Chapter 03

*Amelia's P.O.V*

Today should be interesting. I was meeting Chesney and his girlfriend, Sinead for dinner at the Bistro later on and I'm going to be honest with you; I'm a little nervous. With Tyrone, I wasn't really that worried about seeing him again because I already kinda knew him from before I left the street with Mum, but I've never met Sinead before. From what both Fiz and Chesney, and even Tyrone had said, Sinead sounded like an incredibly sweet and lovely girl, but she was still someone I'd never met before and that just put me on edge.

I tried to push it to the back of my mind, though. I wasn't meeting her and my brother until six o'clock this evening, and it was only 8 am now. Since it was pretty early in the morning, I'd only just woken up and after checking my phone and social media like most teenagers do first thing in the morning, I got out of bed, pulled my grey bear dressing gown on over my black and white owl pyjamas and went downstairs.

"Morning, Mia." Fiz smiled at me. She was in the kitchen making what I assumed was breakfast for Hope and Ruby and Tyrone was sat at the table with a cup of coffee, on his phone.

"Morning." I grinned at my sister, and smiled at Tyrone who returned it.

"Did you sleep alright?" She asked me.

"I did, thanks." I replied.

"Oh, for goodness sake!" Fiz suddenly exclaimed after opening the fridge.

"What's wrong?" I asked her.

"We're out of flaming milk. I'll have to nip over to Dev's and get some."

"I'll go, if you want."

"You don't need to do that, Mi. It's my responsibility."

"I don't mind, honestly. I've been meaning to get out and see a bit more of the street since being home, anyway. This seems like a good opportunity for that."

"If you really want to go, we're not going to stop you." Tyrone spoke up.

"You're only saying that so I don't ask you to go." Fiz said. Tyrone just shrugged, basically confirming what she said and I couldn't help but laugh.

"Look, I'll have some breakfast, get dressed and then I'll go and get some milk for you, okay?" I said.

"Alright, then." Fiz said and I beamed before joining her in the kitchen area. I popped some bread in the toaster and waited for it to pop up, before covering the two slices in honey. I quickly ate my toast, put my plate in the sink and then went back upstairs. I didn't bother with a shower, I had one just before bed last night anyway, so I go straight to choosing out an outfit to wear today. I decided on a cream knit jumper over a plain tank top, a pair of light blue skinny jeans and my pink and white Adidas Original Superstars. Around my wrist, I clasped my silver Disney bracelet and my phone was sporting my Paris Girl phone case. I pulled on my black faux fur hood parka and wrapped my shawl scarf around my neck which was the same sort of pink as my shoes and had a brown and grey plaid pattern on. I made sure my hair looked alright, which I had brushed by the way, before I went back downstairs.

"Right, this should be enough for the milk and I put in a little extra so you can buy yourself some sweets or something." Fiz told me as I returned back downstairs, handing me a fiver.

"Fiz, I'm not seven years old anymore." I chuckled.

"I'm well aware of that, Amelia, but you're never too old for a pack of Starbursts."

"That's very true." I couldn't help but laugh again, "So, I'll be back in a bit, then, yeah? I'll come straight back here after getting the stuff from the shop, so I shouldn't take very long at all."

"Okay. See you in a few." My sister smiled at her and I smiled back before saying a quick goodbye to Tyrone and leaving the house.

Despite being gone for almost ten years, I still seemed to know this place better than anywhere and found my way to the Corner Shop in a matter of minutes. I walked in and saw a woman with medium length blonde hair behind the counter. She gave me a greeting smile as I entered and I smiled back before going to find what I needed to get. I found the milk and decided to take up Fiz's suggestion and picked up a packet of Starbursts. I ended up having a bit of money left over, so I picked up two more packets for Hope and Ruby. Once I had everything I needed, I went over to the counter.

"Hello, love." The woman smiled at me warmly.

"Hi." I smiled back.

"I don't think I've seen you around here before." She stated as she scanned my items, "Are you new to the street?"

"Not exactly. Well, kind of. I used to live here."

"Ah, I see. I'm Erica."

"I'm Amelia."

"That'll be £3.57, please, love."

"Here you go." I fished around in my pocket before pulling out the fiver and handing it to her.

"Thank you. It was nice meeting you."

"You too." I grinned, before she handed me the change, I gathered up my shopping and then turned to exit the shop. As I walked out the door, I was so busy trying to get the money back into my pocket without dropping anything that I didn't noticed the tall bloke walking towards me on his phone until we collided. Luckily, I managed to keep hold of the milk but all three Starbursts packets flew out of my hands and onto the ground.

"Oh, sorry." We both said, awkwardly laughing as we spoke at the same time. He bent down and picked up the sweets.

"Starbursts, nice choice." He smirked, handing them to me.

"Thanks," I took them, slightly distracted as I took in his appearance. He had short, wavy, strawberry blonde hair that flopped over the right side of his forehead and forest green eyes. He had a tiny bit of stubble that was hardly noticeable unless you looked closely and a cute little dimple on his chin. He looked quite a bit older than me, though.

"I-I mean, they're not for me, they're for my nieces." I stuttered. Why the hell was I stuttering?

"Hey, there's nothing wrong with Starbursts." The charming little smirk never left his face.

"Okay, fine, you caught me. One of them is for me, but the other two really are for my nieces."

"Well, I must say, you have great taste in chewy sweets." He playfully winked.

"Why, thank you." I giggled, "But I really must get going. I need to get these sweets to my nieces, as well as this milk to my sister."

