Silence wasn't something that came across the ship very often. Sometimes it was the affectionate words of a boyfriend and girlfriend. Sometimes it was the arguments of friends. Sometimes.....it was just Mr. Cheese. But this was one of those times the ship felt nearly silent.
Everyone was still alive. Ten members in the crew. This trip was meant to take some time, so it was expected to be quiet sometimes. This morning, only nine people arrived at the table.
"Alright everyone," Captain began, a quick yawn sneaking in,"Head count! Let's see.... We've got Player, Veteran..." He pointed and named off everyone, until he noticed. "Hey... Where's Mr. Cheese?"
The entire table looked in TheGentleman's direction. The black suited crewmate put his hands up,"Mr. Cheese is in our living quarters. He wasn't feeling well this morning, I'm afraid I don't know why."
Gnome's higher pitched voice came up. "Well why don't you check on him? Make sure he's okay??" Most of the crew spoke, mostly in agreement to her statement. "You two are together, after all!" she added in.
TheGentleman sighed. "I understand that. He said that I should come in case there was something he would need to know." He felt a bit guilty. "I'll be sure to check on him when this meeting is over."
Veteran leaned to Player, whispering a little too loud. "That's the nicest I've seen him be towards Mr. Cheese in a while." That earned a glare and grumble from TheGentleman.
"Well, all there is for today is to make sure the ship isn't broken." Captain shrugged. "It's a slow day. Figured we needed one, since Saturday was..." He looked to the side.
In unison, Player and Veteran said "...Yeah." Poopyfarts 'spoke' up, earning Captain giving him a look.
"Anyway, the tablets or whatever are gonna update soon, so, everyone scatter and get the day done!" Captain exclaimed. Everyone went on their way, and TheGentleman went down to his living quarters.
It may have been his room, but it was one he shared with Mr. Cheese. He knocked on the door, and heard Mr. Cheese make a vague 'hm?' hum, so he opened the door.
The orange suited crew member had been lying down and facing the door, but hissed at the light entering the room and turned away. TheGentleman quickly closed the door, noticing the lights in the room had been dimmed. Mr. Cheese had not even put his suit on, he was only in sleepwear. TheGentleman took his own helmet off, not needing it.
"Mr. Cheese," TheGentleman began,"What are you doing? You can't sleep in..."
"I'm...not." Mr. Cheese said, quietly. His hands were on his forehead before he turned and put his face against the cold wall. TheGentleman raised an eyebrow at what the smaller was doing, deciding to sit next to him on the bed.
"Are you....okay?" TheGentleman asked, putting one hand onto Mr. Cheese. Mr. Cheese slightly flinched, before making a hum of discomfort. TheGentleman sighed. "You're going to have to speak, I don't understand hums."
"Hea...Headache..." Mr. Cheese slightly slurred out, nearly nuzzling his face to the wall.
"What are you doing with the wall?" TheGentleman's harsher tones slipped through.
"Cold feels good." Mr. Cheese said. "Doesn't... really help for long... helps a little..."
TheGentleman looked at Mr. Cheese with a sympathetic look. He gently put his hand in Mr. Cheese's bright-orange hair, very tenderly trying to show affection.
"I.. I appreciate that, but.. my head hurts. Can you... Can you.." Mr. Cheese backed his head from the wall, looking towards TheGentleman. "Can you do that way... some other time....? I-I'm sorry.." He sounded nearly sick.
To his surprise, TheGentleman nodded and put his hand on Mr. Cheese's cheek. While the smaller had been putting his forehead on the wall, his cheeks still were warmer than typical. "Are you sure you are not sick, Mr. Cheese?"
Mr. Cheese nodded. "It's just a headache.." He spoke quickly, his words melding together. He leaned onto TheGentleman. "Thank you for checking on me..."
TheGentleman didn't move for a moment. He wasn't used to being affectionate, let alone like this. His mind began to think. Not a single 'my name Mr. Cheese' from the smaller person beside him, and aside from the wall thing a moment ago, he wasn't acting as aloof as normal.
He then looked at Mr. Cheese with a soft smile. "You're welcome. Do you need anything?" He asked. Now that he thought about it, he didn't know if any painkillers were on the ship.
"Just.. Just ya bein' here is enough." Mr. Cheese softly nuzzled his partner. "It'll.. it'll go away in a few hours, I think."
"Captain told me that there are not many tasks today, so until you feel better, I will stay here." TheGentleman reassured him.
Mr. Cheese let out a small, tired-sounding laugh. "Thank you."
