"You."
"No. You are."
"No! You are."
"You."
"Not me. You."
"You."
"Not again! It'll be you."
"You."
"You f*cking bastard will die with my bare hands today." She whisper yelled, clutching his strong arm in her hands.
"Oww! You weirdo. Don't touch me again with those claws of your nails." He hissed rubbing his arm.
"Will you stop being so dramatic? You're literally going to be a father in 9 months." She deadpanned.
"Which I never intended to in the first place." He scoffed, shrugging normal as ever.
"I didn't too, you idiot. I hate you." Saying this she stormed out of the corridor they were busy standing in.
"The feeling is mutual!" He didn't forget to shout back.
The Aggarwal family and Shekhawat family were family friends. Vivek Aggarwal, Shreya's father and Ashish Shekhawat were the best of friends since their childhood days resulting in their wives, Chhaya Aggarwal and Swati Shekhawat respectively, being bestfriends as well. This was the level of bond between the two families.
There wasn't a function or event which was complete without each other's presence. And them being business partners didn't help either.
They were basically two peas in a pod.
And then it was Shreya and Veer with a total opposite case going on between them.
They were archnemies.
Reasons?
A lot of them actually.
Today was their family dinner like every last day of the month which Shreya and Veer had been skillfully avoiding since years. They couldn't remain in a single piece if they were to be left alone together for more than an hour.
Physical fights were very common between Veer and Shreya and they were on the same level of it despite of the fact them being of different genders.
But today, after a lot of verbal fight and four-five slaps to each other in the office at morning, they'd finally decided to attend the dinner and it was shocking as hell for the family.
Telling them about the 'unfortunate' news to their parents now only was the better option according to them, rather than delaying.
And now it had resulted in another fight between them about who is going to drop down the news on their parents.
Veer was adamant on Shreya doing the same and Shreya wanted Veer to do it.
"Children, the dinner is all set. Come and take your seats." Swati called out and eventually everyone was seated on the dining table.
Vivek and Ashish were sitting on the either ends of the dining table. Chhaya and Swati were sitting beside each other resulting in a grumpy Shreya beside Veer which was the opposite of the two ladies.
He'd tried pulling out a chair for her and one glare from her brown eyes made him roll his black orbs, now making a mental note of not helping Shreya again.
The dinner was full of talks, banters and jokes passed through everyone except two people.
The two being Shreya and Veer.
"Well, what has happened to you both? Has your enmity finally deceased?" Vivek Aggarwal joked making everyone laugh and both of them let out a fake smile.
"Uhh- actually I need to talk to you about something important." Veer said gaining everyone's attention.
"No business talks here. You people can do it in the office tomorrow." Chhaya butted in.
"It's actually not. It's just- just-"
"Wait!" And Shreya's voice stopped him from doing any further revelations.
"What?" He snapped at her, angry about the fact how dare she interrupt him.
"You better change your tone with me Veer Shekhawat." She warned with a angry look herself.
"All you deserve is this tone of mine Shreya. You think I'll speak nicely to you? You must be delusional." He said with a smirk, shaking his head.
"The one who is delusional is you. How dare you try to reveal the truth without asking me?" She gritted out in his ears.
And the two sets of parents had went back to eating their food because a fight like this was common for them. They were even sure of the fact that this would continue till a good couple of hours with them slapping and kicking each other in the end.
"Didn't ask you? Are you serious bitch? Hadn't we decided to tell them about this today in the morning?" He gritted out in her ear.
"But I have changed my mind okay?" She snapped.
"What the fuck is wrong with you? What are you planning to do now?" He asked in rage as by now, his anger had crossed its peak because of none other than Shreya.
They were too close to each other. Even in front of their families. His right hand was gripping her left hand tightly and she was busy boring holes on his head.
She raised her hand to slap his hand away that was clutching hers, but his other hand stopped her in the process making her mouth dropped open in sudden shock.
"How dare you hippo?" She snapped punching his stomach.
