❄︎
For the very first time, he cursed the size of his penthouse. Since he had locked it open for them to enter, she was nowhere to be found as she stormed off.
Thinking she would relax after some minutes, he decided to take a shower and relax himself as well.
But it had been more than 1 hour than she was nowhere to be seen.
He was about to enter the last room in the penthouse that was a guest one when a loud sniffle reached his ears.
It felt like someone was in the balcony that he doesn't really uses and without thinking much, he stepped in that revealed a curled up Kaeya on the ground who had a phone pressed on her ear, handa clutching it tightly.
"I- I can't. It's r-really hard..." She sobbed in the phone, rocking herself.
Her face had tears streaming down her face as her hands were wrapped around her legs that were touching her chest.
She looked exactly like she did on that day.
The day when he didn't help her.
That day he'd unintentionally become frozen to his surroundings.
But today he didn't hold himself back.
He instantly strode towards her, touching her back softly to indicate his presence. She flinched in response, her teary brown eyes meeting his helpless brown ones. They were filled with regret.
In panic, she tried to get away from him, but lost her balance because of her shivering hands and she let out a yelp between her cries.
"Bhai, t-tell him to go away. H-He is not listening- he-e-"
Her confident and cold self since years finally broke apart, shedding those tears that she promised she would never. This man, Yuvaan Shah always does things to her which she doesn't want to feel. And yet he creates such an impact on her heart with him few, inexpressible words.
She stopped her rambling as the person on the other hand started speaking.
And then all of a sudden she passed the phone to him which he slowly took.
"H-Hello?" He asked hesitantly.
"Yuvaan." He instantly recognized this voice as Aditya's.
"Yes?" He hummed.
"Just h-hug Kaeya. Try to make her relax. Make her feel your embrace and tell her to take deep breaths. She'll be fine." Came his voice from the other side and a wavered breath came out of Yuvaan's mouth.
Without wasting any second, he kept the phone aside as Aditya had instantly hung up after saying this, and forwarded his hand towards Kaeya who was looking everywhere except him.
"Kaykay, please." He tried to pull her closer who removed his hands harshly.
"No..." She muttered under her breath.
How dare he even call her Kaykay?
He had lost that right years ago.
"For the last time I promise. We won't even talk." He cajoled.
"Promise?" She asked with a skeptical look.
"I don't believe in your promises anymore. You broke each of the promises that we made to each other. Because of whom? That bitch, Miesha?" She spat.
Yuvaan clenched his fist in his lap, her words affecting him though he knew whatever he said was something he deserved.
"No wait, now don't slap me or something that I called Miesha a bitch. Where is she even hiding in your house? And dude, stop wasting your wedding night. Come on, call her and start your romance. Braid her hair, watch a movie, kiss like those horny teenagers and lie to me. I missed that. This literally happened for 6 months with me so I had gotten used to it and now I guess I am missing those time. Won't you do that for your wife, Yuvaan?" She asked with a sarcastic worried look on her face, a fake pout on her lips as she frowned.
"Kaeya, please stop. There's no one except the two of us here." He tried explaining in a calm voice.
"And there has never been Miesha for me since 9 years. Since the day you went away because that day was my realization for everything." He continued, this time not meeting her gaze.
Unknowingly, they'd gotten close, them sitting at a shoulder's gap from each other. Their gazes were settled ahead with a distant look, their mind filled of thousands of things that were pent up to be spoken that their eyes displayed very well.
The only thing Kaeya had in her mind was to make him experience those emotions and heartbreak she felt and where she didn't have to care in return just like he didn't in the period of 6 months.
And all Yuvaan wanted was to apologize, though knowing his explanation would never be enough of what he did and how much he'd disappointed her.
/////////
Good morning.
The employees in this building kept saying to Kaeya who could only nod her head back, her mind somewhere else.
This morning was anything but good for her.
She didn't expect herself to wake up on a plush king sized bed, beside Yuvaan who was sleeping with his mouth parted open and legs stretched as much as it was humanly impossible.
This might be the first time she'd gotten ready under 30 minutes, without making any sound just so he doesn't wake up. The last thing she wanted was to talk to him or face him as she clearly doesn't even remember when she slept.
Maybe it was Yuvaan who took her to bed.
