Flashback:
Veer- 6 year old.
Shreya- 5 year old.
"Give me my doll back!" Shreya screamed in her adorable voice.
"No! She's ugly." Veer scrunched up his face in disgust.
"You're ugly." She yelled.
"What did you just say?" He shouted coming directly in front of her.
What was the two children's fault that they had to spend their vacations together at the Shekhawat's farmhouse because of family relations?
When they didn't get well along with each other, then why does their parents keep saying it's their childishness?
Why can't Vivek and Chhaya see how much Veer makes fun of the adorable Shreya and troubles her and why can't Ashish and Swati see how much Shreya hits and bullies Veer?
They just keep saying there will a time come when these two will never leave each other's side. But what they didn't know was that this would take a lot many years than what they'd expected.
"I said you're ugly." She screamed, slapping his head.
"You're such a bully." He hissed pulling her small pigtails to which Shreya let out a shriek.
"I hate you." She cried, running back inside the farmhouse from the threshold they were not so playing in.
"I hate you too." He shouted back, rubbing the place where Shreya had just slapped him forcefully.
//////////
Veer- 14 year old.
Shreya- 13 year old.
"Why is he at my birthday party?" Shreya glared at Veer who mirrored the same expression.
"Shreya, behave. Now because none of your friends know Veer, you've to take care of him the whole time." Chhaya, her mother said.
"Whatever." She huffed unbothered and left him alone, back to the place where her friends were enjoying.
And half n hour later the situation was totally opposite. Veer was busy talking to her friends and even her close ones like they are some long lost friends and Shreya was sitting far away with a clenched jaw.
How dare he ruin my birthday party? Was the thought running in mind.
"Shreya! Veer's even funnier than you."
"Yeah! Such a better company."
"Shreya should always tag him along with her so that we can have some fun."
Her friends were saying to which Veer gave Shreya a big smirk and she glared at her fate making a mental note to change her friends right after the party.
And the one thing she never forget was how Veer had ruined her special birthday party where she'd just turned a teen.
//////////
Veer- 18 years old.
Shreya- 17 years old.
"Well, well, well. Who do we have here?" A voice mocked and Shreya immediately stiffened where she was walking down the corridor of her school.
She turned back only to see a group of bullies. Or to be precise, Veer's best buddies.
Taking a deep breath, she turned back to continue walking, but before she could escape them, a hand stopped her in between.
"Running away like a coward? Veer says the correct things about you." Veer's bestfriend, Udit mocked twirling the strand of her hair.
"D-Don't touch me." She gained the courage to say.
"Well okay. If this is what the princess wants." Some other friend of his stated and she released a breath of relief.
"Thanks." And her happiness didn't last long as loads of black ink was splashed on her clothes and all she could do was stare at them shockingly.
And what made her feel immense anger was Veer Shekhawat, who was standing in a corner observing everything. For what he didn't even stopped his so called friends once.
His face was no void of emotion as he was busy looking at the scene intently. And that's when she knew his so called friends were more important for him than the person he knows since his diaper days.
Veer, someone who her parents had him made vow to take care of her at any cost didn't stepped in when she needed and that's when she knew she had to be strong herself. She knew she didn't have anyone and she needed to protect herself.
Herself from her enemy. A person she thinks she loathes.
Flashback ends.
//////////
"Mom, I don't think that's a good idea. Veer is still on his business trip so it's not possible for me to attend the wedding alone that too in a different city." Shreya said while walking out of the parking lot where she'd just parked her car.
"You're right Shreya. You shouldn't take risks. And by the way, when is Veer returning?" Her mother in-law, Swati asked while she was pressing the button of the elevator to his penthouse.
"I-I don't know. He didn't pick up my phone the last time I'd call him." She lied at the last part.
In fact the truth the she hadn't utter a word to him since they were back from the visit to gynecologist. And when Veer was trying to tell her the big truth, an important business trip had arrived which he couldn't skip at any cost.
Even if he would've been with her, she was planning to ignore him. What she'd heard was something miserable. Specially not something which a pregnant woman would want to hear.
