Chapter 4
"No way." Was the short response I got from Emma.
"But why not?" I whined, phone tucked between my ear and shoulder as I went to prepare some more toasties.
"Because it's just weird. Plus I'm going to save my first kiss for someone I really like."
"But it's just a kiss on the cheek." I continued. "Plus you like me don't you? We've known each other for ages. Plus I'm the best looking our of our little group."
I heard her snort before Jack shouted in the background 'no way'.
"Don't kid yourself. Robin and Jace have the best genes apart from me." I gasped in shock.
"That's just plain rude."
"Life is rude."
"Your face is rude!" I retorted pettily.
"And you're a complete kid. Soz I'm not interested go find another person to do it with you. I need to go now, my friends ringing at the doorbell already. Toodles." And then she hung up.
I groaned before taking perfectly sculptured and same toastie out of the oven.
"Toasties are ready!" I call shouted to Robin who had turned the TV up to an outrageous volume.
"Be there in a sec." He called back.
Jason took a slice before blowing on it a couple of times. "It's delicious as always." I nodded my head.
"Exactly. You know what I want to be when I'm older?" I asked him, as Robin took half the toasties on a plate and returning to the telly. He secretly loved the cheese dishes, I just knew it.
"A toastie maker?"
"Close but no. I'm going to be a cheese chef. Of course my family finds it an unsuitable job, but they can just bugger off." Jason smiled at me the way you would smile at a child who said he'd fly to the moon. "Stop judging me." I spat at him harshly.
"I'm not, I think you'd be able to pull it off." I scoffed at him before putting the last load of toasties in the oven.
"Yeah right. Anyhow I've got more pressing issues. Firstly Emma flat out rejected me, secondly I have no idea how to approach a girl and thirdly she said that you and Robin were more handsome than me."
Jason calmly took another toastie, nodding.
"Hmm you could try and lure them in with toasties." I snorted before shaking my head.
"I'll figure it out another day. For now let's just eat cheese, chill, steal the telly from Robin and watch Jaws." Jason nodded before walking towards the unsuspecting victim.
With a swift movement he had shoved Robin off the couch, as he lay sprawled on the ground I jumped on to the sofa, lying sideways so there was no space for Robin or Jace anymore.
"That's betrayal at its highest." Jace remarked, offering Robin a hand. Robin hoisted himself up before turning towards me.
"I say we remove this scum from the sofa and take it for ourselves."
"You face is scum." I retorted "Besides you won't be able to get me off the sofa that easily. I'm keeping a tight hold of it."
Jace shook his head before kneeling down next to me.
"We've worked as a team so long that I know every single weakness you have." He said before jabbing my tender skin a few centimetres above my collar bone.
People said it tickled when you do that, which may have been true for some, but for me it was bloody torture. I instinctively lifted my shoulders up to protect me from the attacks, weakening my fundamental grip on the sofa.
Robin used the opportunity, grabbing my waist he tossed me down on the floor, hard at that.
I gasped for air, not only because my breathing hadn't really worked when Jace began his assault but also because I had landed oddly.
And those bastards didn't even care. They were happily sitting on the sofa, looking through the film's on Amazon prime.
The cold hearted Arden brothers.
I got up, looking for a space on the couch, but since they were sprawled out there wasn't an inch of room left.
I sighed heavily before sitting on the floor in front of the sofa.
"Arseholes." I muttered, digging my fingers into the carpet. Jace lsughed his familiar laugh which sounded like he was laughing 'ha ha ha'. It was weird. He ruffled my hair as if I was a little kid before brushing through it once. His hand getting stuck in a tangle.
You may ask: how does one get tangles in short hair? The answer is yet unknown to mankind, only a few special people could manage it, like me.
"Jesus what do you do with your hair?" He asked me, trying to sort out my tangles.
"He washes and douses it with holy water."
"I can't deal with any for of these terrible jokes, just kill me now." Robin said, his voice muffled by a cushion again. I couldn't blame him, we were watching Jaws after all.
"I'll try and hold back for the little munchkin." The impact of the pillow hitting me wasn't forceful, in fact I hadn't even felt it due to Jason's hand still on my head.
I say back, grinning as Jason shoved Robin. Point to the Cheese Master.