But why? What's the need?
"Bitch, why are you so late?" Tanishq's fake angry voice reached her ears as she entered the medium sized office.
This 27 year old kid in a body of man was waiting for her in her own cabin!
"Not now Tanishq. You know why." Kaeya muttered, rubbing her temples with a sigh.
"What's even there to worry about darling?" Tanishq asked with raised eyebrows and he propped down on his elbows.
"And why do you think like this?" Kaeya asked with a sarcastic smile.
"Because I know it that this bastard is not someone who would affect this lioness of mine." Tanishq stated proudly making Kaeya roll her eyes.
"You didn't invite me in the first place anyways." Tanishq complained as she placed her bag on the desk.
"Dude, I literally went two days prior to the wedding date with no such preparation. It was like I did whatever I was told without uttering a word. I was hoping that the guy I am marrying should be this arrogant and rude type so I wouldn't have to talk to him or participate much in this marriage. But see, who I married? The greatest Yuvaan Shah." Kaeya scoffed dramatically.
Tanishq stuttered clearly not knowing how to respond or react in this situation. This woman was shocked only for a couple of seconds before it turned into anger.
An anger that is pent up inside of her since years.
"Our partner in the new project too." Tanishq butted in.
"Hell with this man. If it wasn't about the importance of this project in our business, I swear I would've thrown these papers on his face." Kaeya grumbled, shaking her head.
"Do that once it's completed. There won't be any problem then." Tanishq winked making Kaeya chuckle.
This man.
"Why is he doing this anyway? It's not like he must not be knowing about this company being mine. What will he exactly get?" Kaeya whispered, now with a distant look.
"Kaeya, ours is not a multinational company or top most one that everyone would know about it. And most people in the business industry don't even know who is the owner of our company. Maybe it's the same case with him?" Tanishq stated calmly.
Tanishq had a pitiful smile for his bestfriend. This woman had already gone through so much in her life that all she needed now was someone to shower immense love at her. She deserved to be treated as a princess, not to go through this drama each passing day.
"Kaeya, the thing which every businessman or businesswoman knows is he/she keeps the professional life and personal life separate. This contract might be for business reasons. Our company undoubtedly is doing so well, no matter we aren't making millions everyday. Maybe he liked our way and is impressed that's why decided to forward a contract." Tanishq continued reasoning calmly.
"But why me Tanishq? Wasn't breaking my heart enough?" Kaeya said, her voice cracking in the end.
"Tell me one thing honestly Kaeya. Did you ever confess about your feelings?" Tanishq asked in a serious mode.
Business would keep going but his priority was Kaeya at any point of time.
"How could I? When I had planned on doing, he told me about being in love with Miesha. And after that, everything changed Tanishq. Every single thing. I had been with him since childhood and suddenly when he's in a relationship, he completely forgot about me. M-Miesha's injury became more important than me having a panic attack? He took Miesha to our spot that he made me promise I would get no one to." Kaeya said with a sarcastic smile.
Crying?
She had left that years ago.
Those betrayers didn't deserve her precious tears.
"I don't care about Miesha. She wasn't even that important in my life but I won't forget to make sure that she loses everything in the span of 1 month. And the start will be from the business she shares with her husband. I was the one treated like shit in those 6 months because he got influenced by her? That's fucking absurd. I'll make sure that no one would even glance at that pice of shit, Miesha." Kaeya gritted out, full of anger.
Mess with Kaeya and she will treat you the way you deserve.
Maybe they'd done unforgivable sins with her in the past, it took her so much time and efforts to come past that.
9 years.
Making her mind believe things, calming her heart down wasn't easy with working through the university and then planning a startup with Tanishq.
It wasn't easy at all.
She didn't just have infatuation or attraction towards Yuvaan. She didn't love Yuvaan. She was in love with Yuvaan.
Those feelings weren't this simple or easy to be forgotten. They were genuine at some another level that he skillfully ignored or maybe pretended to.
"Miesha was undoubtedly one cunning woman, Kaeya. She influenced Yuvaan. He easily fell into her trap. It's his fault too. No, I am not taking Yuvaan's side before you say that. But Kaeya, teenage makes you take lot of rash and impulsive decisions. Don't you know how he used to get teased by the football mates on not having a girlfriend. Maybe he took Miesha's fake confession as a chance to stand himself out, doesn't matter if he even had feelings for her or not." Tanishq explained keeping a comforting hand on top of hers.