"Just like you dared to raise your hand on me." He snapped back, slapping her head.
"You didn't just do that." She shook her head while glaring at him.
"You bet." He winked with a smirk and gulped down the next moment as he saw Shreya's eyes turning red in anger second by second.
And at that moment he knew he had to save his life. So without thinking, he got up from the chair he was sitting on and ran to the direction of bedrooms in this house which is certainly a bit isolated than others. And Shreya too, without waiting any second ran behind him, clutching her stomach weirdly and the parents could only shake their heads, extremely tired with the behaviour of their children.
The only thought running in their mind, Will our wish to marry them off together ever succeed?
//////////
While Shreya was busy licking the remnants of cookies and cream icecream from the big family tub that she'd eaten under 10 minutes, Veer was pacing in the main balcony of his parents house.
He hadn't even bought a chair for her to sit because of which she was without any problems, sitting on the floor.
But she was satisfied.
The reason being he'd bought her the tub of ice cream because she'd straightaway denied to explain him anything till he doesn't fulfill the demand of hers.
"Are you crazy Shreya? Planning to eat that plastic as well?" He groaned while snatching the tub away from her hands while she was busy searching for the not so remnants in the tub.
"Uhhhh! I hate you. Why did you have to bring such a small pack of it?" She whined with the biggest of pout.
"A small pack? This was literally the largest the brand manufactures." He replied looking at her in bewilderment.
"Whatever." She flipped him off with her fingers.
"Now are you going to tell me the so-called important reason because of which you'd stopped me from doing the revelation?" He asked impatiently, towering over her sitting self on the ground.
"Uhh- y-yeah." She nodded her head a little.
"You see, I-I don't think it's right of us to tell them about this pregnancy now." She said hesitantly.
"Why so?" He asked with a sarcastic smile.
"V-Veer, we live in a society where pregnancy before marriage is a big crime. And let it be us, I don't want people to bad mouth our parents because of our doings." She explained calmly.
"What-"
"I-I think we should tell them we want to get married. And after all this will happen, we'll tell them about this pregnancy. This way neither they will be angry at us nor people will get to speak anything to them. I want to save our parents, not us. It was our mistake and our parents should not be victims of this. Because no matter how much we try, this just happens." She continued, not letting him speak in between.
"What did you just say? Marriage? Me as in marrying you? Yeah, that's not happening." He said or more like declared.
"What the hell Veer! Atleast try to understand what I am saying. Keep our enmity aside and just once think about what all I just said. Didn't it make any sense?" She snapped, slapping her leg that was ahead of hers since she was sitting on the ground while he was standing ahead of her.
And no words came out of his mouth. His expression was something as if he was trying to grasp things. Analyze the things which she just said whether those made any sense or not.
"But won't it be wrong of us to hide such a big thing from them?" He finally questioned after moments of silence.
"I agree it'll be. But we aren't doing that for long, right? Just after a week of our marriage, we'll tell them. I don't want them to face any problems because of us." She shook her head.
"Even I don't. The only thing I was worried about with this pregnancy was how our parents will react. I guess, you're right. No matter how much I don't want this to happen, but this marriage will anyhow take place." Saying his with a clenched jaw, he walked away from a pain stricken Shreya.
How big impact a single move can create on two people's life. Was what she was thinking.
"I hate you Veer Shekhawat, but this has to take place." She murmured at his retreating figure.
//////////
The dinner was still going on the dining table, although Shreya and Veer had returned a couple of minutes ago. She barely ate anything and even him as they were way nervous about the fact how they'll drop the news on their parents.
"Well, are you ready to tell us?" Chhaya questioned looking at the duo who were sweating profusely.
"Why are you guys sweating so much? Have you like murdered someone?" Ashish joked making all them laugh except Shreya and Veer who let out a fake smile.
"No, it's not about that. I-I- it's j-just t-that-"
"Stop stuttering pig. It's damn irritating." Shreya snapped making everyone laugh and Veer clenched his jaw.
