Nightmares
"Where's Dave?" Brendon questioned as he got into the front seat.
"He's spending the night at someone else's place," Ryan answered as he turned on the car.
"He won't get in trouble for that?" Ryan smirked as he pulled out onto the street.
"He does this a couple times a month."
"Has anyone found out?" Ryan chuckled.
"Everyone does it every now and then. The only one who doesn't is Zack but that's because he's married and actually loyal." Brendon's eyes widened as an image of Zack with a woman pops in his head.
"I didn't know he was married." Ryan nodded.
"He doesn't share it openly. He needs to stay at the building as a condition of his position, but he visits home a few times during the week and spends every other weekend with her." Brendon nodded. This whole thing they had going with the building keeping its workers and kidnapping gays was just getting more and more fucked up.
The rest of the drive was mostly silent. Brendon would sing along to the radio every now and then. When they got back home, they hurried back to the room.
"If everyone does this, why did we have to be sneaky about it?" Brendon asked when they were back in the room.
"Well, there are few people who don't like it and will get really bitchy about it, so we're just avoiding them." Brendon nodded as he got ready for bed. The buzz he had at the bar was long gone as he nestled into the sheets. He heard Ryan get comfortable in the bed beside him.
While time slowly passed by, Ryan fell asleep only giving small snores with every breath. Brendon was flat on his back, staring at the ceiling. He was still getting used to the not so new environment still. He was terrible with adapting to new places.
He let out a sigh and turned to his side. His arm tucked under the pillow and his other hand loosely gripped the sheets. He was facing Ryan, watching the boy sleep. From an outsider's perspective, the scene was borderline creepy. A sleeping boy, half naked being stared at by practically a stranger.
Brendon didn't want to look like a bigger freak than he already was. He was just fascinated with the other boy. The fringe of his hair fell over his eye. His long eyelashes rested against his cheek. His mouth was slightly open. His thin body was almost curled in a fetal position. Brendon could see Ryan's body move with every breath he took.
He was a walking piece of art and Brendon was just admiring.
He noticed Ryan's body give a twitch and a grimace took over his face. Brendon frowned at the action. Ryan let out a small groan and tilted his face to bury it halfway in the pillow. Brendon moved up, propping himself with his elbow.
He watched Ryan's movements for anymore signs of discomfort. Sure enough, a longer groan left Ryan's thin lips. His body rose and fell more rapidly as his breathing increased.
"No," Ryan let out weakly. His head shook subtly before his legs began moving. His body gave another twitch. Brendon was sat at the edge of his bed, feet planted on the ground and arms ready to push himself up.
"Stop!" Ryan's voice sounded hoarse and overused in the attempt to scream. His legs started to kick and his body began thrashing. Brendon was immediately kneeling beside him, hands on the boy's shoulders shaking him awake.
"Ryan, wake up. Wake up," Brendon started saying. "Wake up, Ry. It's just a dream. Come on, wake up." Ryan's body sprang up. There was a layer of sweat covering his skin. His breathing was still erratic. His blood shot eyes were filled with fear.
Brendon had pulled back to give him room. Ryan's eyes darted around the room then landed on Brendon. A blush covered his cheeks as he bit his lip. His shoulders slouched forward in shame. Brendon got up and left the room.
Ryan watch the door confused until Brendon came back with a glass of water. Ryan took it gratefully. When he noticed how bad Ryan's hand was shaking, Brendon helped the boy take a drink before setting the glass aside.
Brendon stayed perched at the edge of the bed, eyeing Ryan. His breathing was more steady and he only looked embarrassed for what he did.
"Sorry. I didn't mean to wake you," Ryan murmured. Brendon shook his head.
"Don't worry. You didn't. I've been up for a while." Ryan looked over at the digital clock on the nightstand and frowned.
"Brendon, it's 3 in the morning. What are you doing up?" Brendon ignored the question and asked his own.
"Are you okay?" Ryan was ready to lie before he stopped himself. Brendon was awake, he saw what happened to him. He gave a shrug in response. "Will you be able to go back to sleep?" Ryan's cheeks went red again.
"Not alone," he mumbled down to his hands. Brendon leaned back in shocked. He looked over at the shirtless boy in front of him who just had a night terror. Could he really sleep next to the boy he couldn't stop staring at not even ten minutes ago?
"But it's okay. I'll be fine." Ryan shrugged and flashed a forced smile.
"I-I could if you want I," Brendon stuttered. "We could share the bed if it helps you." Ryan chewed on his bottom lip before nodding hesitantly.
"Please," his voice almost sounded like one of a little kid, innocent and vulnerable. Brendon nodded and took the empty spot beside Ryan. The boy slowly sunk into the sheets. Brendon moved cautiously, not wanting to over step any boundaries. This was for Ryan not himself.
"Can I," Ryan barely said. Brendon turned to see Ryan laying on his side, facing him. Brendon swore the boy would have a permanent blush. "Dave lets me," he tailed off. "It helps me stay calm."
Brendon thought back to when he saw Ryan and Dave cuddling the other night. Was Ryan asking...
Looking at his face, Brendon could see Ryan looking uneasy making these requests. Brendon scooted closer and carefully wrapping his arms around Ryan's body. He tried to ignore the tingly feeling he got when he felt the other's skin under his hand. He focused on calming Ryan's trembling body.
When Ryan shifted, he felt brave enough to pull their body's together. He was relieved when Ryan only got comfortable against him. His arm rested on Brendon's side, his head against his chest. Brendon took a deep breath to calm his pounding heart. He felt Ryan smile against him followed by a hand pressed over his heart.
Their legs tangled naturally together. It felt like they were two puzzle pieces that fit perfectly together. Brendon rested his cheek on Ryan's head. Ryan let out a content sigh and shut his eyes.
"Thank you," Ryan's whispered. Before thinking, Brendon kissed the boy's brown hair.
"Get some sleep," he murmured into the hair. Ryan's breath soon came out steady as he fell into a deep sleep. Brendon felt his own eyes drooping. He never felt this warmth and comfort before. He could easily get used to sleeping with someone in his arms.
He didn't have to battle endless thoughts as he followed behind Ryan to the dream world. It was the most peaceful sleep he'd ever gotten in his life. But like always, all good things come to an end.
"What the fuck are you doing?" Brendon was ripped out of his sleep. He looked up to see a furious looking Dave standing at the end of the bed. His turned his gaze to the movement against his chest.
A shirtless Ryan was slowly being pulled back to the real world. Brendon would've taken the time to notice how adorable he looked waking up if he hadn't realized that the two were caught cuddling in only boxers by Ryan's over protective kinda brother. Brendon looked back at Dave and held out a hand.
"Dave, let me explain," Brendon rushed out.
