Win a Heart, Lose a Game. (Player/Veteran)

[[ Summary: Love wins. ]]

--

The crew went from a healthy 10 to just four remaining.

Player ran through the darkened hallways of the Skeld, heading to the fusebox. Whoever this Impostor was, they surely enjoyed toying with the lights.

Flip, flip, flick? Oh, someone was here.

Turning to his side, Player saw a familiar yellow suit. Veteran had flicked the wrong switch, turning that one off instead of on.

"Veteran? You know that one goes up, right?" Player asked, flipping the switch again.

"I thought you'd turned it off, what do you mean?" Veteran replied, flipping a switch to "On", and the ship's lights returning.

"Oh, okay." Player shrugged, turning around. There weren't that many tasks left to complete. He began to leave.

Skshh....

The door to Electrical shut in front of him, trapping him and Veteran in the room. Player hit the door, not noticing fast enough that it'd shut in his face. "Ow, dang it." He sighed.

Veteran stood next to the fusebox, with his back up against it. "You're tellin' me that wasn't YOU shutting that door?"

"No, why else would I just slam into it?" Player looked to Veteran. "How do I know it wasn't you? My back was t-"

Clanging under the two's feet interrupted Player's question. Someone was in the vents. The vent in the back of Electrical wouldn't be able to see him and Veteran from its position.

The vent opened, clanging as it did so. Before Player could look to see who was there, however, the vent clanged closed and the Impostor was gone. He looked over to see Veteran still next to the fusebox, and the door opening.

"Hey Veteran...? Let's walk together." Player suggested.

"But why?" Veteran questioned.

"Because we know none of us is the Impostor, and whoever it is can only kill one of us if they do, and whoever lives can report." Player sighed.

Player and Veteran were roughly similar heights, but Veteran was slightly taller.

Player looked up to his friend. "Come on, Veteran. It'll be safe."

Veteran looked away, but then back to Player. He grabbed one of his hands. "I don't want to see you die. Let's go."

Player and Veteran walked down the hallway into Lower Engine. Veteran held onto Player's hand.

"Hey, why are you holding my hand, Veteran? This isn't like you." Player looked at him.

Veteran didn't reply to the question. He made a small noise, but looked to the side. "...Want you to be safe..."

Player gently smiled behind his helmet. "Okay, keep your secrets."

The two walked around the ship, nervously checking for another body. Every time, they didn't find one. They made it all the way to Cafeteria.

"Y'know, Veteran," Player laughed lightly,"Maybe this is my break. Maybe I'll finally win. What do you think?"

Veteran laughed, not a mocking laugh. He didn't speak.

"Alright, Veteran, what's up? You're not normally like this." Player paused walking, the two of them standing in front of the window to the outside.

"I don't know what you're talking about, Player." Veteran replied.

"Veteran....I know you better than that." Player sighed. "Also, you've been holding my hand this entire time."

"Eugh, really, more lovey crap?" A voice came from behind them. Player and Veteran turned around, seeing Stoner walking up towards them.

"Oh, hi, Stoner." Player replied. "What makes you say that?"

"You dudes are holdin' hands, lookin' at space together. How isn't that just more romance and stuff?" Stoner replied slowly, a sarcastically confused expression showing.

Player laughed, amused,"Nah, Stoner, this isn't a date or anything! I was walking with Veteran to keep him safe! It's just best friend things, right, Vet?" Player looked to Veteran.

Veteran was covering his face with his free arm. Veteran shook his head in a 'no' motion, but he couldnt manage more than a hum of a "nuh-uh".

Stoner sighed,"See? I told ya, man."

Player looked between the green and yellow suited men next to him. "I- Veteran? Do you have something to say?"

"He's right." Veteran looked at Player. "Player... I.. I like you more than as a best friend. I wanted to say it earlier, but... You saw what happened. I wanted to wait, but--"

"Alright, enough of that crap." Stoner spoke up. Before either Player or Veteran could react, Stoner pulled out his knife and stabbed Player, multiple times.

[ DEAD BODY REPORTED ]

Stoner, Veteran, and Poopyfarts96 were teleported into their meeting spots.

"Dude, I just saw the wooooooorst thing. Veteran just killed Player, man.." Stoner said, looking at Poopyfarts.

"You killed Player in front of me! What are you talking about?!" Veteran growled, gripping the table hard enough it looked as if he was about to break it.

"I'm talkin' about what you did. You're blamin' me, dude... that ain't chill." Stoner replied.

"You saw what just happened, and YOU'RE GONNA BLAME ME? WHAT THE F-" Veteran punched the table, his voice cracking as he yelled at Stoner.

Poopyfarts watched in silence. He looked at his tablet, and made his decision.

The ghosts' viewpoint was much different. Player was watching, but thinking about what Veteran had told him.

Player sighed. "We know how this is going to end, Poopyfarts is going to believe Stoner."

Before any ghost had an attempt to make a reply, the "DEFEAT" view appeared before them.

Everyone spawned back into the waiting ship. Player went to Veteran, and hugged him.

"Player, what're you-" Veteran's voice cracked again.

"I may have lost that game, but I won something. I finally won something." Player smiled.

"What did you-"

"I won your heart."