"Oh, okay. Anyways, your first trimester is about to end in a week and you know everything will be good. Just enjoy this time." Swati said and Shreya's heart clenched.
The only thing she was feeling was pain. Constant troubles which she never expected.
Where she was planning to enjoy her pregnancy period, all she did was to cry.
"Bye, Mom. I'll talk to you later." She sighed hanging up the phone.
As she let herself in Veer's penthouse where they'd shifted after their marriage using the extra key he had given her, the sight in front of her was shocking, her mouth dropped open making it way visible.
Veer was in there.
And he wasn't alone.
Neha was sitting beside him.
Another person who she hates.
"Veer sir, it has been more than a month since you've fired me. I haven't got any other job since then. I am the only bread earner in my family so please give me my job back." Crocodile tears were falling out of Neha's eyes while she was pleading to Veer.
She was sitting close too Veer. So close that even her right hand was now rested on top of Veer's shoulder.
And in return,Veer shifted away from her on the couch at a good distance, now taking a deep breath before speaking.
"I am sorry Neha, but I can't do that. It's not possible." He sighed, running a hand through his messy, bed hair.
Neha gritted her teeth in return, highly angered as her plan not working.
"Why isn't it possible? Because that bitch of a girl Shreya has told you? Who is she to you? She's just the daughter of your business partner and you're following her orders. She's nothing, but a jealous bitch-"
"I dare you to complete that sentence and then see what all I am going to do with you then." He roared getting up from the couch he was sitting on.
His eyes had turned red due to the anger while he was pointing a warning finger towards her, easily towering her sitting self.
"She's my wife and I'll do everything she says or wants." He continued yelling and Shreya felt as if her heart had skipped a beat.
"Wife? But- how-? You know right I love you? You know that I always wanted to be your girl? And look what I just heard. That bloody slut is-" Neha couldn't complete her sentence as Veer had gripped her jaw tightly by his right hand.
"Say it. Say it again and you won't be alive anymore." He roared and Shreya felt scared at this particular sight of him.
The way they fight with each other is very different than this. It mostly includes them showering high standard profanities on each other with two, three futile attempts of punches and slaps. Those times, his eyes aren't red. Sure he looks angry, but today it was of another level.
And because of this, the only thought running in her mind was what if something happens to this girl due to which Veer could be in trouble?
"Veer!" She shouted, walking towards him and directly stood beside his angry figure.
And it was after so long that he'd heard his name coming out of her mouth, but he was more focused teaching a lesson to his ex-secretary, Neha.
"Veer, what the hell are you doing? You're going to kill her! Look she's having problem-" Shreya couldn't complete her sentence as Neha had thrown the photo frame kept on the coffee table directly towards Shreya.
And the sharp corner of the photo frame slithered directly beside her left eye, making Shreya cry out in immense pain and shock.
"Shreya!" Veer shouted while pushing Neha away and embraced Shreya in his arms who clutched onto him on her dear life.
She was now on his full support, balancing on his arms as it was another level of shock for her to witness such a thing in this state.
"Ahhh- Veer." She said panicked at the thought of her eyes getting bruised and any trouble caused to her baby.
"Breathe Shreya. Relax. Look, nothing has happened. You're absolutely fine." He pacified patting her cheek while he cradled her crying form like a baby.
"Veer-"
"Don't." He shushed placing a finger on her lips which made her seal her mouth.
Lifting her in his arms, he marched towards the direction of their open kitchen, where on the way his furious eyes met Neha's on the way where she was busy checking for injuries on her jaw which Veer had gripped onto.
Still she didn't have a look of guilt or nervousness as all she was doing was boring holes on Shreya's head because what she'd been expecting since years was her boss, Veer Shekhawat to notice her and love her back, but all she came to know was that he was now married.
Placing Shreya's sobbing form on the kitchen counter, he bent down to the level of the drawer for taking out the first aid kid he knew was kept there.
For him, checking and taking care of Shreya was more important than anything by now. Even more than making Neha's life a living hell. He didn't know or realize when that had happened, but he was glad it did. For the first time in his life he experienced a different kind of emotions and feelings.