"Then why don't you say it? You think it's that easy, huh?" He gritted out to her.
"Whatever." She shrugged, unbothered.
"So we are planning to get married. By we, I mean Veer and I." She said and everyone's mouth dropped open.
Their parent's because of the shock and Veer's because of her bluntness.
Vivek and Ashish's jaw were touching the ground while Swati and Chhaya were grinning like a Cheshire cat, but their faces displayed shock at its best.
"Well, okay."
"Finally."
"I thought it would take them another couple of years."
"We can proceed now. Good good."
And this time Shreya and Veer's mouth were dropped open at their reaction.
"Mom? Dad? Did you guys even hear what I just said?" Shreya asked with a disturbed face.
"Of course we did. And I am so happy for you both Shreya and Veer." Chhaya grinned.
"We didn't know you guys were in a secret relationship behind our backs." Swati said playfully and Veer let out uncomfortable coughs.
"Mom- we were never-"
"Well whatever has happened it's for your good. We'll be conducting your wedding possibly next week. " Vivek said smiling at the two.
"Next week? Where did that come from?" Shreya shrieked.
"Yes, next week. You see, it doesn't matter whether we are angry at you or not because of this sudden revelation. We understand our children enough. But the wedding has to happen soon. I know you guys must've planned out that for later, but you see not everyone is not as modern as us and there might be problems ahead seeing you both are at a considerable age. So to not come across any such situation, marriage under a week is the best option because it would happen sooner or later right." Ashish explained being the most mature one present here.
"B-But-"
"No buts. Shreya, you need to understand from our perspective as well. We also have some obligations and sooner or later you are going to marry, so why not the next week? Anyways, it's either now or never because if you won't agree, we'll have to choose someone else for Shreya." Chhaya declared.
"Why someone else? It's my right on my bab-"
And Shreya didn't let Veer complete his sentence.
"Shut up! I already said that I will only marry you right? Now keep your disgusting mouth shut." She snapped at him.
"Shreya! Is this a way to talk to your soon to-be husband?" Chhaya, her mother scolded.
"My sincere apologies Mom. I know what you're saying is right. So okay, I am fine with whatever you guys want." Shreya said tiredly, running a hand through her dark brown locks.
"Okay? Seriously okay? You're agreeing to marry me under a week?" He gritted out in her ear, grasping her hand in a firm grip.
His black eyes were boring into her brown eyes, yet it only made them realize the hate they had for each other. Was it really hate?
"What do you want then? I want my child to have a proper future and life and this is the only way this will happen." Shreya whispered calmly in his ears.
"You're saying as if it's only your child." He reasoned back whispering.
"It's yours as well. But you see, you never intended to get one." She repeated his words which he'd said to her moments back.
"Stop fighting you too. Change yourselves because once you both get married, this behaviour isn't acceptable." Chhaya said concerned about the two children of the two families.
"Whatever. I need to rest. Which room can I rest in Aunty?" Shreya asked politely as the dinner was conducted in Shekhawat house.
"Go to any of the room. Or preferably, rest in Veer's old room. You should get used to it, huh." Swati said smiling brightly.
"Alright."
Did she just agree to rest in my room!? Veer thought looking all bewildered.
"I'll just help her." Saying this Veer instantly followed her to the way to his old bedroom in a haste with his mind running to various conclusions as to why Shreya did that.
//////////
"Hands away." She warned, trying to look intimidating.
"I'll tape your mouth if I hear any other word from your mouth." He threatened and by no efforts he was already looking intimidating.
"Do it." She challenged.
"I-I-"
"Stop stuttering and do it." She glared, removing his hand forcefully which was placed on her mouth.
His tanned face was flushed with his black hair toppled messily on his head as if he'd run his hand through them thousands of times. His lips were pressed in thin line as if he was trying to control himself from snapping at her which he is widely known for. Worry and tension was something prominent on his face since Shreya had dropped the news on him.
