buttering and influencing of yours? I will not sign on these papers at any cost and neither I'll let Kabir. You better find another way for your destructive deal." Nyla said and the very next moment she exited the place and straightaway went to the only place she feels calm with all the drama.
The terrace.