"You bitch! I am going to kill you. How dare you even come near my man-"
While saying this Neha was walking towards Shreya and Veer who was busy consoling her.
"Shut up! Shut the f*ck up!" He yelled cutting off Neha who was marching towards them in the kitchen.
"How dare you hit my wife? How dare you insult her and most importantly how dare you even question her about anything?" He roared, pointing a finger towards her accusingly.
By now he had forgotten the fact he was talking to a woman because of his rage. What she had just caused was not acceptable, doesn't matter if she's a woman.
"I am going to make you pay for everything. And dare you come anywhere near my wife. Go and hide away anywhere, but remember I am sending a whole police team behind you. Let me also see who is going to save you now." He roared coming towards her.
Taking her wrist in a bruising grip, he lead her towards the door of his penthouse while Neha was busy pleading to him and then the very next moment, he threw her out of and without glancing at her once, he banged the door close, now running a hand all over his face frustratedly.
//////////
"Shreya." Veer called out softly to her who was weeping sitting on the kitchen countertop.
She shook her head frantically listening to him and Veer let out a deep sigh.
Her weakness was way visible. And Veer could clearly see how fragile she was.
"Come here." He called out softly, opening his arms for her and she shook her head making him sigh again.
She thought she'd heard everything at the time of their doctor's appointment when it wasn't true and Veer had zero idea about it.
And that's why she was angry. Angry like anything.
"You're so bad." She sobbed, hitting his chest with her small fists.
"How am I still bad? Didn't I fire Neha? Didn't I thow her out of our house?" He asked desperately.
"No!" She cried, this time clutching onto his shirt.
"Please tell me you won't do that. That you won't even ask me to do it." She sobbed placing her head on his chest while his shirt being crushed in her fists.
They were standing too close. He could see her beautiful brown eyes glistening with tears that were running down on her cheeks as her brown locks made it dificult for him to see her face completely.
"Relax Shreya. See, she isn't here. I'll take police orders for her to stay away from us." He pacified embracing her in a hug, not understanding the real meaning behind her words.
And she just shook her head in response as if trying to say her words aren't directed towards Neha. But in all this mess, Veer couldn't understand a single thing going on in their lives.
"Please Veer." She whispered helplessly, placing her head in the crook of his neck where she could only find warmth which she never expected.
"Here. Let's take care of your wound first." He said gently, lifting her head from his neck where he could clearly feel her flowing tears and even some drool.
But did he feel disgusted?
Unexpectedly no. He didn't.
Her hands were still clutching his shirt in a tight grip and he was busy clearly the small amount of blood from right beside her eye.
Not once any sound came out of her mouth as she was busy gazing at him pleadingly with great intensity in her eyes.
"Done. Is it painful?" He asked lowly, smothering her cheeks with the pad of his thumb.
And she didn't bother responding making him sigh. All she was doing is looking at him with glistening eyes.
"Shreya." He breathed out in an almost inaudible whisper.
"What is going on? Did something happen? Are you not feeling well? Is pregnancy causing troubles?" He showered the questions upon her.
Their forehead were touching each other's and their cheeks basically crushing onto each other's with Veer cupping Shreya's cheeks. One of not so many the times they've been the closest.
"I won't let you do that Veer." She said, with quivering lips.
And the thought running in Veer's mind was when she's so broken about what happened due to that girl, Neha, then how will she even react after knowing her pregnancy's truth?
And what he didn't know was that what he was busy thinking the whole time about this situation wasn't what she meant to talk about.
"I'll do anything you'll say Veer, but don't make me do that." She whispered helplessly.
"Why did you have to do this when I finally realized my feelings? Why did you have to even say this when I have started-"
And she couldn't complete her sentence as Veer had crashed his lips upon her in a feverish kiss.
Tears were flowing out of Shreya's eyes because of pain and anger and out of Veer's because of helplessness and anger about the situation.
"Don't cry. Don't you worry about anything Shreya. It's causing pain to you, isn't it? Why don't you understand that I cannot bear to see you in pain? And why don't you understand that I would do anything to remove all the pain?" He breathed out.
