Rescue And Recon
Error was on the couch rocking Gradient while Cross made lunch. ‘Mamma hasn’t been home in awhile…’ he realized with a frown. ‘Maybe he is at dads place? But he would never stay there…'
He frowned suddenly, getting up while cradling Gradient. "DreAm? drEAm WhErE ArE YoU!?" He called out to the positive god. "MOm Is MiSsiNg!"
Dream ran into the room, panting, and almost tripping over his own feet. “How long has he been gone? Do you know where he went?!” Dream bombarded Error with questions, worried about Vediovous.
Error was shaking lightly, Gradient beginning to cry in worry and confusion. “H-he’s BeEn Gone For AboUt A daY And A HalF a-AnD i DonT KnOw wherE hE weNt! ThAts whY IM WorrIed Sick!” he teared up a bit. He has been more emotional ever since Gradient was born.
“I’m sure it’ll be ok, Error. I’ll grab my brother and then head to Gaster’s place, to find out what happened. If all goes to plan, I return safely with Vediovous and my brother.” Dream tried to comfort the glitch in any way he could.
Error sniffled, nodding. “o-oK…” Nightmare suddenly wrapped his arms around Error, making the glitch let out a squeak in surprise. “I heard my name?” Nightmare questioned, glaring over at Dream. He still didn’t trust his brother.
“Yes, you and I are going on a mission. Whether it be search and rescue, or just recon, we’re going, and we’re doing it together.” Dream glared at his untrusting brother before turning and opening a portal to Gaster’s lab.
Nightmare scoffed, rolling his eyes but nodded anyway. He turned to Error, nuzzling his cheek. “Go lay down sweetie, we’ll be back in a bit.” he kissed both Error and Gradients heads, before walking through the portal.
Error whimpered, Cross coming up to him and gently guiding him upstairs to his and NIghtmares room.
Dream and Nightmare both exited the portal in front of the door to Gaster’s house, and Dream knocked on the door.
I walked up to the door and looked through the eyehole, only to see the Emotion Brothers standing there. I opened the door, and looked at Dream, then at Nightmare. “What brings you two here? Is there a problem?” I said, worried.
Vediovous was currently sitting on the couch, cradling Coals dead body, which he refused to let go of. He didn’t want to stay with Gaster, but Gaster has been trying to have them grow close again like they once were, so he really had no choice.
“Yea, there is a problem. We need Vediovous. Now. If you hand him over peacefully, you’ll get off on a good hand.” Nightmare suddenly spoke up before Dream could continue. “If not, you’ll have one hell of a time.” Dream wanted to be tough, but he knew Gaster saw right through him.
“You know, that’s a good idea. Take him to Nightmare’s castle, and keep him safe. There’s something dangerous that I have to take care of.” I walked over to Vediovous and put out my hand.
Vediovous was hesitant, but he did grip onto Gaster’s hand shakily. “o-Ok….” he kept Coals dead body close to him.
Nightmare began to laugh at Vediovous. “Why do you have a dead body with you!?” he cackled as Vediovous flinched, taking a step back and tearing up a bit. “Seriously Vedi, get rid of that awful thing!” Nightmare snapped. “I ain’t having a dead body in my castle!” Vediovous was now crying.
“Hey, back up jerk! That’s obviously making him upset!” Dream shoved his brother aside. “I’m sorry about my brother’s behavior, but he has very different opinions about people sometimes.”
Nightmare growled. “He can stay with me and my gang, but i am not having a dead body in my castle!” he snapped, glaring over at his brother as Vediovous began to cry more, backing up towards the stairs, looking like he might run up them at any moment.
I threw a warning bone at Nightmare. “That’s my dead son's body that you will have in your castle.” I growled.
Nightmare hissed. “My castle, my rules. I will not have that dead thing in my castle!” Vediovous rushed up the stairs, clutching onto the little infants dead body. He couldn’t stand to hear any more.
“Look what you did now, you scum. Wait here.” I walked away from the door and headed up the stairs to me and Vediovous’s bedroom. “Are you ok dear?” I asked as I peeked around the corner. When I received no response, I walked in slowly and sat beside Vediovous on the bed. “I know that you want to keep Coal with you, but if Nightmare won’t have you with him, then I’ll hide him, and I’ll call you when the coast is clear. But I refuse to have you in harms way.” I wrapped my arm slowly and carefully around Vediovous’s shoulders, trying to comfort him.
Vediovous was crying, curled against himself as he held Coals little body close, rubbing the back of the dead infants skull to calm himself. He nuzzled against Gaster, soaking up as much comfort as he could get. “...h...HarmS Way ...? NigHtmAre...He WoUldn’T…...He woUldn’T HurT Me...WoUld He…?” Vediovous looked up at Gaster, tears still streaming down his face and his body still shaking.
“No, I think not, But he will deny you shelter, and Nature will hurt you. I have to fight her to revive Coal, and if your here, you’ll be in danger. I won’t have that.”
Vediovous looked away. He didn’t want to leave Coals body here but..
“I….” he held the little infant's body out to Gaster, looking into his purple eyes. “...i TrusT YoU WiTh His BodY tHen…” he was still unsure but for now he would put his faith in Gaster.