Shreya on the other hand was busy looking at him challengingly. Blowing her dark brown hair dramatically, while giving him a small smirk, it didn't mean she wasn't worried. She was in fact worried more than him. More of what she shows.
"Then why the f*ck you slapped me again? Our quota for today was already done in the office." He snapped slapping the back of her head.
"Don't you dare hit me. It affects the baby." She pointed out punching his stomach.
"Ouch! And why didn't you remind me about the baby while I was hitting you in the morning and even now?" He grumbled clutching his stomach.
"Because they don't really affect me. You aren't that strong, you know." She reasoned dramatically.
"You bitch." He cursed, glaring at her.
"Whatever. Now give me some icecream." She said waving her hand slightly.
"You just ate a full tub an hour ago. And if you so badly want to eat it, then go get yourself. Don't you have your own hands?" He dismissed her with his hands.
"I do. But remember, I won't forget telling my kid about how his/her father didn't fulfill my needs at the time of pregnancy." She smirked, trying her best to play dirty here.
"What kind of a lady are you, huh? Who does this shit?" He glared at her accusingly.
"I am doing something which every pregnant lady does. Ordering the baby's father to fulfill their needs is something the father loves and look at you. What an imbecile." She shook her head.
"Call me that again and just see what I am going to do with you." He threatened.
"Stop giving me empty threats Veer Shekhawat. " She again smirked.
"You are such-" And before he could complete his curses, Shreya ran towards the direction of en suite bathroom while clutching a hand over her mouth.
And without wasting any second, Veer followed her to the washroom where she was again puking her guts out. The scene was no different than what happened in the morning.
"I am so done. So so so f*cking done." She cried clutching her head, still down on the floor of his bathroom.
"Shreya, stop acting like a child. Get up." Veer called out impatiently.
"Shut up. Please just shut up. My head feels like its bursting from inside. I can't take it anymore." She pleaded, while fresh tears running down her cheeks as she'd unknowingly started crying.
"Shreya." This time his tone was comparatively less sour than previous times.
"Please Veer. Just go away." Came her low whisper, barely audible.
Letting out a huge sigh, Veer forwarded his hands only to pick her with no such efforts with his one hand wrapped under her knees while the other one supported her back.
"What are you doing?"
"Helping you." He replied and in a flash they were out of the washroom, now back inside the room where he'd placed her on the bed.
The whole time Shreya was clung to him like a baby and Veer could only have one thought at this.
When she's herself a kid from heart no matter how bad of a mouth she possesses, then how in the world she can be a mother this soon? And not to forget which she wasn't ready for and never intended to.
"What's with the sickness?" He questioned when she was busy settling herself on his bed, trying to pull up the comforter.
"I don't know. It's not like I get pregnant daily." She huffed making Veer clench his jaw.
At this point, only he knew how he was controlling himself from snapping at her. The fact that they were being asked to get married wasn't going well with him and Shreya never makes anything easy for him as well.
"What I meant is didn't your gynecologist tell you the reason for it when you went for the checkup?" He hissed, his face displaying the frustration Shreya was putting on him very well.
"I didn't visit the gynecologist. I just took the test." She shot back.
"Well then are you sure the test is always correct? Like a hundred percent?" He asked the most important question.
"Yeah. I am like a hundred percent sure." She mimicked earning a glare from him.
"You want a slap or what?" He raised his eyebrows.
"Slap me and I'll tell my kid what all you did with me." She threatened.
"If this isn't hell, I don't know what is." He cursed, running a hand through his hair frustratedly.
They were busy gazing at each other with their heated gazes. Both of them were trying to show as if it didn't affect them. As if their proximity wasn't making their hearts go in frenzy. But who were they lying to?
"Veer, it's paining. Stop talking." She grumbled after sometime.
"How will it affect your stomach if I talk or not?" He asked in bewilderment.
"Not my stomach you idiot. My head is paining." She huffed trying to massage there.
"We'll be visiting the doctor tomorrow." He said or more like declared.
