❄︎
Laying on the bed, her eyes having a distant look in them, face void of any emotions, she just felt blank from everywhere.
5 months had passed since that day.
She missed him.
There was no doubt in that.
She missed their moments when they would play xbox. Or when he would tickle her mercilessly or when he would make fun of her.
She missed when she would cry on his shoulder because of the daily drama in her house and he would soothe her that everything will be fine once they'll grow up.
And she badly missed how he would give all of his time to her. Only her.
He had simply pleaded her to forgive him on the next day of school that he would never do anything like this in future and will try to maintain a balance.
But who was he even lying to?
Did he do that in 5 months? No, right? But Kaeya didn't even say anything in this matter. She'd had enough of going back to him everytime and looking so desperate, like Miesha had texted her.
"Kaeya! Come down right now!" A loud yell reached up her making her internally groan.
She thought she was done for the day?
But guess what, they would never have enough of making her feel helpless.
Not bothering to look at her herself in the mirror or changing her clothes, she quickly dashed down the stairs, practically tripping once or twice in between due to her being in a haste.
She was panting when she finally took the last stair, now dashing towards the lounge from where she knew her aunt must've called out to her.
"What do you think you were doing locked up in that room? Did I tell you that you were done for the day?" Her Aunt, Aishwarya glared at her.
"But, I did help you with the dinner." Kaeya mumbled, lowering her head down.
"What an ungrateful brat you are. Here we are helping an orphan like you and look at you. Don't you have any respect towards us that we have been taking care of you since childhood, and even providing you with everything?" Aishwarya yelled, getting up from the couch, all hyped up with anger.
Orphan.
"I- I am s-sorry." Kaeya mumbled in response like usual.
What was her fault that her parents had died in an accident when she was just 2 years old, leaving her all alone in the custody of her father's elder brother and his wife?
The only reason they took her in their family was because of the wealth her parents had left for her. She would get that once she would turn 21 and they made sure of it that they would force her to name all of it on them.
All they had been doing since years was making her cry, abuse her mentally with their words and treat her like some maid of the house.
That's why, the place she felt peace at was Yuvaan's house, now where she hadn't even been to since 5 months.
His mother questioned her. But it didn't take her long to make up a false reason like she did the whole time to Yuvraj too.
No one decided to mend amongst the two bestfriends thinking they might be having some personal and childish issues between them.
"You better be. Now my son is back after such a hectic day from office. He's freshening up right now and before he arrives, make something special for him to eat." Aishwarya ordered like she had been doing since forever.
"Okay." Simply mumbling this, Kaeya walked towards the massive kitchen of this house and began to do the preparations of Aditya's dinner.
Humming a soothing melody, she was busy sauteing the vegetables, an amazing aroma coming out of the pan when a hand slid up her shoulder, pulling her away from the countertop.
Her eyes widened and soon it was that she was engulfed in a hug, and she realized his natural scent, now hugging him back, taking in as much as homely feeling she could.
"What's up little sis? What are you making for your bro, today?" Aditya Aggarwal grinned at his cousin Kaeya who he didn't take less than a real one.
"Umm- I am good. Today it's your special pasta." She responded with a smile.
"But how many times do I have to tell you to stop doing all this. You need to study, not be doing these chores." He frowned slightly.
How would she tell him that she was practically being forced to? She didn't do that for the 18 years of her life and she doesn't think that she would be able to anytime soon. His parents were basically God for him who did whatever he wanted, according to his benefit. Only his.
"But I love cooking na. How was your day?" She asked.
"It was good. There are almost 95% chances that I'll be the one getting selected for Boston transfer. I always wanted to settle in the US and start a family there." He responded with a dreamy look.
This 27 year old man had even worked hard for that.
But that's when she realized that if he shifts to Boston, there was basically no support system left for her even if he didn't know the reality, but still was no less than a pillar for her.
Yuvraaj would go back to his college and Yuvaan was now not an option.
"Wow bro. You deserve this and I am sure you will get it too." Kaeya grinned, taking out the white sauce pasta in a ceramic plate and forwarded it to him who in an instant took a bite, now complementing her for the amazing taste.
