Kattappa comes out of his room and sees them.

Ka: Baahu, who is this guy ? I have never seen him...

A: Mama, he is Rudradeva, my besht frand!

Ka: Huh ... best friend ?? He looks like a warrior.

A: He is mama. He has won many battles. He came over here to visit me last night.

Ammu winks his eyes at his best friend who smiles in return.

Ka: We could take him to Mahishmati with us ra he could be of help in our army.

A: He is coming to Mahishmati with us mama! Oh I can't contain my happiness... you don't have a clue what all I plan to do with this cute fella(pulls her cheeks)...he will stay with me in my bedroom he shouldn't leave my sight even for a moment.Morning,afternoon,evening and night I will train him and he too has agreed to train me.. right Rudradeva??

Rudradeva nods his head meekly.

Ka: Wow great then ! You go get ready Baahu... I'll take care of him..Greetings Rudradeva, I am Kattappa Baahu's mama.

D: (In a male voice) Greetings Kattappa. He has told me a lot about you. Pleased to meet you.

Kattappa steps forward stretching his arms apart to hug Rudradeva who takes cover behind Ammu. Ammu comes in front shielding his friend.

A: Mama...mama stop ! What are you doing ?? 😰

Ka: I was going to hug him ra! 😊

A: Huh...no no no you shouldn't. She..I mean he doesn't like anyone touching him. He's very sensitive to touch.

Ka: But you had your arms across his shoulder and he never showed any dissent ?

A: Huh... that.. that he is my best friend he doesn't mind me touching him but not others.

Ka: Strange...🤔

A: Yeah strange friendship of 7,8,9...errr I forgot how many years mama pls excuse us.

Holding Rudradeva by his waist Ammu escapes from a confused Kattappa. Next they come across Kumara varman.

A: Oh no... next danger... huh..uh good morning Kumara varma !

Kv: Good morning Baahu...who is this with you ?

A: My fraaandddd. Rudradeva!

Kv: Oohh greetings Rudradeva! Baahu, I was coming to your room. Here, these are your clothes. Come, I'll help you dress up.

A: But my fraandd...

Kv: Yeah let him also come. He can assist you to tie your dhothi.

Shaking her head, she hides her face behind her palms.

He gives her a cheeky smile and she stamps his feet.

Ammu sneaks away with her.

Kv: (Scratching his head) Huh.. not used to see men dress up then how does he ?? Oh whatever...

They reach the entrance of her chamber.

D: I have to tie dhothi for you ? Chi chi chi no way !! I won't see all that.

A: What ?? You won't see ?? Ok fine tell me one thing. Do you like babies ??

D: 😃Of course I do !! I love them !! I want to have many babies!!

A: Hmm then you have to see. 🤩

D: No no no no I won't see chii... 🙈

A: Too bad if you want babies, you have to see. No see, no baby.

D: Huh..really ??

Placing her forearms diagonally across her chest and shaking her head she moves back.

He moves his hands to his waistband. Devasena widens her eyes.

She runs into her room and tries to close the door but Ammu stands in the way not letting her shut the door and begs.

A: Pls Devuu..see once and go...pls..pls..

With all her might, she pushes him out and shuts the door. Ammu chuckles from outside and continues to tease her.

A: My gorgeous to-be wife, see and go !!

Devuu opens the door slightly and pokes her head around the door sees him standing with his hands at his hips and sticks her tongue out to him.

A: Wth !! Wait I am coming...

Before he could get in, she shuts and locks the door.

D: I will not see !

She squeals from inside.

A: I will make sure you see !

He retorts from outside and then giggling returns to his room to get ready for his engagement.

Ammu-Devu engagement:

Both look resplendent in their matching blue engagement finery. Ammu is smitten by Devuu's beauty and gapes at her at every given chance while Devuu too finds it hard to take her eyes off cuddly bear Ammu. Everyone offer prayers to the family deity first and the rituals begin. As per Kunthala customs, Devu's brother and sister-in-law exchange the 'nischaya thaamboolam' (engagement platter) with Kattappa who represents Baahu's side. Ammu adorns Devu's neck with a beautiful lotus garland and vice versa. According to the customs of Mahishmati royal family, Devasena ties the 'kankanam'(armlet)to Ammu's sword thus completing the 'kshatriya vivaham' or warrior marriage. This means she now belongs to Ammu's 'kulam'(clan) and 'gothra' (lineage) therefore Ammu is her protector and she belongs to him.
(I made up this one...lol. In reality I don't know the significance behind tying an armlet to the sword mentioned by Sivagami in the movie but in this ff just assume this is the reason. Ok pls continue reading..😜)
Tradition is that the groom's side has to give something in gold to the girl so Ammu gifts Devu a set of golden bangles which she wears immediately. Engagement is done ! 💑👍🏼
Ammu and Devu take the blessings of the elders present there. They go to Kattappa and seek his blessings. As they bend to touch his feet, he stops Ammu midway.

Ka: Baahu...no... I am just a sla...

A: ...you are my mama.. don't stop me.

He eyes Devasena and together they fall at Kattappa's feet. Tears in his eyes, he lifts Ammu up by his shoulder and they hug. He places his hand on Devasena's head blessing her wholeheartedly.

Ka: May you both live long together with all the wealth. God bless you.

All are happy.

Ka: Baahu, where is your friend Rudra.. I haven't seen him around here.

Biting her tongue and bowing her head, Devuu takes cover behind Ammu.

A: Huh..uh...mama, he had some urgent work so left. Hee hee hee. Don't worry he'll be back if needed. 😉

D: ☺️☺️

It is time to leave and Ammu-Devu bid farewell to her family. Then the bridge scene takes place.

A: Nothing happened right yuvarani.

Devuu shakes her head in negation.

A: Your thoughts are elsewhere.

He teases her and Devuu to teach him a lesson walks across his shoulders.

Ammu and Devu who were staring at each other come out of their trance. They see Kattappa sitting in the middle cupping his cheeks and shifting glances between them. They realise Mahe's engagement was on.

A: Huh..mama, where is Mahe?? Why is this place empty ??

Ka: Engagement got over 2 hours ago. All went back to their rooms.They asked me to wait here and get you inside once you both are out of your flashback. Shall we go ??