"Huh?" She asked in confusion at his words.
"We are going to visit a gynecologist tomorrow for your checkup." He repeated, this time in a much clearer tone.
"We?" She repeated.
"Yes, we." He gritted out.
"No."
"Yes. Now end of discussion." He glared looking at her challengingly whether she'll still oppose him or not.
"You're so bad. I hate you bastard." She shouted gripping his hair which made the impact of him falling on the bed beside her.
"What the heck are you trying to do Shreya? Who can even tell that you're pregnant by your behaviour. Do remember I won't appreciate you behaving this way when you're carrying my child. I don't want any trouble, got it?" He glared at her, tone raising high with every sentence.
His face was now only a couple of inches away from her with his hands placed on either side of her face on the bed. In a way he was hovering her.
"I-I-"
"What I- I? Do you even know how you should be behaving and what all you should be doing in this period? You're bloody acting like normal days." He continued looking at her with raging eyes.
"What is my fault? I didn't know I would get pregnant at 25. I know I am not prepared for anything, but why do you have to scold me? Do you yourself know anything about this when you're questioning me?" She said, her lips badly quivering, eyes glistening with fresh tears.
"Why are you crying?" He asked in a much softer tone.
Bipolar much.
"Bloody hormones." She sniffed, rubbing her nose on his expensive shirt transferring the snot.
"Eww woman! That's disgusting." He scrunched up his face at her.
"Look whose acting not so mature now." She scoffed, pointing out.
"How can you mock me while crying?" He asked while looking at her who was busy sobbing like a child, curled up in his chest.
Her hands were formed in small fists while she was rubbing them around her eyes. She was crying like a small baby. Her lips turned into a small pout and tears flowing out of her eyes freely, she was crying endlessly.
"It's called talent." She hiccuped in between making him sigh.
What is he going to do with her?
He was still hovering over her with no such gap between them unknowingly. Their faces with a 2 inch gap where she busy sobbing while he was busy glaring at her.
His black orbs were boring into her brown ones with hers glistening with tears while his' raging with anger. Veins were popping out of his neck, displaying how much he was trying to suppress his anger because of her cries.
"Shut it." He warned.
"What?" She hiccuped.
"Shut your annoying cries." He gritted out with difficulty.
"No!" Whining this, she was back to sobbing uncontrollably and in process she'd unknowingly hit him forcefully on his face.
"What the hell Shreya? Will you stop hitting me? Apologize now!" He demanded, eyes screaming with anger.
"N-no." She stammered.
"Apologize now!" His tone was threatening.
And she shook her head in response.
"Change your mind." He gritted out, his husky voice sending shivers down her body.
"N-no...." Was her final answer and the very next moment his lips came down crashing on hers in a powerful kiss, having no other option as his anger was taking its peak and all she could do was stare at him like a fool, eyes popped out of her sockets.
Her cries were stuck in her throat as well as her words. She was frozen on the spot.
And then she reacted in a way Veer could never imagine in his whole life.
She was kissing him back.
With the same fervour.
Her hands placed on his rough stubble clad cheekbones, legs tangled in a way which made them reverse their positions now that she was lying on top of him, they were busy kissing like no tomorrow.
"Damn." He whispered looking at her in between while she was busy panting.
Removing their clothes in a flash, Veer's intense gaze was now settled on Shreya. A bare Shreya to be precise.
"What are you looking at pervert?" She hissed lifting his dropped jaw with her slender finger.
"The marks which I left on you a month back. They're still visible. But looks like they need to be renewed." He smirked and this time it was Shreya whose jaw dropped.
"You-"
"Now's not the time." Saying this his lips found hers again and in no time the room was filled with loud moans, grunts, two bodies tangling in each other's doing the most intimate and intense task unknown to the four people outside who were busy planning the 'perfect' wedding.
A perfect wedding for the two enemies who were wrapped up in the sheets, not realizing what they'd just done moments ago.
The thought running in their mind?
How could I let this happen again?