"Fair enough, but save me some Starbursts in case we meet again, yeah?" He joked.

"I'll see what I can do." I laughed. He gave me a proper smile that gave me butterflies and I smiled back before I walked away, back to Fiz and Tyrone's house. After the short walk, I arrived at my sister's front door and tried to walk in, only to find it locked so I had to knock and Tyrone answered seconds later.

"Hey, that was quick." He stated with a grin.

"I said I wouldn't be long." I shrugged with a small laugh as I walked inside and he shut the door behind me.

"Hey." Fiz greeted me, as I handed her the milk, "Ta."

"No problem. I bought the girls some sweets, can I give them to them now?" I asked in case Fiz wanted them to have breakfast first.

"Yeah, go on then. They've already had breakfast."

I grinned and went over to my nieces who were playing in the living room.

"Hello, monkeys, I got you both something."

"What?" They both asked excitedly.

"Close your eyes and hold out your hands." I instructed them with a grin and they obliged. I then placed a packet of Starbursts in each of their outstretched palms, "Okay, open." They both opened their eyes and the way their little faces lit up when they saw the sweets was absolutely adorable.

"Thank you, Melia!" They both squealed as they hugged me.

"You're welcome, girls." I laughed.

The rest of the day wasn't too exciting, I just stayed at home and helped Fiz with some housework and then at around 2 pm I went with Tyrone and the girls up to the red rec.

Soon enough, however, it was nearing 6:00 and I had to start getting ready to head over to Nick's Bistro. I decided to change into something a bit more appropriate for a meal out, so I swapped my current outfit for a black skater dress with three quarter length sleeves and a pair of light brown wedged booties with white woolly insides. I also slipped into a pair of skin coloured tights as I didn't want to go out into the chilly weather with completely bare legs. I then sat down at the vanity in my room and picked out some jewellery; a gold arrow necklace with small (fake) diamonds and a bracelet that was also gold and had small diamonds. I then curled my hair loosely and tied it up in a half-up-half-down ponytail and quickly did my makeup. Lastly, I clipped on my gold and black ombré glitter phone case. Once I was finally ready, I slipped on my burgundy bomber jacket and grabbed my grey Stella McCartney Falabella shoulder bag before running downstairs.

"I'm off, then." I announced as I walked into the living room, where Fiz and Tyrone were on the sofa watching TV.

"You going to meet Chesney and Sinead now?" Fiz asked. I nodded. "Okay, what time do you reckon you'll be home?"

"I don't know, we shouldn't take too long. I'll text you when we're done."

"Alright, see you later then."

"See you later. Bye, Tyrone."

"Bye." Tyrone smiled before I walked towards the front door. It was actually only 5:45 but I figured there was no harm in being early. I made my way to the Bistro and walked in, where I recognised Nick Tilsley behind the bar.

"Hiya." I gave him a friendly smile as I sat down on one of the bar stools.

"Hi... Do I know you?" He looked slightly confused, but I didn't blame him. I didn't expect many people to remember me.

"You probably don't remember me. I'm Amelia Brown, Fiz and Chesney's sister."

"Oh, wait, yes, I think I do remember you. So, you and your mother are back, then?"

"Not exactly. My mum isn't here, just me." I said, trying to make it obvious I didn't want to talk about it too much by the tone of my voice.

"Oh, right, I see. So, what can I get you?" Nick asked.

"Just a coke, please. I'm waiting for someone."

"Coming right up." He then went off to get me my drink, returning in a couple of minutes. I thanked him as I took the glass of coke.

I took out my phone and started messing around on it to kill time, when a voice came from behind me and made me jump out of my skin.

"Hello, stranger."

I turned around to see the strawberry blonde guy from earlier and I smiled as he took the stool next to me.

"Hey, I didn't expect to see you in here."

"Right back at you." He chuckled, "I'm only here because the pub is pretty jam packed and I didn't want to wait for a drink."

"Fair enough."

"So, what brings you here?"

"I'm meeting my brother and his girlfriend for dinner, but they're not here yet."

"I see." He nodded, before a small smirk tugged at his lips, "So, how about those Starbursts you promised me?"

"That's gotta be the best pick up line I've ever heard." I laughed. He laughed with me and shrugged, an adorable cheeky grin on his face.

"I'm Daniel, by the way."

"I'm Amelia." I smiled, just as I spotted Chesney walked in with a gorgeous blonde girl, "And I apparently have to go; my brother's here." I nodded towards the entrance where Chesney and Sinead were and Daniel turned around to look at them before turning back to me.

"Alright, well, I'll see you around." He shot me a charming smile and I felt my face heat up, but hopefully he didn't notice through my makeup.

"Yeah." I smiled back at him before walking over to my brother and his girlfriend.

"Hey, what were you doing talking to him?" Chesney immediately asked me, glancing over at Daniel.

"Well, hello to you to." I sarcastically replied.

"Sorry, it's just that he's a lot older than you."

"Relax, Ches, I was just making small talk while I was waiting for you."

"Okay." Chesney accepted my excuse but still didn't look fully convinced, "Anyway, Mia, this is my girlfriend, Sinead Tinker. Sinead, this is my little sister, Amelia."

"Hiya." Sinead grinned at me and I instantly knew I'd been worrying about nothing all day. She already seemed like the sweet, kindhearted girl that people had described her as.

"Hi." I smiled back at her before the three of us went to find a table. We soon ordered our food and the rest of the evening actually went really well. I got to know Sinead and I could tell we would end up being great friends.