"Go and sleep kiddo. You have school tomorrow." He suggested while sighing a little, back to an elder mode for her.
"Okay. Good night." She waved as she walked towards the staircase, letting out a yawn.
"Good night." He sighed, looking back at her retreating figure.
Sometimes, he would think that there are many things she is hiding. But then, he would believe that it must be the thought of losing her parents so young or maybe that her teenage is creating problems. What he didn't know was she definitely was hiding some big things from him.
//////////
Flashback:
The two bestfriends were walking side by side, kicking, slapping and punching each other as they kept teasing each other, banter on small topics every now and then.
She was wearing a cute romper, baby blue and white in color that reached mid of her thighs, pairing with white sneakers. While on the other hand, he was wearing a simple navy blue tee and black skin tight jeans with black trainers.
They were walking back from their visit to their spot, like usual as they would prefer every twice or thrice in a week.
And all of a sudden, a loud whistle reached their ears making them halt into their steps.
The usual loafers of every colony, the two-three free ass boys were giving dirty looks to Kaeya who had clutched onto Yuvaan's arms.
She wasn't really comfortable with men except Yuvaan and her Yuvraj bhai.
"What a beauty like you is doing with a boy like him? Come with us and I am sure we'll make you feel a lot better. In every way." One of them husked out disgustingly making Yuvaan glare at him.
And the very next moment, a punch was landed on his jaw that made him fall on the road.
Yuvaan had punched him.
His anger was bad. Specially when it was related to Kaeya.
"How bloody dare you say that? I'll kill you if I hear you say this nonsense about her or any other girl like this. And even if I find you looking with that filthy gaze of yours at her again, just forget about what it feels to have hands and legs because I will surely break them."
He gritted out, anger pouring at each word as the loafer boy cowardly nodded his head seeing the force of Yuvaan's punch.
Boxing classes in childhood definitely helped.
"Say sorry to her right now." He gritted out.
"S-Sorry-" The boy let out, pain evident in his voice.
"If I see you all roaming anywhere near our colony, I'll get you there locked up in a cell immediately." Yuvaan threatened, taking the collar of his hand in his fist.
"Y-Yes..sorry." With that, the three of them scurried away not before giving Kaeya an apologetic look.
They were just having 'fun' according to them, but definitely realized that this isn't something to be messed up. Molesting is a big crime.
And for Kaeya, she was glad that she had Yuvaan. She doesn't know how she would have handled if it wasn't him.
"Thank you." She muttered lowly when they were back to walking to their houses.
"Shut up Kaeya. This is my responsibility and I will never back out from this. You're my bestfriend and I won't let anyone do anything to you, ever." He mumbled back making a small blush appear on her cheeks as she shyly smiled.
One big reason why she fell in love with him.
Flashback ends.
//////////
Betrayal happens. Deceit happens. People get you disappointed and sometimes the situation are something where you cannot even do anything to save it. The same it was with Kaeya.
She couldn't do anything in the context of her bestfriend distancing himself from her.
She could not even say anything to him. So, she just get along with it. There wasn't any other option too.
As 5 months had passed since that day, she only fell apart with everything. And the most of it included her bestfriend.
She wouldn't lie, but she has even forgotten how it was like to have Yuvaan in her life. After all, it was only once in a week that they met and talk properly. Other times, she was all alone.
Walking in the slowest of pace, her legs practically jamming at points just because she didn't want to move an inch ahead because of the feelings from inside, there was a sad look evident that was so hard to be missed.
She wanted someone to make her believe that everything is fine and everything will get better sooner or later, but there was no one.
The only person who knew what all is going in her life or what all she feels was Yuvaan who seemed like he had completely betrayed his bestfriend. He didn't even once ask about her well being or if some new problems had arised in her house.
Why was he doing this? What's even Kaeya's fault that she had no one? Wasn't he the one saying that he will always be with her and support her when no one will?
"Hey Kaeya. What's up?" A voice reached up her ears making her halt in her steps.
There, her new friend Tanishq was standing looking at her with a smile that made her smile back.
