Chapter 5: Friendship, Amity

Sheira's POV

"Why is the room so dirty?!" I sighed. It seems that this hasn't been cleaned for weeks.

Every surface was layered in a thick coat of dust, untouched for what seemed like an eternity. Cobwebs hung like delicate lace from the corners, their resident spiders long since departed.

The wooden floorboards creaked underfoot, each step stirring up another cloud of dust.

In the corner, a rickety chair sat precariously, its cushion worn and faded. Next to it, a wooden table stood with a layer of dust so thick, you could write your name on it.

I roll up my sleeves, ready to tackle the task at hand. I can already imagine how the room will look once it's clean, and that thought fuels my determination.

I start by opening the windows, letting the fresh air stream in, replacing the stale, dusty air. The sunlight filters in, highlighting the areas that need the most attention.

I grab my cleaning supplies and start with the dusting, wiping down every surface. The dust particles dance in the sunlight as they're disturbed, but I'm relentless, not letting any corner escape my attention.

Yuri entered the room, casting a discerning glance at the chaos within. "How's the cleaning coming along, Sheira?"

I sighed, my voice an echo in the cluttered space. "I'm still far from done. This room is a disaster."

Yuri, with a casual grin, offered, "Let me lend a hand."

"Thanks!"

Days had passed since our triumphant expedition. The whole team was buzzing with the excitement of making a significant mark on history.

We had finally uncovered the weaknesses of our adversaries, a victory that wouldn't have been possible without the sacrifices of our fallen comrades.

Suddenly, the area seemed unusually busy. Was there some event I wasn't aware of?

"Everyone please assemble at the castle!" a female soldier informed.

"What's happening?" I asked.

"Perhaps the King has an announcement. Or it could be because it's his birthday today," Yuri replied.

"Wait, it's the King's birthday today? How do you know that?"

"Isn't it common knowledge? How come you didn't know?"

I was taken aback. I had no idea it was the King's birthday. What kind of soldier am I?

As we all headed towards the castle, I noticed a waterfall within the kingdom's walls.

"Yuri, isn't it strange to have a waterfall inside a kingdom?" I asked.

When I turned to look at him, he was grinning. Was he a fan of waterfalls?

"Yuri?"

"Sorry, I was just admiring the waterfall. It's so beautiful. I wonder what's beyond it."

"So, you're fond of waterfalls?"

"Absolutely! There's something about the sound of the water that I find soothing."

I was surprised. Despite knowing Yuri for so long, I had no idea about his love for waterfalls.

Eventually, we reached the castle. The King stood before us, ready to address his subjects.

"This is a special day for me, a day I wish to share with all of you, especially you, the brave warriors of ZiYou. Today is my birthday, and I want to express my gratitude for your unwavering loyalty to ZiYou. And to those who have fallen on the battlefield, your sacrifice is deeply appreciated."

The King's heartfelt words moved all of us. Ziyou was indeed fortunate to have such a compassionate and caring ruler.

"I'd like to express my gratitude to our leader, a remarkable man in charge of our exceptional troops. I appreciate your commitment and sacrifices. My thanks also go to our three squad captains: Yuri Kimura, Eamon Levisay, and Sheira Zane. You all performed brilliantly. To every single one of you, my deepest gratitude!" The King continued.

The King knows of my existence!? I'm flabbergasted.

"For this reason, I'd like to invite all of you to join in the celebration of my birthday. Thank you!"

The crowd erupts in cheers as the King retreats into the castle. It's a rare privilege to meet the King. He appreciates our loyalty to the kingdom.

An hour later, I spotted Aria, Blair, and Cara weaving through the crowd. Their eyes met mine, and they approached with an air of familiarity.

"Sheira!"

"Aria! Blair! And Cara!"

"We've been missing you!"

"We had trouble spotting you in the crowd earlier."

"Hi Sheira! And hello, Captain Yuri!" Cara greeted.

"Greetings! It seems like you three are quite close to Sheira," said Yuri.

"Absolutely! She's my sister!" claimed Aria.

"Haha! You must wish you were," Yuri Chuckled.

"But...we are her sisters! Right, guys?"

They nodded in unison.

"What's your relationship with Sheira, Captain Yuri?" Cara asked.

"She's my daughter."

"What!? Daugh-ter?"

"Yes."

"But you two don't look alike," said Blair.

"Shh! That's impolite." Cara shuts Blair's mouth, taping her back.

"What are you talking about?" Blair questioned, confused.

"Haha, relax. I'll leave you three now, have a great chat."

"Bye!" Cara waved as Yuri walked towards his squad members.

"Big sis Sheira! What's your dream?"

"Dream?"

"Everyone has dreams, right?" Aria asked, like asking for approval.

"Well, my dream is to become sisters with you three!" I expressed.

"I feel the same. Once everything is settled, I want to hang out with you like a real sister!" Cara was excited.

"I'm eagerly waiting for that day. I love you!"

Time with Aria, Blair, and Cara passed, and they proved to be nothing short of adorable. Yuri was right; I couldn't help but wish I were their sister.

Yuri seemed to have had a delightful chat with his squad, his personality making him excellent company.

Spotting Eamon alone, nursing a drink, I wondered why. Did he lack friends, or was this an everyday scene for him?

Eamon's POV

Tsk, why is she staring at me like that? Weird.

"Captain! Wanna join us?" a young soldier asked, holding a cup of water.

"No," I refused.

How can I do anything with my mind so full of thoughts? I sighed.

Understanding the Heian's weak points should give us the upper hand in combat.

We need to learn how to strike them effectively and accurately. That way, we can prevent more soldiers from falling on the battlefield. But why aim for the neck? It's similar to humans, who would perish if their heads were severed. But I still find it a bit odd.

I need to inform the commander so he can train the soldiers on how to properly combat these monstrous creatures. We must prepare ourselves and be ready for the next mission. Humanity will retaliate and reclaim its position.

Suddenly, a middle-aged man ran toward the crowd, his face was like someone who just peed his pants.

"Alert! Everyone! A group of Heians is attacking and scaling the wall! They'll overrun the kingdom if we don't act!"

"What? Heians!?"

The commander swiftly moves to the crowd's center, his urgency evident as he declares with a commanding voice, "Alert! Humanity is once again under attack! We will advance and fight! For the sake of humanity, the kingdom, the king, and the people!"

To be continued...
