Chapter 20: Shadows of Vengeance

Sheira's POV

"Aagghhh!" a Heian barged in and took the man down in a flash, smashing the teapot along the way.

"Sheira!" Eamon was quick to unsheathe his sword, slicing right through the Heian's mouth. Its tongue hung out!

"Eamon!" I sprinted towards it, reaching for its tongue.

"NOW!" I gripped its tongue tightly as Eamon darted back, severing it. Still not satisfied, he swung his sword again, slicing the creature's neck and ending its life instantly.

"Tsk, that was my comrade you took down, you filthy dog, and my favorite teapot," Eamon grawled.

"Are you alright?" Eamon checked on me, catching his breath. He sighed in relief as I gave a slow nod. Our eyes met and held. He took my hand, pulling me closer. His strong hand intertwined with mine, holding on tightly.

"Stay safe," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.

"Looks like the hot tea will have to wait," I said.

"It's you and me then," he began.

"Always," I added.

We both bolted towards the entrance, swords drawn.

Heian's Master's POV

My plan seems to be going off without a hitch. As I suspected, those simpletons are no match for my grand scheme. Just by manipulating a puppet, everything has fallen into place. I put the Heians on pause for a bit and they believed they'd won. They should've known it wouldn't be that easy to defeat the sole ruler of Ziyou.

The waterfall connected to the Heian's lair. I'm surprised they didn't notice the waterfall within the kingdom. Maybe they're just too clueless! Such fools. They're nothing more than a meal for my lovely adorable little puppies. They're clueless about how to stop this, making it easy for me to take them down. Now, let's wrap this up once and for all. My pets are getting peckish... Time for dinner!

Sheira's POV

"Look out!" a Heian lunged at a soldier and gobbled him up right in front of me. I swiftly sliced its neck and blood sprayed everywhere. But I was too late, he was already gone. I'm so sorry...

In every direction, a crimson tide of turmoil greets my eyes. It's a dance of death between humans and Heians, a macabre ballet. The law of the jungle prevails here - the mighty stand tall while the feeble crumble. Our warriors are entangled in a deadly waltz with these monsters, improvising with every step, for the Heians sprung upon us like a nightmare in waking hours. We were ill-prepared for this conflict, yet now we are bound to this dance, a dance that only ends when the music of life ceases.

"Are the civilians safe?" I asked.

"Yes, ma'am!" a female soldier replied.

The one thing that gives me a bit of relief is knowing the people are safe. Our main goal in this mess is to protect the people and take down these nasty beasts. Fingers crossed we make it through, and may the flag of Ziyou keep flying high.

"Eamon!" I called.

Eamon's back from helping the citizens and has joined us in the fight. He's slicing through Heians like a hot knife through butter, and we're backing him up with everything we've got. We're ready to lay it all on the line for our kingdom and its people.

Eamon charges towards the left side while I and a group of soldiers take on the right. We've lost comrades for the peace of our kingdom. But they've wrecked it all over again, they've taken everything from us. Today, we're taking it all back. But with their huge numbers, our forces are being pushed back.

They've taken over most of the kingdom, having control of about seventy percent of it. Looking at their numbers and strength compared to ours, we're seriously outmatched. They just keep coming. There seems to be no end to them. Many of us have fallen on the battlefield and we're struggling to handle the onslaught. What can we do? Only a handful of soldiers survived the first wave.

Eamon keeps fighting, not thinking about this seemingly endless battle. All he's focused on is fighting and making sacrifices. And we're right there with him. We'll fight without looking back. If this is where my journey ends, so be it. As long as the flag of Ziyou is still flying, I can rest easy.

"My brave friends, we're at the final chapter of our life story. It's time to decide who will come out on top. I know we're the underdogs. We're outnumbered. We might seem insignificant compared to them. But I want you to remember, you're stronger than you believe. They may be faster, stronger, and have more numbers. Let them. But remember this... They don't possess our faith, they lack our courage. And they definitely don't have the love we share," I declared.

"So, right now, I'm asking each of you to stand with me. Stay and fight. Show them what we're made of, show them the true power of Ziyou!" I roared.

Suddenly, hundreds, no, thousands of people march towards us, each clutching a blood-stained sword. The townsfolk have come to our aid!

"We found these swords next to our fallen soldiers. We're here to help, to stand with our brave warriors against the enemy. We'll fight for our freedom! We'll fight for our families! And we'll fight for Ziyou. So, please, let us help you, let us fight by your side!" a man informed.

"For Ziyou and its people, we're ready to lay it all on the line!"

"Let's get this done!"

"Let's show them what we're made of!"

Our soldiers are pumped up and ready to go. With the townsfolk here to back us up, we're ready to give it everything we've got. Thank you, everyone.

"Alright, if you're all willing to fight for Ziyou, I welcome your help. But remember, I can't promise you'll make it out of this alive," I said.

"We're ready to make the sacrifice!" a young man shouted.

Their bravery is inspiring. Ziyou has brave soldiers, and brave citizens too. Whatever happens out there, we're ready.

Lifting my sword, the flames within me ignited, "Now then, for Ziyou. Today, we reclaim the freedom that's rightfully ours. The peace, the joy, our home. We're taking it all back! Come on, my brave brothers and sisters! Draw your swords! Charge!"

With every ounce of strength we have, we fight back, showing that we won't settle for anything less than freedom and peace!

I sprint towards a Heian and swiftly slice through its neck. Every Heian I come across, I take down without hesitation.

Suddenly, I feel a tap on my shoulder and turn to find Eamon. "What's wrong, Eamon?" I asked. His face is a mix of seriousness and anger.

"Do you see that long shadow pointing that way?" he asked, gesturing in a specific direction.

Just like he said, I see a shadow that seems to be connected to something. Upon noticing the long shadow, Eamon and I sprang into action. We darted towards the source of the shadow, our hearts pounding in our chests. As we approached, we noticed a man sitting on a rock, his eyes closed in deep concentration, his hand moving in strange patterns as if controlling something.

We exchanged a quick glance, understanding passing between us without words. We knew we had to disrupt whatever he was doing. With a nod to each other, we readied ourselves, our hands tightened around our swords. We were prepared to face whatever came our way, ready to fight for our kingdom and our people.

As I watch him, a rush of images floods my mind. The fallen soldiers, Aria, Blair, Cara, Yuri...

Out of nowhere, I felt a surge of uncontrollable rage and anger welling up inside me, "YOU TOOK EVERYTHING FROM ME!"

Before I knew what was happening, my sword was swinging, slicing him into pieces. It was like a rainstorm, but instead of water, it was blood. And mixed with the blood were my tears.

To be continued...