"Hey Tanishq. I am good." She responded.
Lies. All lies.
She's anything but good right now.
"So, should we go to the game? We're already kind of late and I need to be present there before it starts." He suggested, gesturing with his eyebrows towards the school ground.
Today was the football match of their school team with another school in the ground. Tanishq was one guy who was in the team and played quite well. But there was one big reason why Kaeya didn't want to go and witness that. It was Yuvaan.
He was the captain of the football team and gone were the times when she would cheer for him throughout the game, wipe his sweat in break or pass him the water bottles.
"I don't think-"
"Come on Kaeya. I thought I will finally have someone to cheer for me but-"
"Okay okay. I am coming. Don't start the drama now." Kaeya playfully hit his shoulder making him let out a free laugh.
"Let's go then." He muttered leading her towards the football ground.
//////////
Loud cheers, screams and laughter was heard since the moment the game had started. Today's weather was perfect for the game. Not so sunny and neither it seemed as if it would rain anytime soon.
She was sitting in the middle of the bleachers, and around her were the students she didn't even properly know. Most probably she had seen them in the corridor of school once or twice.
The first row on the bleacher, from where the game could be seen was usually occupied by the team members supporter or close friends. Kaeya knew that because she had been sitting there since years, not Miesha who was blowing her nails, a bored as ever look on her face.
She didn't look even 1% interested in whatever was going on and neither she seemed to cheer for Yuvaan who was currently tackling the ball.
And on what basis should've Kaeya even gone there to sit? She was practically not even close to Yuvaan now.
A loud whistle was heard, indicating the time out in between. The players walked towards their team's bleachers, to relax themselves.
Yuvaan's eyes were searching for a particular someone in the many students and finally his dark brown orbs landed on Kaeya who was looking at him with pain filled eyes. But it seemed as if he didn't notice or maybe he ignored.
'Water.'
He gestured at her tiredly while mouthing and she stilled for a moment, now getting up slowly.
And before they could near to each other, Miesha had appeared beside Yuvaan, handing him a water bottle and towel, and forcefully leading him back to the first row.
Their eyes were still connected to each others. Kaeya didn't back out from showing her emotions. Her eyes held a lot of feelings and emotions that were pent up since months while his face was void. Completely blank.
All of a sudden she felt a tap on her shoulder making her look back sideways. It was Tanishq who was grinning at her tiredly.
"Mine is empty. Would you mind sharing yours?" He asked, waving his water bottle in front of her face.
"Of course. Here." Kaeya smiled, handing out hers to him who gratefully took it.
"You play really well Tanishq." Not better than Yuvaan though. She complimented him in between her thoughts.
"Wow, thanks." He grinned with a slight blush making Kaeya laugh internally.
No doubt Tanishq was one of the very few boys in her school who had a good heart and behaved well. He made efforts to talk to her when she felt completely broken and she knew she would always be thankful to him for doing this.
Again a whistle was heard indicating the end of time out. Giving Kaeya a known look, Tanishq ran back to the field. She didn't miss how Yuvaan had glanced at her, only if it was for a second.
But this time, it was Kaeya who removed her gaze from him.
//////////
Since she was all alone, her innocent light brown were searching for Tanishq who still hadn't returned from despite the end of game. She was waiting for him only because he had told her to.
Loud cheers and screams were heard as she walked randomly in the corner of the ground because of the senior boys that were in the team or others who were their friends.
And before she could enter the storage room in the very corner, a hand held her wrist and this caused her petite frame to twist around, now crashing into someone's chest.
Her eyes painfully shut due to sudden shock and she slowly opened them, recovering from it and now forcefully taking two steps back.
Her eyes met with a pair of same colored eyes, a face new to her that was giving a disgusting smile.
"Excuse me." She politely said, but as she was about to walk away, he again held her wrist in a painful grip.
"What the hell dude? Stop touching me." She gritted out while glaring at him.
The boy looked like a football player from another school with his uniform. There was a mocking smirk on his face that made her shiver due to disgust.
Fear crawled through her system as he took a step front.
