Founding Fathers
Alfred names all his pets after the Founding Fathers
The animals of his country love America very much, and would never hurt him.
It was a Saturday morning, birds were chirping and butterflies flew. People were sleeping in, some snoring, some bent in odd angles, some had hair sticking everywhere. A certain young blonde country was among all three groups of sleepers.
He was on his stomach, his right arm crossed under him to his left side; while his left arm hung off the side of the bed, leaving a tingle in his arm that was not yet known. One of his legs were bent at the knee and ankle, making a 'Z' shape under him.
Suddenly, a crash came from his kitchen, startling the young man into the awakened world. His head shot up, his body trying to follow but only causing his back to bend at a painful angle. He groaned and turned around, sitting up properly and brushing his hand through his hair, only then starting to feel the relentless pins and needles in his arm. Just as he was about to complain, another crash was heard. He jumped out of bed and ran downstairs, his hurried footsteps echoing through the house.
Once he was in the living room, he saw his coffee table flipped over, papers and comics scattered across the floor. He grimaced but leaned over slightly to gaze into the kitchen, seeing pots and pans on the floor with a few broken glasses. He knew he should have picked those up last night...
Claws quickly scratching against the floor caught his attention as Alfred looked to his left, seeing his cat and dog playing 'tag' with each other.
"George Washington! Benjamin Franklin! Bad boys!" Both the animals stopped on command as they looked at him with their heads down as they sat on the floor.
Alfred sighed. "No, don't try to guilt trip me! You both made a mess! What if you knocked John Adam's cage down? He could've been hurt!"
The animals turned and walked out of the room, to their respective beds. America watched them go before running a hand through his wild hair and going to check on John Adam, his pet rabbit.
The large grey rabbit stared at him, wiggling his nose as it hopped closer to the cage door, waiting for Alfred to pick him up. Like every morning, Alfred took the rabbit out of the cage and brought him to the backyard where his other pets were.
There was a young blue jay sitting on a bird swing under the porch, waiting for his morning meal. Alfred put John Adam down as he went to feed John Jay (he thought that he was very clever with this name for his bird). Alfred held a cup of bird food in one hand, and held his other hand out to John Jay, waiting for him to hop onto it. The bird, like the rest of his animals, were all rescued. Jay lost his brothers and sisters to a snake when he was still a chick, falling out of his nest to get away. The parents never came back for him, so Alfred adopted him.
His deer fawn, Madison (like James Madison, but for a girl), lost her mother to poachers. Alfred and Matthew were walking through the woods when he found her, and they couldn't leave her. So Alfred brought her home and took care of her.
Then there was Alexander Hamilton... His grizzly bear cub, the newest addition to the family. Arthur or any other countries have yet to find out about him. He wandered away from his mother and couldn't find his way back. Alfred found him in his backyard last week playing with Benjamin, and after going back into the woods, couldn't find his mother anywhere. So back home he came.
After feeding all of the animals, Alfred took a step back to watch them all eat and play. He smiled to himself, picturing the Founding Fathers playing with him when he was young.
"I miss you guys..."
