Chapter 5: Dealing with Other Things

Levi's' POV

As I woke up in the morning, I found Hanji in my arms. Resting my nose on her shoulder, I smelled the strawberry-like scent of her hair. She groans softly, turning over and smiling softly. Her fingers caressed my cheek as she spoke softly.

"Hey... Levi..."

"Good morning, Hanji..." I smiled as we kissed on the lips.

"Remembered anything else?"

"I remember every time we slept together," I confessed, kissing her shoulder again. "I can remember the few minutes leading up to it, but afterward, I can't remember that part. It's bugging me."

"At least you're remembering..." She whispers, getting up to her knees and pushing me into the bed. "Do you remember this?"

"I do... you always loved to take control over me. I'm guessing I don't often do that?"

She smirked, kissing my lips again. "On days I'm stressed, you would always let me take control. This is strange because you were more of the guy that would like things under his control. But either way, I loved it."

Raven was watching some cartoon on the TV when Hanji and I walked out of the bedroom. She smiled and pointed at me, "Daddy, you stayed?!"

"I did." I walked over to her, and sat next to her, kissing her cheek. "I couldn't leave my little bird behind."

She giggles, showing me a stuffed animal of a cat. "Daddy, can you kiss her?"

"Of course," I do so before kissing her forehead. "You know, you were tiny. Did you know that? Tiny as your little cat. And you were like a stone."

"I was?!"

As I continued to bond with Raven, a few memories came back to me. I remember whispering to her when she was an infant. And she preferred me over her mother when Raven cried in the middle of the night. I remember Hanji jokingly telling me that there was already favoritism in the household. Then, I began to learn new things about her. She likes the color blue and wants a cat.

Hanji gives me a cup of tea, "Hopefully, you still like black tea."

"I began to like it again," I say, sipping gently from the cup.

There was a sudden knock at the door, and Hanji quickly went to get it. "Daddy, are you going to leave again?"

"I'm not sure... but I will be here for you." I don't think she quite gets it, but I think she understands the fact that I wouldn't abandon her again.

"Levi?" I turned to see a blonde guy in the doorway, pushing Hanji out of the way. "What the hell are you doing here?" The anger grew in his eyes as he stomped towards me, "I'll ask again, what the hell are you doing here?!"

"Erwin, leave him alone-."

"He was gone for 3 freaking years, Hanji! Without another word! And you're willing to let him back into your life? What was his reason? Does he miss you? Did he miss the fact that he had a daughter?"

I felt Raven digging her head into my side. The terror in her actions... I felt so sorry for her. "Erwin, calm down," Hanji says, "Let's talk it over breakfast- please. I need to give Raven her pancakes and we can talk, okay?"

He wouldn't stop staring at me, and I tried to look away from him. Hanji served Raven her breakfast, telling her that she can watch TV as well. We didn't eat yet as we had to talk instead. Hanji started the entire thing.

"Erwin, Levi doesn't have a lot of memories of the past."

"Amnesia?" Hanji nods her head to confirm. "That's a lame excuse."

"You weren't there when I first witnessed it, Erwin. He didn't remember a thing about me or Raven. He's regaining them as of last night."

"For 3 years, almost 4, he forgot everything about his past? For 3 years?"

"It can happen, Erwin."

Erwin glared at me, "What are you doing here?"  I asked him, "I spent the night with Hanji... and I have no idea who you are and why you were here."

"I've been seeing Hanji for the past few months." I turned to her, seeing herself hang her head in shame. "I guess you can call it more of a fling. We thought you ran off with another woman after you were told about losing your son. We waited. Then Hanji decided to take off her ring and we started to see each other."

"I should've said something-."

"You don't have to. I understand. I did the same thing, so I can't get mad at you."

Erwin sighed, shaking his head. "I'm not angry that you're sleeping with Hanji- technically, you're still married to each other. But I want an explanation of what happened. Why did you leave?"

"I can't remember. I honestly don't know." I confessed, "I don't know why I was in the city, what I did, I don't even remember the day. All I know was that according to Hanji, I hung up and... I wounded up in a car crash."

"Car crash?"

"Head trauma that caused my amnesia. I lost everything that day."

"I'm a friend with a private investigator, so maybe next week or so, we can try to retrace your steps to figure out where you were before and what happened that led to the car crash. Maybe it'll help jog your memories."

As I was comforting Raven, I hear Hanji talking to Erwin in a hushed tone. "I didn't think he was coming back, but I hope this is a second chance at life." Hanji says, "And if he does choose to come back to me, I want to be by his side as well."

"In other words...?"

"I want to stop seeing each other. If I'm going to be with Levi, and if he can redeem himself, I want to spend the rest of my life with the man I loved for years. Can you understand this, Erwin? Or does this make me stupid?"

"I understand, and it's fine. But I can't ever forgive him for abandoning you."