"Step back. Don't come forward." She showed the most amount of the courage she had left. Because if being honest, after this she knew won't be able to fight anymore.
"You look really good." He said in a whisper as Kaeya stumbled back. There was no space to go anywere. There was a wall behind her.
The other guy also came and hovered over her, now taking some of her hair and placed it behind her ears. Kaeya squatted his hands, sinking back into the wall hoping it to open up and take her inside saving her from the monsters in front of her.
"Lo-Look I wil-will shout. Stay there and don't y-you d-dare come near me." She stuttered, tears starting to fall from her pretty eyes.
"What is happening here?" Suddenly relief washed over her face as she looked at the person.
She released a breath of relief seeing Yuvaan standing there. He was looking at the scene with a frown on his forehead, mainly his eyes focusing on his bestfriend who had tears streaming down her face, eyes red due to fear.
"Y-Yuvaan p-please save m-me. Thank god you came. He was trying to t-touch me." She looked at him while words barely came out of her mouth.
"What the hell? Dude, leave her the fuck now." Yuvaan glared at them.
The two boys still hadn't backed out.
Her eyes were pleading to Yuvaan to come towards her to the soonest and as he was about to take steps towards the boys with a raging look on his face, fish clenched with anger, a high pitched scream came out of nowhere stopping him dead in his tracks.
It was Miesha.
She was sitting on the ground, more like as if she had just fell. A painful look was on her face as she was massaging her ankle or more like rubbing her without even touching properly.
Lies.
She was faking it.
It was evident.
"Ahhhh Yuvaan-" She screamed with fake tears running down her face.
Giving her one last look, Yuvaan again turned towards Kaeya who looked like she would faint anytime soon. But before he could come closer, Tanishq had appeared, now throwing the two guys who were bending over Kaeya, now repeatedly punching them.
His other teammates had joined him for beating the two boys from opposite team as they always had a good bond with Kaeya and for them, molesting a girl was a big crime. They had always been taught this thing.
Helpless tears were running down Kaeya's cheeks as she sobbed uncontrollably, rocking her body as she has the habit of.
Her frame was shivering at what she experienced moments ago wnd starting from now, the flashbacks of them manhandling her appeared in front of her eyes.
Her hands didn't once bother to wipe her tears nor she tried to control them. They just kept falling miserably.
"Yuvaan...." She barely whispered, looking at his frozen form shakingly.
"Yuvaan!" It was Miesha's frustrated whine.
And Kaeya's heart broke into a million pieces. This time it was like that she didn't even feel anything. She became numb. This time she felt like she'd completely lost everything in her life.
Instead of helping or consoling Kaeya, it was Miesha to whom Yuvaan walked towards and began checking her fake injury.
"Kaeya-"
And leaving Miesha just after having one look at her so called injury, Yuvaan was about to go towards Kaeya when she frantically got up from the ground.
Kaeya's teary eyes met Miesha's smug look and it was all it took for Kaeya to run towards the entrance of the school, her ears turning deaf to Yuvaan's shouts and that this might be the first time she'd run this fast, that even Yuvaan couldn't catch up with her.
It was deserted. Everything was deserted or it was something she felt. She could barely see anything. All that was in front of her eyes was haze.
She kept running. Running till she didn't reach her home. Her shivering hands found it difficult to open the door and her numb legs found it difficult for her to continue walking. But she didn't stop.
Her mind wasn't processing anything. She was more than blank.
Her eyes met her Aunt, Aishwarya who was happily watching the daily soap and she landed right beside her form, who gave her a glare.
"Kaeya-"
And upon noticing her niece's teary face and shivering form, her eyes softened and maybe this was the first time in 16 years that she had been living in their house, Aishwarya gave Kaeya a motherly hug, letting her cry her guts out.
She kept sobbing uncontrollably while Aishwarya kept lulling her like a mother does to her baby.
And one thing Kaeya had realized today was that she had definitely lost the one thing that was remaining in her life. Her support system. Her bestfriend. Her Yuvaan. The one who she loves. The one who had broken her completely, maybe beyond repair.
