Prologue

The raspberry red dragon was sitting on the edge of a mountain cliff. Her tail was curled over her talons as she stared near the setting sun over the horizon spiked with mountains. Swirls of pink and orange blurred in the sky, the light shimmering beautifully off the dagon's crystally scales. Wind picked up and she thrust her muzzle up, closing her eyes as the breeze whisped against her rough scales.

It almost seemed to whisper the word, "depth." It was strange, but no different then any other way they had messages her, really. She listened, aware they might be telling her something. A message, something that could define life or death.

"From the depth..." the female didnt catch the rest as a huge hawk plummeted towards her. Any other kind of dragon would have leaped into the air to catch and eat the graceful creature, but she wasn't one of the carnivorous tribes. Instead, she ducked away from the bird, not wanting to get hit.

It squawked something that sounded like, "From the depth of the tribe." Then a loud wing swooshed and trees swayed in the forest below the cliff. "A Crystalspeaker will rise."

The wind picked up greatly, whistling and howling as it spoke of a unseemingly harmful prophecy. "She will bring destructive knowledge, to the tribe that keeps her sheltered!" The whisper became louder and louder until it was screaming, the wind now distinctively a Crystalwing dragonet's voice.

The girl receiving the prophecy was wrapped in darkness. She opened her eyes to a small purple dragonet. The dragonet's eyelids drooped, to suddenly be awaken and followed by a squeak.

"Mama!" She yelled cutely. "No mama?" She then answered sadly after a bit. "Spivit?"

The raspberry silhouette leaned forward a bit, confused to if the dragonet was speaking to someone, or to herself.

"Um...a-are You talking to me?" The older Dragon dared ask the dragonet.

But the young one didn't seem to hear her. She just squawked and grunted and roared like a dragonet. The red Crystalwing searched for some other dragon, but there was non in sight. Odd, she thought. The older Dragon waited for more of the prophecy, sure there would be another part. But no.

he vision faded, and she was back in reality. The sun was up but seemed to be going down, meaning a whole night and a whole day had passed while she was unconscious in her vision.

And she knew, as did every dragon like her, that the longer the vision, the more important the prophecy.

She put the words together.

'From the depth of the tribe,
A Crystalspeaker will rise.
She will bring destructive knowledge,
To the tribe that keeps her sheltered.'

She thought hard about it, gears turning rapidly in her mind as she came up with solutions to this confusing prophecy.

Hmm...from the depth of the tribe? Obviously that means that this Crystalspeaker is among us. But will rise? This dragon must not be born yet. She thought rapidly. She, the voice said she. Well, that's a start. She shudderedat the next words. Destructive knowledge? How is knowledge destrutive? To the tribe that keeps her sheltered. That's us. This dragon might be our end.
