Nightmares (Player/Captain)

[[ Summary: Captain tends to have some scary nightmares. What can one do? ]]

[[ LOCATION: Skeld ]]

--

Captain may have seemed dull, but someone like him even knew the truth.

The crew was dwindling, and going fast. A full crew of ten down to a mere five. The indicators blinked now and again, stating what everyone onboard knew. "TWO IMPOSTORS REMAIN." Two people in his crew, or at least what he considered his crew, weren't.

A knock on his living quarters door got his attention.

"Yeah! Be there in a moment!"

Captain stood up from his bed, opening the door to his living chamber. Standing in front of him was a familiar face. The only one anyone ever thought was more dull than him, the orange-suited Mr. Cheese.

"Hi, Captain! Can I talk to ya for a bit?" Mr. Cheese spoke in an upbeat, almost too-pure voice.

"Uh, yeah, sure, Mr. Cheese. What is it?"

"There's not many people left. Do you have any idea who the other Impostor could be? I'm gettin' a little worried..." Mr. Cheese looked down.

Captain nervously laughed,"If I knew, I'd tell y-"

Mr. Cheese laughed, interrupting him. "I said the *other* Impostor." A grin came across his..... suit?

Captain recoiled, backing up and trying to shut his room's door, but the smaller male kept it open, stepping into the room.

"It'd be a shame if I killed ya here! But ya know, maybe not! You're the only not-Impostor left, Captain! Wanna see what I did?"

"N-No, I'd rather n-"

Mr. Cheese pulled a red beanie from his pocket. Player's beanie. "Oh! and I think I got...." He continued to pull hats from who-knows-where. Veteran's crown. Engineer's goggles. Bro's hat.

His inhuman shape grinned again, but then the world went dark.
--
Captain sat up in his bed in a cold sweat. The Impostor nightmares were back. He hadn't had any in a few weeks, but this one hit close to the current status of his crew. Making a small noise,

Captain rolled over to check the time. It was 2:05am. He knew he wouldn't get any sleep unless he had someone to feel safe near, even though it was a danger for him and his fellow crewmate.

Rationality didn't really exist much within Captain, especially when he was on the verge of tears.
He pulled the blanket off of himself, standing up as quiet as he could. Groggily walking across the ship, he went to the only room he knew the exact location by heart. Player's living quarters.

There was still a light on in there.

- knock, knock-

"Huh? Oh, uh, one moment!" Player's voice came from behind the door.

The door made a swooshing noise as Player and Captain came face to face.

"What're ya doing up so late, Captain...?" Player tilted his head lightly.

Captain was shaking, and simply embraced Player. A few sobs escaped from him, he was both happy to know it was all a dream and that Player was okay, and scared for the reality that dream may have held.

"W-Woah, hey, Captain-" Player stepped back a little bit, surprised by the taller's weight against him. "It's okay, what's wrong...?"

Captain shook his head, his grip tightening until Player coughed, a signal for Captain to loosen up a bit. Player slowly led himself and Captain to his bed, to give them somewhere to sit.

The white-suited man was shaking, but he managed a few phrases. "Night..nightmare... it was.. bad.."

"Hey, Captain, it'll be okay....I'm sure it won't come true...." Player spoke softly. "Can you tell me what it was about?"

Captain coughed and sniffled, tears still falling on his face. "You.. Everyone.. died... except two.."

He held onto Player again. He spoke between his crying," I d-don't want to lose you like that..."

He then reached, grabbing one of Player's hands and putting it onto his head.

Player gently pat Captain's head, trying to do calming motions. "I'm not going anywhere, Captain. You know that." He stifled a yawn. "Do you need to try to get some more sleep? I can let you g-"

"I want...to s-stay." Captain spoke quietly,"I don't want to be alone r-right now."

Player looked at Captain for a moment, before sighing and nodding. "I'll... I'll let you this once, I know how bad nightmares like that can be."

The two layed down, Player pulling his blanket over the two of them. Captain and Player barely both fit on Player's bed, but they fit enough to stay comfortable. Captain held onto Player and slowly fell asleep. Player watched as his taller crewmate fell asleep, and soon fell asleep too.
--
It was 8:00am. Not like anyone could tell by the dark space outside, they had to rely on their alarms. Upon waking up, crew were supposed to meet in the Cafeteria for morning briefings.

Veteran walked to the Cafeteria, yawning from having just woken up. In the Cafeteria were The Gentleman, Mr. Cheese, Stoner, and Bro.

"Hey guys," he spoke, acknowledging them as he sat nearby,"Anyone see Player or Captain?"

"Now that you mention it, I have not seen either of them. That's quite odd," The Gentleman replied.

"Nah, dude, I haven't seen them either." Stoner chimed in, with Bro simply shrugging.

"Well," Veteran glanced around,"I think I should look for them. Don't start anythin' without me!"

Veteran looked around the main parts of the ship, seeing no one. Knocking on Captain's living quarters, he had no reaction. "Huh. That's weird."

He then checked Player's room, which had been left unlocked. He glanced in, seeing the red and white-suited people that he knew. Snapping a quick picture, he chuckled to himself and walked back to the Cafeteria.

"He's not gonna live that one down."