"I will go through every pain!" She shouted in desperation.
"No! You won't go through any pain. I won't let that happen at any cost." He shouted back.
"Why do you care about me? You should be happy that you'll get your child to yourself and will even free yourself from me. You'll be free from me Veer. Free!" She said pointing a finger towards her at every sentence.
"I don't want to free! I don't want to be free of you at any cost!" He yelled with raging eyes.
"It's your child-"
"It is our child! And for that I won't let you go through any trouble or pain. For you, your child might be important, but for me my wife is. My wife is above everything and I'll do everything possible to save her." He cut her off.
"So you'll abort your baby for it?" She asked lowly, mental pain flowing throughout her body.
So she'd heard, Veer thought bitterly in his mind.
"Because there's no other option. Didn't you hear what the doctor before that?" He asked lifting her chin up and she didn't respond.
She didn't know what to respond.
"Let me tell you then. The doctor said there are major complications in the pregnancy. Such complications which'll lead to a situation where no one will survive if we don't take a step at the right time." He said with difficulty.
"B-But-"
She stuttered helplessly at the revelation and Veer cut her off right there.
"And you say why I care for you? I started caring about you the moment you told me about being pregnant with my child. Maybe it was the magical reason of having a connection to you because of it, but I did and I don't regret it. And when that care started turning into something more, something deep, something blissful, you say you will do anything to save our child? Even if it means giving up your own life!" He shouted in desperation.
His arms reached out to pull her to himself, but when she retreated herself back, Veer forcefully made her sit right in front of him so he could now clearly see her teary and helpless face.
"What do you want me to do then? You want that I save my life on the cost of my child's?" She yelled.
"Shreya, why don't you understand that the child won't be able to survive anyways. And what am I going to do when I'll have to come across same situation ahead all alone? Choosing between my wife and child at such a depressing moment?" He asked in desperation.
"And what if I am left alone after all of this? Do you think I'll be able to survive?" He continued falling to the support of kitchen countertop where she was sitting on.
"You will! You will be free from me-"
"I don't want to be free of you! Why don't you understand godammit?" He said clutching her forearm in a tight grip.
"Why?" She gained the courage to ask.
"Because I love you. I love you Shreya Veer Shekhawat. I am madly, crazily in love with you. And for me, you're the most important person for whom I can do anything. Anything." He said cupping her jaw with his one hand while the other went to wrap around her waist.
"V-Veer-"
She looked at him shocked with her mouth dropped open while he shut his eyes tightly as if he was bearing immense pain from the insides.
He loves her? He loves the girl he calls bitch? He loves the girl he days ago said he hates? He loves the girl he got pregnant due to a drunken night?
"Don't Shreya. I don't want to talk about this topic anymore right now." He pleaded looking at her eyes which were overflowing with fresh tears.
"I- I-"
She stammered badly, not knowing how to respond to his sudden revelation.
"You want to say something else?" He asked softly who nodded her head in agreement, happy about the fact he understood her.
"I- I feel so much pain whenever I even think about getting separated from you by any means. The whole time, this thought about the abortion was killing me Veer. I don't know why this happens, but it just does. I don't know when I started to feel about you, but I just did." She finally said and a broken smile reached up on Veer's face.
"Then don't think about leaving me Shreya. I cannot bear the the thought of you leaving me. I want the annoying Shreya with me my whole lifetime."
While saying this, he climbed on the countertop to sit beside her in a way their bodies were completely touching.
It made Shreya feel butterflies in the pit of her stomach.
"Veer, why did this happen with us then? Why can't we live our life normally, like other people? Why do we have to go through this?" She asked, climbing on his lap, looking at him with her big, doe-like eyes.
"Carefully Shreya. You shouldn't-"
"I don't care about that for now." She cut him off and Veer looked at her with his mouth agape.
"Shreya-"
"No! We'll go through this together. We'll look through every option and then we'll choose the best one for us." She said being the mature one after so long and Veer gave her a soft smile in return.
She's understanding the situation. There's nothing better than this for him at this point.
