twelve

"No! You're making a mistake! All of you!" Elena cried out, as she noticed that the majority of hands were up in the air, inevitably deciding on her twins fate.

Alec felt his heart sink, realising just how many of his crewmates didn't trust him. His friends. His former friends.

"Please!! Please don't do this! I beg of you!" Elena pleaded to Jaune, as the boy felt guilt well inside him. He didn't want to make this decision, but he had to do what was right for everyone.

"Lena, it's okay.." Alec said softly, as the girl spun around. "It's not!! You're going to be falsely executed! You're being framed!" Elena cried. Alec embraced his twin, as she hugged him back tightly. "It's okay. I... I don't blame the other crewmates for not trusting me. It hurts, but I already forgive them." Alec admitted, before the Lightbourne twins separated.

"You guys.. aren't like this. This absolutely horrific experience stuck in space has caused you all to stop trusting one another. I get it." Alec sighed heavily. With that, the boy left towards the airlock, Jaune and Stella hesitantly following.

Elena's footsteps could be heard, racing after them, but Alec turned around and shook his head at his sister. "Elena.. I don't want you to watch this. Please, I know it'll break you." He admitted. Elena wanted to protest, but he was right. The twins embraced one last time. "I love you little sis." Alec teased before Elena frowned, letting go of her brother. "You're only twelve minutes older than me!" She huffed, before her face softened. "I love you too."

Alec then continued to walk away, as Jaune and Stella followed.

Elena turned around, facing the other crewmates. "Lena.." Maeve blurted, wanting to run to her best friend and comfort her, but she knew that wasn't a good idea. Rage and heartbreak filled the cat faunus eyes. "You're all a bunch of fucking idiots!" She hissed, before racing out of the cafeteria, alone.

Maeve looked at the doorway Elena had just exited out of, wanting to go after her, but she didn't. The fox faunus sniffled, as a tear ran down her cheek. "Poor Lena.." Blake sighed, though she didn't know herself whether she thought Alec was an imposter or not. Though what Blake thought didn't matter now, Alec was being ejected.

As the cat faunus floated off into space, Stella and Jaune watched sadly, trying to keep themselves together. "Jaune.. this feels so wrong.." Stella confessed, before facing the tall blonde. "I know.. but what am I supposed to do!? I don't know what to do Stell.. I feel like I can't trust anyone! We all spent years together training but now.. it feels like I can't recognise any one of you!" The Arc confessed, clearly stressed and miserable.

"I'm doing the best I can.. but I don't feel like it's ever enough. I didn't sign up for this— I can't play god! I.. I hate this so much." Jaune confessed, as his eyes were glossy. Stella nodded, unsure of what to even say, she completely understood what the captain meant. Without hesitation, she hugged him.

Sometime later

"I hope you don't mind, I dragged Kiko's mattress into our room. She doesn't feel safe sleeping in a room alone and.. she seems to trust me." Stella explained to her girlfriend, as they walked through storage together. "I don't mind.. actually that's really sweet of you." Pyrrha insisted.

"I feel really bad for Kiko.. god I couldn't imagine how heartbroken she must be feeling.." Stella confessed, before she thought about it. Kiko lost her love. Nova lost his love. Nora lost her love. God, was Pyrrha a next target??

Noticing the pinkette tremble, Pyrrha put her hands on her shoulders, catching Stella's attention. "Stella?" She asked, as Stella had stopped zoning out. "I'm okay.. I'm okay.." The Valentine lied. The fear of losing Pyrrha only grew stronger and stronger.

"Are you sure?" Pyrrha asked. Stella quickly nodded, trying to reassure the Nikos girl. The short girl then stood on her toes, reaching up to kiss Pyrrha. The redhead kissed back, before breaking apart, and instead embracing her girlfriend.

Once the pair let go of eachother, Pyrrha then frowned, recognising the tshirt that Stella was wearing. "Hey.. isn't that mine?" She asked as the Valentine looked at the shirt she was wearing before giving Pyrrha a smirk. "No." The pair just laughed before walking back to their room.

Pyrrha knocked on the door, before hearing a chipper, "Come in!"

Stella pushed the door opened, and gasped when they realised their room had been.. altered.

"I hope you don't mind.. I needed to distract myself for a bit so I.. kind of changed our room around a bit." Kiko confessed. The couple stepped inside the room, closing the door behind them. The first thing they had noticed, was the fairy lights that had been strung across the ceiling, giving it a warm feeling.

Currently, the Niji girl was sticking photographs on the wall, some of her own, and some she had found laying around Stella and Pyrrha's room.

The girlfriends had a look at the pictures, finding some they'd taken on dates. Kiko had plenty of pictures with herself and Ilia, as Ilia had snapped pictures at every moment she could. There were plenty of other pictures of the trio with friends, some that were crewmates on this very ship.

Kiko turned around, facing Stella and Pyrrha. "I hope you don't mind!" She squeaked before the chameleon faunus was suddenly hugged by the pair. "It's totally fine! I love it!" Stella insisted. "It's so cute!" Pyrrha assured her.

Kiko had a small smile, as she hugged the duo back.

"Hey guys, I'm going to bed." Yang announced, passing Jenni, Maeve and Blake, who sat around a cafeteria table. "Okay, Adios chica." Maeve waved. Yang snorted, amused by that reply. "Sleep well." Blake then said, before Yang left the cafeteria.

"I feel really bad for Elena." Jenni confessed, as the trio were now alone. "God me too.." Blake sighed. "Same.." Maeve replied, wishing she could magically make her best friends pain disappear.

"We should probably go to bed soon." Blake spoke up, as she had noticed the ship was pretty quiet, meaning others had gone to bed too. "Yeah.." Maeve admitted, as the pair stood up, their arms linked.

Jenni gave the couple a smile, "You know, I am absolutely ecstatic for you two." She admitted, with a cheesy grin. Blake blushed, as Maeve smirked, "Thanks Jen." She replied.

The trio then parted ways, heading to their bedrooms.