"But the most important thing was that he broke my promises Tanishq. How could he do that?" Kaeya asked with a disappointed expression.
"Then make him realize every single pain you felt. I don't know myself if you should give him a chance or not to even get closer to you again, but do make him realize what all you had gone through in whatever ways possible. You have me and you know that." Tanishq stated, almost ordering, making Kaeya nod her head like a child.
Her nose had as usual turned red due to controlling herself from crying and she blew out her nose on the tissue Tanishq passed her with a scrunched face.
His dramatics.
There was a knock on the door to her cabin to which she gave a positive response to enter.
And it was then Kaeya's eyes landed on him.
Yuvaan Shah.
Clad in a professional suit, his look completely different from the previous day, he was a sore sight to be missed.
His dark brown pools landed on her and him.
Tanishq had his one arm wrapped around Kaeya's waist as he was calming her down before she could get another breakdown while her head was placed on his chest, the tissue still in her hands that was using to wipe her nose. And the worst was Tanishq's other hand that was caressing her hair that paused seeing Yuvaan enter.
His jaw was now clenched seeing the two's closeness. He didn't expect Kaeya's company's half owner to be the Tanishq from their school!
And what was exactly going on here?
"Remove." Yuvaan gritted out.
He could bear anything but Kaeya in another man's arms.
He could feel his blood boil at the sight of Kaeya being close to a man that wasn't him.
"Huh?" Tanishq voiced out, clearly confused.
Kaeya didn't give any form of attention to him. She only tightened her hold on Tanishq who gave her a pat of comfort.
"Remove your hands from my wife. And I am saying that politely for now otherwise you will regret if you don't separate from her the very next moment." He continued with a harsh glare.
"And I will throw you out of my office if you'll say any other word to my bestfriend Yuvaan Shah. Why the fuck are you even here?" This time, Kaeya's voice boomed in her cabin as she separated from Tanishq, now facing Yuvaan.
Yuvaan was taken aback at her words.
Her bestfriend?
Tanishq?
When did this happen?
W-Wasn't this his spot?
"Kaeya-"
"Don't Kaeya me. Just tell me why you are here and get your ass out of my territory before I lose my calm." Kaeya hissed snapping her fingers in front of his face.
No doubt it was only Kaeya who could speak like this with Yuvaan. Because if it would have been any other person, he/she would be lying with a broken jaw apparently.
He was ready to face whatever Kaeya would say, do or challenge him with something. Because she has no idea what amount of guilt and regret he has for his past actions.
"I- I was here to talk about the project. Nothing else, I swear." Yuvaan tried to make her understand.
"Okay. Say whatever you want." Kaeya simply shrugged, moving back to her table.
"I guess it'll be better if we discuss it first-"
He was cut off by her.
"Not really. We both are owners so we both are gonna hear whatever you have to say." Kaeya said in a firm voice.
"Kaeya, I can't. I need to pick Trisha from school." Tanishq whispered in her ears in between.
Kaeya gave him a defeated look but she had no other option but to nod and soon he exited her cabin to which Yuvaan could only look at the two of them with confusion.
Kaeya might even looked more comfortable with Tanishq than he ever saw her, even when she was his bestfriend. Only his. And he too was only hers.
"Let's just start with it so we can get over it as soon as possible." Muttering this, Kaeya took her seat while he stood there with any movement.
//////////
A small sound was heard as the pen dropped from her shivering hands. Her lean figure bent down to pick that up, but as always her anxiety took over and her shivering hands couldn't possibly pick it up.
A rough and calloused hand appeared beside her slender and shivering one and he picked the pen, gesturing for her to calm down.
A sigh escaped her lips.
She was tired.
Tired of herself behaving like this in front of him.
Why does his helpless look and guilty expression makes everything churn inside of her?
The two were sitting on chairs kept right beside to each other, and as she pulled herself up a bit her brown eyes noticed his big figure that was shadowing hers.
Their closeness was hard to be missed.
His spicy cologne reached up her ears and for a second she forgot about everything, her mind only thinking that this man is her husband.
They were most at a two inch's gap. His minty breath was fanning against her face. A slight movement from either of them and their lips would be touching.
A wavered breath came out of his mouth as he tilted his face, inched closer making her breath hitch.
And then was her realization.
They were about to kiss.
Why would she even kiss the Yuvaan who had kissed Miesha, romancing her back then when Kaeya was waiting for him to arrive at their spot?
She was feeling disgusted with herself at the mere thought of this.
"Don't." She forced out, backing away from him in a flash.
"Kaeya-" He tried holding her hand but she jerked his away.
"Why are you trying to kiss me? To compare it what felt with Miesha? Wasn't that enough for you? Weren't her lips-"
Kaeya was back to taunt him when he cut her off.
"Enough Kaeya. I didn't kiss her. We never kissed." He gritted out.
And at this, Kaeya could only let out a sarcastic laugh, the fact of Yuvaan lying to her again piercing her fragile heart.
"Lies. All lies. I bloody heard you both making out. You even said you have something important to do and hung up on me the next moment." Kaeya hissed back, her eyes turning wide due to anger.
"I didn't kiss her. She was the one who took me by surprise as she placed her lips on mine without any consent or whatsoever. I had pushed her the next moment. I couldn't even comprehend what was happening yet I pushed her away because nothing felt right. And the only reason I hung up on you was because I had to talk to Miesha regarding the same. More like I had to rebuke at her."
A wavered breath came out of Kaeya's mouth at Yuvaan's explanation. Was he serious?
Her brown orbs pooling with tears met his dark brown ones who was looking at her ever so softly.
"This explanation won't change anything." She mumbled.
"But why Kaeya? I- I know it was my fault. Completely mine. Just don't play this silent game with me. I can bear everything but your silence. P-Please Kaeya." He pleaded helplessly, looking at her ever so softly.
"Give me one reason I should Yuvaan. You did everything that I didn't even expect you to do in my nightmares. Y-You'd left me all alone for that girl. Were you a 5 year old that got influenced? Hmm? Or was it that she was more pretty than me? Or that you were tired of my behaviour? Which one is it? Come on, let's just talk today." She urged him looking with an accusing gaze.
For a second he stilled hearing her words, his mouth parting open. But it was only a few moments later that he recovered by clearing his throat.
"Kaeya, you're the prettiest woman I have even known. You're beautiful inside and out and for me, appearance doesn't even matter. And if it does, then you're the most beautiful woman in this whole planet because my eyes always search for you, no one else." He rasped out breathing heavily.
Kaeya looked at him as if she didn't believe him. It wasn't easy for her at all.
"And the thing about me getting influenced, yes I did. I never loved Miesha. I took attraction as something else. And then the other things happening around didn't help either." He continued.
And Kaeya just shook her head with a sarcastic smile, a scoff coming out from the back of her throat.
When exactly was the realization?
And this realization wasn't only because Kaeya had left? If she would've continued living like a sidekick for Yuvaan, letting him treat her as a ball, he wouldn't have even realized this.
"Then why did you tell her this whole ass speech? And even mocked me with the same by practicing on me? You're one hell of a man Yuvaan." Kaeya butted in with a disappointed expression.
"Will you believe it if I will say that every single line was meant for you and I didn't even tell the speech to Miesha?" Yuvaan rasped out in a hoarse voice making Kaeya's heart skip a beat.
"I- I-" Kaeya stuttered not knowing how to respond.
He tucked a strand of her hair that had fallen out of her ponytail, his one hand cupping her cheeks.
Slowly slowly, their lips neared to each other and just as he was about to place his' on her plump and beautiful ones, a loud stinging sound was heard in the room.
The vibration of the loud and hard slap reached his ears, a red handprint forming on his cheek on which he placed his own hand due to shock, his mouth dropped open due to the intensity of her slap.
Her hand was even paining like anything but it was nothing compared to what he was feeling. The impact of her slap directly reached his heart. It pained like anything.
"Wanted to do this since so long. And think twice before doing any such action specially in my context. Because next time, the slap will be twice as hard as this fucking time." Gritting this out with a fierce gaze, Kaeya stormed off her cabin, shutting the door with a pain.
And it was again tears clouding in Yuvaan's vision.
